I LOVED EVERY BIT OF THIS BOOK!!!!! Charlie’s character was perfection and I loved both the MCs individually and together!!!! My heart broke for Daisy and her mom. I kind of wish we got to see Rob and his dad talk their issues out too, but I think it’s didn’t affect the story one way or the other that they didn’t. It was absolutely perfect. She will be an autobuy/autodownload author for me in the future! Highly recommend!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC copy!
Wow 🫶🏼 I honestly loved this book so much! I didn’t know what to expect as this is her debut novel. But she did not disappoint. I had a feeling the book was going to be good when it started off “what the hell, asshole!”Talk about falling in love with the man MC! Charlie was so lovable 💕 And I loved her writing style; she made me feel just as much as when I’m reading an Emily Henry book. Daisy and Charlie’s love story was one of my favorites that I’ve read. I also enjoyed the all too relatable family issues, such as feeling like you’re the parent at times. The ending made me cry happy tears and I laughed out loud a few times while reading. I got through the book in one day! If you love fast paced Rom-coms then this books is for you. It also had a little bit of spice as well 😉 This is my first time reading a book from a self published author and I’m so happy to have loved it so much! I can’t wait to read from more indie authors.
This was something, I'll say. I thought the whole drama with the mom was icky to me time and time again. I didn't like the plot, I didn't like a lot of things in this book. Like Ew, ew. it was okay.
I got an e-arc of this book on NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
4.5/5
Daisy Thomas is on her way to a wedding. A wedding she doesn’t even want to go to. A wedding for two people who turned her life upside down. In order to be at the wedding, she has to get there first. While making her way to the airport, Daisy encounters some issues with another driver, who later happens to be her seat mate, Charlie.
Charlie is a contract attorney who works for the “bad guys.” He meets Daisy, who works for a non-profit, and is instantly drawn to her. After running into each other again, after their flight, Charlie learns about why Daisy dreads the wedding she is attending. He suggests that he be her date for the events, so she won’t be alone.
Charlie and Daisy end up hitting it off and turn their fake date to the wedding into a real one. Everything seems like it’s going well, until Charlie has a secret come out. Something that could ruin their friendship and relationship.
I enjoyed reading Seat Mates. It was everything a rom-com should be. I felt like it was fast-paced, but none of the important events were brushed over. The scenes where there was spice were pretty vague and not very descriptive, which I didn’t mind. One of the things I loved was how we got to see the main characters backstory and how it affects who they are in present day. The other thing I loved was the banter! Wow, could these two go back and fourth with their puns. I laughed each time. Now for the characters. Charlie was such a sweetheart. He was such a great support system for Daisy after learning about what she had been through. Usually at the end, when there’s a twist and it makes the MMC look bad, I hate them in that moment. However, I felt bad for Charlie because he really was trying to look out for Daisy. I could not imagine the weight Daisy had on her shoulders and the pressure to be at that wedding. We do get to see her show some growth, after a good talk with her mother.
There was so much to love about this book. I would recommend if you love fast-paced rom-coms.
Thank you Netgalley for the arc for an honest review.
I loved Seat Mates so much!! This book has it all and I’m so sad I’m finished reading it. I laughed out loud more times than I can count and cried a little too. Ugh, I just want to read it again so I can feel all the feels.
Daisy Thomas is having a rough day, well rough year, as she heads to the airport to board a flight to her mother’s wedding. She gets cut off by a guy in a BMW and they both proceed to flip one another off, she has to wait in the insanely long TSA line and then she makes her way to her middle seat in the back of the plane. In the most unfortunate set of circumstances and the absolute cutest meet cute, Daisy is seated next to none other than the guy who cut her off… “Beamer”. They both realize who the other is and now have they have to sit next to each other for 3 hours on their flight to D.C. Daisy is “fun-sized” and full of personality. She drives a “mini” cooper, loves to crochet and her favorite food is cookie dough ice cream. Her seat mate is named Charles or Charlie Bond… yep, his last name is Bond. Oh, and he’s an attorney, who obviously drives a BMW. Throughout the entire flight, they banter back and forth with one another and it’s insanely adorable and ridiculously funny! Once the flight ends and they both go their own way, Daisy begins worrying about much bigger issues she has regarding her mom’s wedding. You’ll learn all the juicy details of why she’s not so excited for her mom in the book, but just trust me that Daisy is a saint for showing up and supporting her mom. Daisy checks into the fancy hotel in D.C. where the wedding is and decides to go to the hotel bar for dinner. To add salt to the ever growing wound, guess who is also staying at the hotel… Charlie. Not only is he in the hotel bar for dinner, his hotel room is next door to Daisy’s. For whatever strange reason, Daisy decides to have dinner with Charlie and they actually have a really good time getting to know one another. Daisy tells him that she’s in town for her mom’s wedding and while she doesn’t tell him everything, she allows him to know that she’s struggling to be there. After several cute run ins around the hotel and the city, Charlie offers to be Daisy’s date to the rehearsal dinner and wedding so that she won’t be alone. Because oh yeah, her ex-fiancé and his new girlfriend will also be at the wedding. Daisy and Charlie have the funniest, cutest and steamiest relationship ever. The banter between these two is hysterical. They definitely “complete” one another and it’s too cute for words.
