As an ARC reader, I had the privilege of experiencing Leslie Wolfe's latest audiobook, "The Hospital," a psychological thriller that hooks you from the very first sentence and refuses to let go. Narrated with impeccable skill, the story of Emma’s bewildering and terrifying journey is brought to life in a way that makes it nearly impossible to press pause.
The plot is a masterclass in suspense. When Emma wakes up in a hospital, she knows only three things: her name, someone tried to kill her, and she can’t remember who. This setup immediately draws listeners into her fragmented reality, where every detail is critical and every memory suspect. Wolfe’s narrative prowess shines through as she unravels Emma’s past and present, blending them into a tense, atmospheric tale of survival and trust—or the lack thereof.
Emma’s struggle with amnesia is depicted with harrowing clarity. As she blinks away the haze and pieces together her life, the sense of danger is palpable. The hospital, which should be a sanctuary, instead feels like a labyrinth of hidden threats and deceitful faces. The sirens in the distance and the scratchy cloth of her hospital bed serve as constant reminders of her vulnerability and the pressing need to uncover the truth.
One of the most compelling aspects of "The Hospital" is its cast of characters. From the seemingly compassionate doctors and nurses to the estranged husband with his new girlfriend, each interaction layers the mystery further. Emma’s determination to reclaim her memories and understand the betrayals she faces is both heart-wrenching and inspiring. Her world is in shambles, yet her will to survive and seek out the truth never wavers.
Wolfe's writing is complemented perfectly by the audiobook format. The narrator’s ability to convey Emma’s fear, confusion, and resolve adds an additional layer of depth to the story. The subtle inflections and emotional nuances captured in the narration make the listening experience immersive and intense, keeping the audience on edge throughout.
As Emma delves deeper into her past, the twists and turns become more shocking and unpredictable. Wolfe skillfully plants red herrings and misleading clues, ensuring that just when you think you have it all figured out, another revelation turns everything upside down. This relentless pace and the jaw-dropping twists make "The Hospital" a standout thriller that fans of Freida McFadden, Lisa Jewell, and Shari Lapena will devour.
In conclusion, "The Hospital" by Leslie Wolfe is a gripping, mind-bending thriller that excels in both written and audio formats. It’s a story about memory, trust, and the lengths one will go to uncover the truth. With its dynamic characters, atmospheric setting, and relentless suspense, this audiobook is a must-listen for anyone who enjoys being kept on the edge of their seat. Prepare for a roller-coaster ride of emotions and revelations that will leave you questioning everything you thought you knew.
The Hospital by Leslie Wolfe
(Narrated by Tanya Eby)
Emma was in hospital and she forgot why she was sent there. She tried to figure out what happened. Now she knew she could trust no one, even her memory.
The twists and turns were amazing. The storyplot was wonderfully written and kept me guessing what’s next. The narrator successfully created the mystery and creepy vibe of the story.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for my copy.

Wow what a read, well actually listen! This book kept you guessing until the very end with Emma trying to figure out the reasoning for her stay in the hospital! The twist and turns kept you on your toes and kept me guessing the entire book.
Thanks you NetGalley, so the advance audio book.
I love these weird little audiobooks. Our girl is knocked out in her driveway and wakes up in a "hospital" with people attending to her needs.
She is blind and paralyzed. She is drugged up. She can't remember years of her life.
She spends weeks trying to piece it together with a few visits from her weirdo friends and the doctor, who seems to have a lot of time for this.
It gets stranger and stranger as she works though her unreliable memory. I loved the ex-husband's fiance. That was hilarious.
The narration was wonderful too!
With a distinctly different premise, I was keen to see how this would play out, and I certainly wasn't disappointed. It was a fabulous listen.
It took me a while to get into this book and really understand how it was going to resolve. The first half was about set up and the final half was so good. It kept me totally engaged and I wanted to know what was going to happen - no I didnt guess until near the end.
The narration worked really well and I enjoyed it.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Hospital by Leslie Wolfe an audiobook narrated by Tanya Eby is a completely shocking psychological thriller with a breathtaking and unexpected twist.
This storyline is absolutely original. I never come across anything like this book, not even similar! It's so refreshing to get something completely original!
In the first half of the book, you are just wondering where all this is going and the second part comes in with twists and turns and it feels like a wild ride!
When Emma wakes up in the hospital she doesn't have a memory of what happened but she knows, someone was trying to kiII her. Now she is stressed that whoever tried it will return to finish the job.
She can't see and she can't move her body so she can't protect herself. All she can do is rely on Dr Sokolowski and nurses who look after her. Bit by bit her memory is returning. Will she remember who attacked her?
I absolutely enjoyed Tanya Eby narration! She managed to make voices so was easy to follow characters.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this audio.
I really wanted to like this book but I just couldn’t get in to it. I DNFed it at about 40%. I just couldn’t.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was great! I loved the premise and the execution was even better with lots of twists and turns. Highly recommend this one, especially for Freida McFadden fans!
Emma wakes up in the hospital and all she can remember is who she is and that someone hurt her. When she wakes up she finds that she cannot see or move. She only has vague memories of the attack and knows almost nothing about her own life either. She can tell that the answers lie in her memory but she can't get a grasp on the past. She knows that she is actress and pieces together that she is married to a director as well. It frustrating that she can't her body or her thoughts when all she wants are answers.
This is a fantastic psychological thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat as you try to figure it out with Emma. I loved this audiobook!! It was easy to binge because I wanted to figure it out! I am on the lookout for everything by Leslie Wolfe because I also loved The Surgeon.
