Seat Mates by Anna Harbom is a charming and heartfelt read that delivers a perfect blend of humor, warmth, and romance. The story centers around two strangers who find themselves seated next to each other on a long flight, only to discover that this seemingly random encounter might just change their lives.

Harbom does a fantastic job of creating relatable characters with quirks and flaws that make them feel real. The dialogue is witty, and the banter between the main characters is engaging, drawing you into their evolving relationship. The pacing is just right, allowing the connection between the characters to develop naturally, with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments and emotional depth along the way.

What I particularly enjoyed about Seat Mates is how it captures the magic of serendipity and the idea that a single moment can lead to something much bigger. The story is lighthearted yet meaningful, with themes of self-discovery, taking chances, and the unexpected paths life can take.

Overall, Seat Mates is a delightful read that’s perfect for anyone who loves a good romantic comedy with well-drawn characters and a plot that feels both fresh and satisfying. Anna Harbom has crafted a story that’s easy to get lost in, making it a great pick for a cozy afternoon or a weekend getaway.

Thank You NetGalley for giving the arc for this book!

Daisy is not excited about her mother’s wedding in DC. She’s running late to the airport to catch her flight when she’s cut off by a BMW. She flips him the bird and continues on, rushing to the boarding gate. She gets to her seat and who is her seat mate? None other than BMW man. The banter is great the whole flight, and they run into each other again of course. She finds out his name is Charles and they stay friends for the wedding weekend. Or will it lead to more?

This book was so cute. Read it in a day because I enjoyed the characters so much. Thank you to Net Galley and Anna Harbom for the ARC!

I really enjoyed this book! Such a cute romance with the most hilarious meet cute! Loved the chemistry between Daisy and Charlie and their banter was so funny and adorable. So heartwarming as Charlie lends his support as Daisy faces her past and deals with family trauma. Definitely recommend!

For a debut, this book was really good! I love a good fake dating trope so I was all-in. I thought the story was very well written, I love both main characters. It was a quick, easy read that kept my attention till the very end.

This may be my shortest review ever.

LOVED it! LOVED it! LOVED it! I have definitely found my new book boyfriend! How could one not immediately fall in love with Beamer?! The witty banter between Charlie and Daisy was so fun - how could one not enjoy a fake relationship turn real relationship tale?

If you want a feel good story, that will make you laugh and smile, do yourself a favor and read this book!

Thanks so much to NetGalley for this ARC! Now off to buy the physical copy!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for a review. This book was short and sweet and to the point which I appreciated. The (maybe not so) meet cute on the plane after the driving incident was engaging and I felt like I connected with Charlie and Daisy right away. I found myself falling off a bit after this but thought the placement of the "twist" of why Daisy was there was perfectly placed. Very well done by the author to put me right back into the story with that development. While some of the actions from certain characters seemed a bit unbelievable at first, I think they were well explained in the end. As someone who lives in DC, I loved the use of DC as a character and as a way to explore class differences and privilege to an extent. The end may have been a little too neat and tidy for me as I felt it veered again into unrealistic territory but overall this was a fun read (3.5 stars rounded to 4).

Ratings:
FMC: ⭐⭐⭐
MMC: ⭐⭐⭐
Plot: ⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐

BWBH Review:
Pros:
A solid debut novel
An overall light-hearted story

Cons:
The ending felt a little rushed
Daisy’s mother was getting under my skin…repeatedly
I wasn’t a fan of the ex-boyfriend being around - it took away from the MMC

The spice was completely lacking. If you’re looking for heat, I recommend looking elsewhere.

Saet Mates is perfect for readers who enjoy Emily Henry, Katherine Center, and a cute love story that prioritizes sweet over heat.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

This was a quick, fairly cute rom-com. The characters and relationships (both romantic and familial) make the story.

There isn't anything particularly exciting about this book, but it gets the job done if you're in the mood for something light. I feel like it would be perfect to read while traveling.

I read an ARC of this book from NetGalley. All comments are my own.

I was given a copy of Seat Mates by Anna Harbom as an ARC from NetGalley. I enjoy romances with quirky female heroines, and Seat Mates does not disappoint. However, I want to stop and applaud Harbom- typically in romance books the heroine overcomes some obstacle, where the heroes sees her as a strong female. And while it sounds great, most authors don’t show the reader how the heroine is a stronger woman at the end of the book. Instead the author glosses over this remarkable step forward in character, we don’t see how the character has grown, and the reader accepts it to get to the happily ever after. I appreciated how we actually saw growth in Harbom’s characters- in Daisy we see how she stood up and had hard conversations, she grew from the experience and when the hero points out what an amazing woman she is because of it- I believed it! If you are getting on a plane soon, and looking for romance I’d recommend Seat Mates. (If you are on your couch and want a fun read, I’d still recommend!)

I absolutely loved this book! It was quick and fun read! I fell in love with the characters so quickly, and I finished this book in less than 24 hours. I had to know what was going to happen between the characters, and I couldn’t put the book down. I also really ended up loving the side characters, although I still think I’m a little mad at her mom. Definitely a must read for rom-com lovers!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Anna Harbom for the ARC edition of this book! I was so excited to receive this debut for Anna!

I really enjoyed this story! I liked the FMC and MMC, and thought the meet cute was exactly that. They had good chemistry and it felt like the navigation of that connection was natural.

I could not stand the mother. Honestly, even after the revelation of her reasoning, i still didnt like her and thought the FMC should have set more boundaries there until they could work through some things.

It was great to see her and Rob become friends and understand that they werent their parents mistakes, and that they wouldnt have worked in the end anyway. It showed maturity that i liked seeing, because to be honest, i dont know if i wouldve been so cordial with the parents.

This is a great debut and while predictable at times, gave us exactly what we needed from it! Im excited for more from Anna!

I loved the first part of the story but I got a bit bored. I loved the idea of the story but it was just too slow for me. I gave this book 3 stars because there were a lot of funny moments. This is Anna Harbom her first book and I see why a lot of people love this book but it just wasn’t for me.