I can’t recommend this book enough and truly wish there were more to the story to read right now. I absolutely loved everything about Daisy and Charlie’s relationship. The way they pick on one another, that ultimately leads to some serious flirting, to the way they stand up for one another and sacrifice for each other’s happiness. Ugh- it’s so sweet!! Just read this book. You won’t regret it!!
Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read and advanced copy of this book in exchange for my review.
3.5 stars.
This was a cute, fun romance that had parts that read a lot like a women's fiction. It was sweet and very enjoyable, not overly descriptive on the intimate scenes and short enough to be readable within the span of a few hours.
The writing style was excellent, it was easy to read and I wanted to keep picking it up but unfortunately for me it falls into the category of cute fun fluffy romcoms I will not be constantly thinking of.
Would 100% recommend - especially for a quick and easy travel book!
Despite this I am very thankful to NetGalley and Anna Harbom for providing me with the arc in exchange for an honest review.
I didn't expect to love this book as much as I did, I was hooked from the first chapter! Daisy and Charlie's journey made me feel light and fluffy, made me laugh, and I'll be thinking about this book for a long long time.
SCREAMING! CRYING! KICKING MY FEET!
I AM HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE WITH CHARLIE 😭
This story is fun! It's cute and light and surprisingly funny. But it was very predictable. But the swoon was there! Oh my lord!
Daisy meets her new love of her life while she's on an airplane. Well… they met before. In the airport it's parking lot. Where he (Charlie, whose actual name is Charles) nearly cut her off in his BMW. And she flipped him off in her Mini. Thus them nicknaming each other as Beamer and Mini.
Surprise, surprise, they meet again. At a hotel out of all places. And funnily enough, they stay at the same hotel. On the same floor… right across from each other.
During the pre wedding stuff and even during the wedding itself, things get all kinda of sultry. Daisy starts falling for Charlie and she isn't stopping herself from pushing through. And things get really heated from there.
In the long run, some lesser pleasant scenarios happen. But everything turns into a happy ever after 🥹
"Seat Mates" by Anna Harbom exceeded all my expectations. From the moment Daisy Thomas boards her flight, dreading her mother's wedding and grappling with her personal demons, I was hooked. The story takes a charming twist when Daisy discovers her seatmate is none other than Charlie, the infuriating stranger who cut her off on the way to the airport.
Anna Harbom masterfully weaves heavier themes into the light-hearted rom-com narrative. Daisy's journey is not just about finding love but also about confronting her past and coming to terms with her relationships, especially with her mother. Charlie, the sweet and supportive seatmate-turned-romantic interest, is the perfect foil. The character development is impressive, particularly Daisy's growth as she learns to set boundaries and confront her insecurities.
Thank you, NetGalley and Anna Harbom, for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest review. I can't wait to see what Harbom writes next!
Daisy is on her way to a wedding in DC that she really does not want to go to, over Labor Day weekend. She's still nursing a broken heart and her best friend that was supposed to go with her had a family emergency, forcing her to back out and leave our FMC to brave this weekend alone. Our girl is stressed, overwhelmed, and a BMW just cut her off at the airport.
Something that I found interesting is that not only is Daisy flawed, as all people are, but we get to see some of her ugly behavior immediately. She's impulsive and judgmental and bitter right away, but that is not the whole of her person and she has believable reasons for being jaded.
Enter Charlie, the sweet, supportive, earnest man Daisy sits next to on the plane, and just so happened to be driving the BMW that cut her off. They have a tense exchange that, by the end of the flight, dissolves into something resembling a friendship.
Coincidence (or fate) continues pulling them back together throughout the book, in which they help each other discover aspirations, boundaries, and that their world views may be skewed by their early childhoods.
This book is everything The Hating Game could have been. Daisy is petite without it being her entire personality, and Charlie acknowledges her small stature without it being the main plot. The characters feel multidimensional and the story keeps pace so as to never feel boring.
This was a genuinely charming love story, and despite everything I needed to do today I kept coming back to read "just a few more pages" until I finally sat down and gave in to the urge to finish the rest in one sitting.
This book was such a cute read. The meet cute and setting felt so sweet. They had great chemistry and banter was definitely amusing, the story flowed so well! It was hard to put down!
“Seat Mates” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐
💖 - difficult mother, ex-boyfriend with a new glamorous girlfriend, fake dating
Charles and Daisy meet in a total 'meet cute' moment—she flips him off at the airport after he cuts her off, only to end up sitting next to each other on the plane. They click instantly, and when Daisy faces her ex-fiancé at her mom's wedding, Charles steps in as her pretend date and support system to get her through it.
