Firstly, I must say, go into this knowing this isn’t a typical Moriarty story. This one was magical realism perfection. I loved that we got multi POVs to witness and explore. This was full of love, emotion, and messages to contemplate!
3.5⭐️
This was a very unique story with an interesting premise. This was my first book from this author. I enjoyed the different storylines and hopping back and forth between characters. The book did keep me interested but I thought there were some slow parts in the first half. I will definitely check out the other books written by this author.
4.5 stars
I just love her books! This book starts a little slow and there are a lot of POVs that take a bit to grasp, but once the book gets going, it is very good!
This book has a very interesting concept that is executed very well. I got very attached to all the characters and I loved some of the connections that are revealed throughout the book.
Thanks NetGalley and publisher for the digital copy in exchange for my honest review!
This was a really interesting book... unfortunately, it took me a long time to get into it and understand who the characters were, including the main character, Cherry.
What would you do if a 'psychic' told you what your age of death and cause of death would be? That is the premise of the story. On a flight, an older woman (Cherry) starts walking down the aisle, pointing to different people and telling them when they would die and how they would die. Obviously, this causes a chaotic situation.
There are many different POV's in this book - several different people that were on the flight with Cherry, as well as Cherry's POV in the first person. It's interesting to see how people live their life differently (or not) based on Cherry's prediction. Especially when people that were on the flight start dying, just as she predicted, although that doesn't happen until almost the 50% mark.
It makes you think about your own mortality, and what you would do if someone predicted your death. How would you live your life? I love how everything came together at the end. Cherry was definitely a complex woman.
Not going to lie, the first quarter of the book dragged for me and I kept saying WHAT is going on. But then something clicked after that and I finished the last half of the book in one sitting.
What sets Liane Moriarty apart from others is the way she writes her characters. Even the "bad" ones have something that keeps you intrigued and caring about them until the very end. Everything came together in this book in a way that both surprised and delighted me. I finished this book over a week ago and it's still stuck with me. This would make a compelling TV series.
I will be recommending this to others.
Thank you to NetGalley and Crown Publishing for the ARC!
I always love Liane Moriarty, so I was super excited to read her new book, Here One Moment.
What would you do if you were on your flight minding your own business, and a lady comes up to you and tells you when and how you will die? Would you believe her? Would you do everything in your power to change the prediction?
This story follows 6 different passengers and their experiences after the prediction. I liked this one! It wasnt my favorite of hers but still kept me engaged. I had a hard time remembering each passenger, but I really enjoyed the concept of the book.
"It is only when we truly know and understand
That we have a limited time on Earth and that we
Have no way of knowing when our time is up
That we being to live each day to the fullest, as if
It were the only one we had.”
- Elisabeth Kübler-Ross
I loved this quote that ended the book. It really captured the full essence of the pages I just finished. The way the different characters all had different reactions to the news of their predicted death was so interesting. They each made different choices to live their life. And it impacted their relationships with others for better or worse. I also loved the way Liane Moriarty wove in the background of Cherry and her life leading up to and following the flight. An easy 4 star rating from me!!!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC.
I love all of Liane Moriarty's books so I was very interested to give this book a try. This is a slower pace than most of her books, but it was going more into each character and their backstory. I really enjoyed the ending and how things tied together.
The beginning of this book grabbed me from the start and I’ve read a few other books of Liane Moriarty so I was hoping this new one would be amazing. Sadly about halfway in I lost interest and the book just dragged for me. It took almost a month for me to finish! I don’t even know if I like or dislike death lady. I couldn’t really connect with the characters. Maybe this one just wasn’t for me.
5 Stars!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this ARC.
I love Liane Moriarty's books. Great author.
The characters are believable and the story sucks you in. This book had me hooked from the first page to the last.

I was intimidated by this novel due to its length and number of chapters, but once I picked it up I read it in just a few days. It centers on the backstory of a woman who predicts the age and manner of death of passengers on a plane and the ways those predictions impact the other passengers.
I found the book quite thought provoking, wondering how I would respond to a similar experience. The book came together well and I enjoyed the ending. I would normally not read a book of this length, but I’m glad I gave it a go!
I love books that make me think and the detailed lives of the many characters so I rate this book 5 stars.

