Sorry but I did not read this novel. I was sent this advanced copy by Berkley Publishing but I do not read "paranormal".
What a fun book! Reading this was like reading a modern day fairy tale. It was full of medieval references, and watching Griffin adjust to the modern world was hysterical. I laughed so much as he and Emily navigated this new world with him as a man from the 1400s, freed from stone. The romance was swoon-worthy (and pretty spicy!) and the two of them had such chemistry. You definitely have to suspend reality as you read this one, but that's what makes it so fun. I was flipping pages on my Kindle so fast when Emily was suspected of stealing the statue from the museum, because I had no idea how the author was going to resolve it! But she did, and did so in such a fun way. I highly recommend this if you're looking for a romantic, light-hearted book that is bound to make you laugh.

Thank you to Netgalley and Berkley for the e-arc edition of this book, in exchange for my honest opinions.
If you haven’t read the synopsis, then you’re in for a real treat. This story follows Emily, a recent divorcee who is a conservator for The Art Institute of Chicago. While there, she begins working on this statue which is a knight. From the very first moment, she feels a weird pull to it but doesn’t think much of it.
Later that night, she has a dream and the knight shows up in her dream. The following day, she tells her friend, Rose, and Rose suggests kissing it. She ends up doing it and he comes to life. Yes, a statue of a knight comes alive and is a real person named Sir Griffin de Beauford.
At first, Emily doesn’t know what to do, and frankly, neither does Griffin. She’s trying to give him a crash course in the modern world and trying to keep her job. Soon after she leaves, her entire team is freaking out over the statue being gone. If it sounds slightly absurd, it is but Her Knight at the Museum is such a fun read.
Not only is there a great romance between Emily and Griffin, but we also see the two of them really grow as people. Seeing all the new experiences Griffin has is so refreshing. It’s clear he appreciates certain things about our reality and I love how Bryn Donovan wrote that. Emily is also dealing with some lingering feelings due to her divorce and she works through that along with telling off her ex-husband and his new girlfriend.
With this premise, the author could have gone the predictable route but I loved how everything played out. While the story does feel like it’s wrapped up, I would love to see a story about Rose but we’ll see what happens. Ultimately if this is the only story we get in this world, that’ll be enough.
Emily is a newly divorced art conservator at the Chicago Art Institute and
it turns out the museum’s new acquisition, a medieval statue of a knight, is an ACTUAL knight cursed to stone.
Absolutely adorable. If Kate and Leopold was your favorite 2000s romcom, this is a must read!
What I loved…
- 30+ MCs
- laughs, giggles, and tons of silly moments
- magical realism
- he falls first and harder
- golden retriever MC
- love letter to Chicago
- animal companions
- would make a fantastic movie
What I didn’t love…
- the romance felt a bit rushed, Griffin was a very eager beaver.
Thank you NetGalley and Berkley for sending this book (eARC) for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
This book was included in a set of books i won from an independent website so special thanks to the author for that.
I enjoyed the book. I liked the cover as did my girlfriend who was my original planned reader for this novel. She enjoyed the setting and characters. She felt the last half of the book felt better than the first half and wish their were a bit more adventure. Despite that i think many others will enjoy the book as she did.
Kate & Leopold meets that Vanessa Hudgens hallmark movie!
This was so cute!!! A perfect lighthearted story that read like an early 2000s romcom.
The perfect book to pick up when you want a lighthearted romance with a twist. Every girl has thought about being getting swept off their feet by a Knight in Shining armor at least once, right?!
I think I would have liked this book a lot more if we had only seen the fmc's point of view instead of both hers and the love interest's.
This book delighted me! I actually wish it was longer, I really enjoyed Emily and Griffin together as a couple. My one note is that, personally, it was a little too spicy, especially right out of the gate. Otherwise, I was giggling and kicking my feet!
In this magical tale, Emily is a museum conservator who is still reeling from divorce. When restoring a handsome sculpture of a knight, she has a vivid dream where he appears to her and tells her a story of a curse. Imagine both of their surprise when Emily manages to break the curse, and Griffin comes to life. He has much to learn about modern day, but is completely smitten with Emily and wants to capture her heart as well.
This story was sweet, fantasy-filled, and a spicy good time. I enjoyed the curse element and Griffin’s backstory, as well as his sweet and chivalrous persona that often caused humorous things to happen. I know not everyone enjoys the insta-love trope, but it really works well in this story. Overall, this is a whimsical and charming read for fans who enjoy stories like Enchanted and Kate and Leopold.
Thank you to Bryn Donovan and Berkley Romance for the ARC and chance to be an early reader and reviewer.