I admire how Harbom weaves weighty themes into a light-hearted rom-com, blending plot and characters into authentic, touching moments for everyone involved. It's definitely a romance, but it also delves into how we sabotage ourselves and hurt those closest to us. Themes like trauma, poverty, and abandonment add depth to this fast-paced romance, making it worth the read.
Seat Mates is truly one of my favorite romances of the year! It’s hilarious, full of swoon-inducing scenes, and might even inspire a tear or two in the more emotional moments.
I was initially surprised that only a tiny fraction of the book takes place actually on the plane, but once I got over my surprise I was totally fine with that. Daisy was delightful, Charlie was a dream, and I got caught up in their romance quickly and completely.
I honestly loved this so much that I’ll be ordering a copy for my permanent collection. Do yourself a favor: if you love funny books with lots of love, pick this one up the second you can!
Thank you so very much to NetGalley and Anna Harbom for allowing me to read an ARC in exchange for my honest review!
4.5 Stars!
He cuts her off on the way to the airport, she gives him the finger, he gives it right back. What a start!
Daisy never thought she'd see the guy in the beamer again and with the day she was having, the last thing she needed was to be cut off when she was already running late to catch her flight. She also didn't need to be seated right next to Mr. Beamer on the airplane. They banter, they argue, and eventually call a truce and part ways when the plane lands.
Daisy is traveling to DC for her mothers wedding. Her relationship with her mother is complicated at best and while she doesn't want to be there, she also knows her mother will give her guilt if she doesn't go. She also has to deal with the fact that her ex fiancé and his new GF will be at the wedding as well.
Daisy bumps into Beamer (aka Charlie) at the hotel where he is staying as well for some work meetings. She feels like she can open up to him because he doesn't really know her and won't judge her. Over the next few days, they hit it off and become vacation friends. Their conversations turn into flirting and Charlies proposes he come with her to the wedding to help calm her nerves and be a friendly face. There is something between the two of them and they start to catch feelings but can the feelings stick around once they return to Colorado?
I love a good story with great characters set over a celebration weekend and this one fits the bill perfectly! A funny meet-cute mixed with a stranger to enemies to lovers that was well executed and not super fluffy. It had some serious moments that the characters needed to face and some tough conversations needed to happen. I liked how Daisy had finally set some boundaries with her mother towards the end and also came to some realizations with her new relationship with Charlie.
The descriptions in the book are wonderful and I feel like I could picture everywhere she was at at all times. The banter between the two was wonderful and sassy. Both are witty without being crude and also know when to tone it down and turn it into flirting effortlessly.
Huge thanks to NetGalley and (Publisher) for sharing this book’s digital advanced review copy with me in exchange for an honest review.

First and foremost thank you so much Anna for allowing me the opportunity to read an arc of your debut novel. Anna has quite a way with words. This book was beautifully written and well put together. I enjoyed the banter and the character development. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Daisy grow throughout the book. Daisys relationship with her mother was gut wrenching but so tangible. Anna painted a beautiful picture. I felt right at home, like I was right there with daisy and Charles. I can’t wait to see what Anna comes up with next.
Such a fast paced read. Cute meet cute and HEA
Charlie and Daisy get off on a rocky start on the way to the airport. And then they are forced to be seat mates. And then they are next door to each other in the hotel. Fate keeps throwing them together but do they make it work?

I absolutely LOVED this book. From the first few pages, I was already very connected to this book and storyline.
This book was INCREDIBLE. It was sweet, heartwarming, comforting and so cosy.
It addressed a lot of issues that is definitely relatable to most of us, eg. with setting boundaries with people in your life.
It was such a joy and comfort to read about Daisy and Charlie! I instantly connected to them. They're so real and relatable. They're fun and silly, quirky and adventurous.
I highly recommend this book, it's a perfect summer read!
ANNA I NEED MORE FROM YOU!!!!! I can't wait to read more from you, and super excited to see what you do in the future.
Thank you so much to Net Galley and Anna Harbom for gifting me this ARC (advance reader copy) to read and give feedback on!!!!
This title piqued my interest maybe because I just came from a vacation where I spent a looong time cooped up in a plane seat. I didn't have any expectations at all, but it surprised me that I liked how this book started. Daisy and Charlie are the main characters, and I felt their chemistry right from the start and how the story progressed with them at the helm.
It's an easy read overall, but the reason of their conflict I already guessed before going halfway into the book. It's still a fun book though.
Knowing that the story also involves Daisy's mother, I liked how their relationship was touched upon towards the whole book.
I was satisfied by the ending, it might be rushed for some but it's okay for me, since I already witnessed their dynamics and just needed some closure.
Thank you Netgalley for the eARC.
