I LOVE books like this and it is such a great resource to have about different holidays people are celebrating! Love to use things like this in the classroom, and it is so well made with the lovely illustrations and cute story! Also very informative!
Really really good! I will be buying this book for my classroom as it was fun and full of information!
Diwali by Sital Gorasia Chapman was a wonderful book. Diwali is a very special time for people all around the world and celebrates the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. Diwali captures the magic of the celebration by exploring how Sonali and her family mark the festival of light. This book had very bright illustrations throughout that made it a joy to read and share it with my nephew. Plus it was great to learn about the Diwali and what this means..........
Big Thank you, NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for my ARC

I have read and enjoyed various children’s books on Diwali or Deepavali, yet each time I learn something new.
This one, especially so. So, if you wish to teach your kids more about your culture or teach others about it, this is a wonderful first pick.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This was brightly coloured book to introduce the little ones to the festival of diwali and what it means and how it's celebrated. It is a gorgeous book, and it's fun while also being informative.
I love the little part at the end with how to do the crafts featured in the story and some of the recipes.
A colourful and fun book for children to learn about the festival of Diwali. It would be perfect for families, but also for schools to teach about celebrations from other countries.
It was very informative, and kept things light and focused on the children's perspective, making it entertaining.
This was such a cute read! I loved the art work and the information regarding Diwali. I cannot wait to get this for my nieces and nephews this year so they can learn more about other cultures and holiday traditions.
A beautiful book about Diwali, which i heard but never knows what it’s about! It’s very colourful and has details on what is Diwali about. I really enjoy reading this and thank you for the recipe!
Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced reader’s digital copy (ARC) of “Diwalil” by Sital Gorasia Chapan, with a publication date of August 6, 2024. Diwali is a beautifully written and illustrated book that teaches children and adults about the five-day Indian celebration and the significance of each day: Dhanteras, Kali Chaudas, Diwali, Nutan Varsh, and Bhai-Beej. Sonali and her brother Jay take the reader on an immersive journey through Diwali, where they meet their family members, learn an Indian craft, and learn how to prepare a simple Indian treat. “Diwali” introduces children and adults to this significant cultural event. I enjoyed learning how to create a rangoli, a colorful pattern to decorate the home, and how to prepare Shrikhand, an Indian yogurt dessert. I also enjoyed the quiz at the end of the book, which was a fantastic culminating activity.
“Diwali” would be an excellent addition to your classroom and home library. Thank you, Ms. Chapan, for writing this book, and Darshia Varma, for your beautiful, colorful illustrations!
I was a bit confused for who this book was written for. It reads for a higher age level than its presented for, and would require alot of help from a parent who most likely won't understand either.
This book was beautiful. I loved learning about Diwali and the five nights of celebrations. I love learning about other cultures and getting to learn about them with my children and this book Is the perfect means to do so. The instructions in the back showing how to do the Rangoli and Salt Dough Diva are super neat. The recipe looks so good and the quiz was a lot of fun to do with my kids to see how much they paid attention. Beautiful illustration and a beautiful story make this one, one that I want to add to our personal collection!
Lovely children's introduction to the Indian festival of lights. The illustrations are beautiful and the content is age-appropriate. Recommended.
The colorful illustrations caught my daughter’s eye and kept her intrigued. Neither one of us knew anything about Diwali and this book was a fantastic source material for the age it’s marketed for. Explaining each night was perfect, and then including the recipes at the end was even better. My daughter wants to cook them all now.
Thank you netgalley for the e arc
excellent book to introduce the younger kids to a different culture and how the other children celebrate, eat and live.
The spectacular illustrations and cheerful story explain Diwali, a Hindu holiday called the festival of lights celebrated primarily in India. The artwork literally shines and gives spirited life to this amazing children's book. A gem!

Diwali is a children's picture book that follows Sonali and her younger brother Jay as they celebrate the Hindu festival of Diwal, surrounded by friends and family.
This book was wonderful! The illustrations were so cute and had enough detail to be capturing whilst not being overwhelming. The story was fun and I learnt some things about Diwali, even as someone far outside of this book's target audience.
I loved the fact we had a little story first, followed by a non-fiction section at the back, and little-kid version of Sophie would've LOVED that little quiz at the end.
This was really a wonderful experience and is very educational whilst be easy to follow and fun. I would definitely recommend.
This book was so sweet! The illustrations are absolutely stunning and so colorful, so much to look at! I also loved how educational and engaging the book was. It teaches all about Diwali while still being fun. I also really appreciated the crafts, recipes, and quizzes at the end. I learned a lot and I feel like this is a great children's book!