I was lucky enough to win an e-ARC of HER KNIGHT AT THE MUSEUM by Bryn Donovan in a Shelf Awareness giveaway. Thank you for the early look, and have a safe and happy Halloween season!
What a delightful book that was not quite any other romcom I’ve read. This is one of those books that you really have to suspend belief in order to enjoy because it is pretty farfetched, but once you do it is delightful. This book is so silly, and because of that I think it really had me enjoying it so much more. I read this one when I was having a bad day and needed something light, and it certainly delivered. There is quite a bit of spice, and I enjoyed how it was done. I loved how the romance unfolded because it felt like it did so at a natural progression of their relationship. The banter between them is also The old-world charm of Griffin is also great, and I really appreciated the author’s note at the end of the book explaining things a bit more. Author’s notes are always so much fun and give a glimpse into the author’s process sometimes and that was the case here.
Perfect for fans of Hallmark movies, this would absolutely make an adorable Hallmark film. Think cheesy and sweet with over the top swoon. If that's your type of romance, this is for you!!
When Emily first saw the new statue at the art museum, she felt somehow connected to it. It was in amazing condition and as she worked at restoring it, she could have sworn she heard it talk.
Griffin has been frozen inside a statue since the 1400's when Mordain cursed him to a life as stone. Over the years he has been able to visit people in dreams but never communicate, until now. Why? How?
Cue the romance and the cheese. This book knocks it out of the park. I can picture this being absolutely adorable and fun on screen and I would totally watch it.
I will keep my eye out for more books from this author.
Thank you to netgalley and Berkeley Publishing for a copy to review.
Omigosh, this book is so cute. If You’re a kid of the 80s and 90s, and you loved the Mannequin movies, this is for you. It’s like Mannequin and A Night at the Museum had a spicy rendezvous. The characters are adorable, the banter is fun, and the spicy scenes are sexy. Loved it.
This book is so cute and fun! What would it be like if a medieval statue suddenly came to life under an art historian's hands? I read this whole book in one sitting on a long flight and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Clever, sweet, and just all around delightful.
It’s giving major night at the museum vibes and I’m SO here for it! The description doesn’t lie with the rom com vibes either.
There is little spice but the romance is quite fun.
I loved the sort of fairytale magic vibe with the knight statue but at the same time elements of a museum made it feel a bit more real for me. Truly a night of museum vibe! One of my fav childhood movies that I so wished happened in real life.
I recommend giving this a read for sure!
You’ll be rooting for the characters and falling for them too.
If you love watching the night at the museum movies, then you will love this book. It's literally giving night at the museum vibes, but more romance between the curator and statue. I do want to warn you that you should read this romance book for the vibes rather than the plot. It will make the read so much better than what you expected. It's a cute romance book with bits of spicy in between.
Griffin and Emily were clearly made for each other, only centuries apart. Bryn's writing brings characters to life with wit and charm. When Emily is restoring a centuries old statue, she feels a connection to it like she's never known before. Griffin is drawn to Emily in a magnetic way and their bond from the beginning is enchanting. As Griffin tires to navigate the customs of his new contemporary lifestyle tensions and sparks rise.
I absolutely adored this book! From the moment I started, I was giggling and kicking my feet with excitement! This book was everything I love in a story—romance, fantasy, and a good dose of humor.
Griffin quickly became my favorite character! His journey from a cursed knight trapped in stone to a charming man navigating the complexities of the modern world was both hilarious and heartwarming. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at his bewildered reactions to everything from cell phones to modern etiquette. His blend of old-world charm and naïveté brought such a fresh perspective to the story. He truly brought a spark of magic to Emily’s life, and I found myself rooting for him every step of the way.
Emily, on the other hand, was wonderfully relatable. As a recently divorced conservator, she’s grappling with her own insecurities and struggles, which made her character resonate with me. The chemistry between her and Griffin was both steamy and sweet. I loved how their relationship developed, filled with moments that were both tender and playful.
This book was the perfect escape, and I even picked up some fun history facts along the way. If you enjoy movies like Night at the Museum, Enchanted, or Kate & Leopold, this is a must-read for you! It left me with a big smile, and I can't recommend it enough!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Her Knight at the Museum is a fun, fantastical romcom with a romantic heart and a whimsical spirit. Perfect for fans of Kate and Leopold and Jude Deveraux’s A Knight in Shining Armor.
After seeing much ado online about this upcoming romcom, I was thrilled to read an advanced copy. One must take a leap of faith in Bryn Donovan’s HER KNIGHT AT THE MUSEUM, (a young woman falls for a statue in a Chicago museum), but as I read to escape, it was no hardship. Donovan delivers a sexy, sweet romance with punchy dialog and amusing characters. Easy to recommend if you are looking for lighthearted romance with a side of steam. This would translate well to Netflix.