I will start off by saying that this book is long and it feels longer than it actually is. The chapters are not huge; some even consist of less than a page. There are a lot of characters and scenarios to keep track of, so I think this is what makes the book feel like it drags. The chapters alternate between all of the characters and also between past and present. I think it would have been better to start each one with a character's name, rather than a simply chapter number.
It sort of feels like the Final Destination movies in a way. The core cast of characters are all on a plane together. One of the passengers has what seems like a blackout period where she tells each person how they will die and at what age, but she does not remember ever doing this. The passengers get that eerie feeling that now death is coming for them. I wanted to root for each person to avoid their untimely demises. The only character that was hard for me to enjoy was the "death lady" herself. Her chapters were the worst to get through at times.
In the end, the overall feeling of the book was rather remarkable. Although it felt like it took a long time to get there, when the ending did come, I did not want to stop reading. I wanted to continue the journey with everyone. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys feeling deeper emotions. The length of the book is greatly outweighed by the outcome.
Leave it to Liane Moriarty to completely suck you into a story like this one. From the very beginning I knew this was going to be a wild ride and it really was. I love the drama of the "predictions" but most of all I loved everything coming together the way it always seems to in her books. Connections are formed and revealed in ways I definitely did not see coming.
I was hoping for good things from this book since its Liane Moriarty, and while it started out strong, it really didn't hold up for me.
This was a slow move for me. The flashbacks to the main characters lives were not needed for me to enjoy the book. I was much more invested in the current day cast of characters. The last third of the book, it did pick up and I enjoyed that much more.
I am a big fan of Liane Moriarty and have read most of her books so was very excited to get this ARC from NetGalley. The story read like a classic Moriarty novel with quirky but lovable characters. Moriarty’s style is often a bit a of rambling, train of consciousness, which generally contributes to the character development. In this book there was a lot of background story telling by one of the characters who took on this style and I found it to be a bit much at times which is the reason I dropped one star. Otherwise it was a very enjoyable read and would recommend it to anyone!
I’m a huge Liane Moriarty fan and always excited when she’s got a new title hitting.
This one is hard for me to review. It started out strong with such an intriguing first few scenes. And the ending was exactly as I’d hoped it would be so that was great. Unfortunately, the middle was a bit of a slog and took me forever to get through.
So while I still consider myself a fan, this one just didn’t quite do it for me.

On a normal flight, a woman predicts cause and age of death for the passengers on the plane. When her prediction comes through for one of the passengers pretty soon after the flight, others start to worry. Should they avoid the things that she said would cause their deaths? All in all, this was an intriguing read. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
So good, could not put it down!!
On an otherwise fairly normal delayed flight, the “Death Lady” walked through the cabin giving people their age and cause of death predictions, starting a butterfly effect of impacts across the other passengers lives.
We get to follow along as Cherry tells us how she became the Death Lady, and how so many of the passengers are coping with the aftermath. Some of them, not coping well at all. Others have made drastic life changes to try to beat their death predictions. But when the predictions start to come true, all bets are off.

Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin Random House and Liane Moriarty for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Here One Moment.
I thoroughly enjoyed this speculative fiction/thriller by one of my favorite authors, Liane Moriarty. I found this emotional, disturbing, a bit snarky and kept me quickly turning the pages. The characters are well developed , unique and all change through their experience with Cherry and her predictions of death. All of the characters were realistic and human. I could identify with each and everyone of them. I especially enjoyed Cherry’s back story and how she became such a complicated woman.
This story made me think of my own mortality. Would I change my decisions if I knew how and when I was going to die? Like most of the characters the answer is yes. This story would make a great screen adaptation. I’’m hopeful that occurs. This story has been on my mind for days after I finished it. That to me is an indication of a great novel. Five stars, without a doubt!
