A hilarious and sarcastic novel, The Last Man in Paradise starts out feeling much like a comedy of errors but quickly becomes a work of deeper literature that will sit with me for a long time. Masood investigates the intricacies of what it means to claim certain parts of your identity for yourself and live that truth authentically, while also chaffing against how others in your community might think you should be behaving or interacting with your identity. This novel continually poses thought-provoking questions about how identity politics can cause discord intra-communally. The Last Man in Paradise also looks at how positions of power and the misinterpretation of religious/sacred texts allow for abuse, negligence, and radicalization to fester and breed within a community and can lead to harm. A true show-stopping book that has me wanting to read more from Syed M. Masood.

The last Man in Paradise was another excellent book by Syed Masood. Although I liked the Bad Muslim Discount more, I appreciated his character study in this one

Thank You, NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to listen to The Last Man in Paradise by Syed M. Masood.
I was really looking forward to reading this but somehow this didn't work for me as much as I would have liked to.
But still, since it's just my personal perspective, would recommend you to read it and decide for yourself.
Thank You

This was such a great story that was emotional yet humorous all at the same time, I usually love a dual pov with a male perspective so this was fun to add into the mix! Aazans family was cheeky & full of personality making this a delight to listen to!

I was really excited for this newest book from Muslim author, Syed M. Masood. I loved their last book and find them often quite funny but this one was a difficult for me to get into. I had to DNF about 25% of the way in when I wasn't caring about the characters and felt like the plot was too slow moving for my taste. Maybe just a me thing or a wrong mood wrong time thing but it wasn't for me. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest feedback!
