📖📖 Book Review 📖📖 Wow. Just wow. I was not expecting this one at all! To be honest, I hit the “request” button because I have loved everything I have read by Liane Moriarty. While this one was so different from anything I have ever read, it did not disappoint one bit! In what might be one of the worst plane rides imaginable, a psychic predicts the age and nature of the deaths of the fellow passengers on board in a pretty big spectacle. A turbulently delightful, fun, quirky existential read that will have you furiously turning the pages! How does fate fit into our daily lives and how much control do we have over our destiny?

I’m a huge fan of Liane Moriarty’s books, I binged them all during lockdown, read Apples Never Fall cover-to-cover on publication day and have been waiting for a new one ever since.
Here One Moment tells the story of an ordinary domestic flight, and “The Death Lady” an otherwise forgettable older lady who predicts the causes of death and age at death for several unsuspecting passengers.
A few months later one of the passengers dies as predicted and the other passengers must question whether or not they believe in the predictions - ‘If you knew your future, would you try to fight fate?’.
We learn all about “The Death Lady”, chapters alternate between her life story and the lives of the passengers. It’s captivating, Liane Moriarty’s character writing is as great as ever with her dry humour and witty asides. There’s lots of reflection from lots of characters, life, love, loss, grief and regrets. It’s reflective, poignant and tender, I loved it.
It’s a long book, over 500 pages and I enjoyed every minute. It’s faster than Apples Never Falls and there’s a huge one-more-chapter-factor as it switches between the various character stories.
Wonderful!
Thanks to Netgalley and Crown Publishing
This book was really, really good. Lianne Moriarty is such a fantastic author. A great story is when you can’t see how it’ll possibly end, but then the author does it so incredibly well, and to top it off you walk away from the book feeling like something in you has been positively impacted. Definitely recommend.
I’m sobbing. This book was so beautiful and inspiring. I especially related to the young mother’s POV and her story. For as long as this book is, it kept me hooked and wanting to just be constantly reading it. It also has short chapters which I love. I think the epilogue was one of my favorite parts. But overall, I just loved so many of the characters and felt so attached to them by the end, I didn’t want it to be over.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!
An epic story of words to live by, or fear or to battle your beliefs.
Cherry is certainly one amazing and powerful woman. Though at times I'm sure she feels that all but true.
Her life has been full of interesting events brought together by a gift she's not sure she truly holds.
When her husband suddenly passes away she has an eventful turn of events that occur forever changing her life and many others. Some in ways more devastating then possible. All due to her grieving. As well as her believing she may have inherited her mother's psychic ability.
Devastating, heartbreaking and grief all play a major part in this unforgettable story.
Not all things go as predicted. This book has some beautifully preserved moments full of loving memories and times with Cherrys friends and family. Which rounds out the story in such a positive way.
This is a truly remarkable book.

Thank you NetGalley and Liane Moriarty for the chance to read this book.
I loved it so much! It’s only not 5 stars because some parts felt like a bit too much filler storyline and I felt I didn’t need to read it all. Other than that, I loved the characters and seeing how everyone reacted to their “death date” and how the did everything they could to figure out who Cherry was.
I loved Cherrys love stories, and her mother’s predictions for her life and the connections we see later on that help bring everything full circle.
Side note - Neve falling and just laying there while the dog licked her made me literally laugh out loud, and she might have been my favorite side character!
Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.
This started off really strong: a woman walks through an airplane, pointing at each person and telling them how and when they will die. It’s a viral video waiting to happen! When her predictions start coming true, each person whose deaths are approaching begins to lose it. I was let down by the ending and wanted more, but overall it was a great read with a unique plot. Loved the short chapters too.
I couldn’t stop thinking about this book! Mysterious, hopeful and filled with lessons about life’s hard truths. Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this ARC!
Passengers all on a flight are given a prediction from lady death. Many don’t take it seriously until her predictions start coming true. From there we are taken through a few of the passengers POV as they struggle with disbelief, free will and fate. The overall story was beautifully written and more positive than I thought it’d be.
Wow. I am speechless. I love Liane Moriarty’s books and this one exceeded my expectations. As passengers encounter “The Death Lady” on a short flight, they learn of their predicted age and cause of death. Predictions start coming true which causes them to evaluate their lives and decide how they will live with the time they have left. I couldn’t put this book down the moment I started reading it – I was captivated from the first page. I can’t stop thinking about how beautifully woven aspects of this story are – in ways that were completely unexpected. I also can’t stop reflecting on the importance and brevity of our lives – and what would I do if I knew I only had a short amount of time left? Or what are the downstream effects of decisions and actions we make each day? This was a great read! Thank you Crown Publishing and NetGalley for the eARC!
Here One Moment, by Liane Moriarty, is an attention grabbing novel from the very beginning. How would you react if a stranger came up to you and calming stated your cause of death and your age when it would happen? Would you immediately dismiss them as a deranged person or would her words haunt you from that moment on. This book is about a women on an airplane who methodically approached most of the passengers and informed them of their future deaths. Many of the passengers were affected in different ways and their stories are presented here. I also liked how Moriarty, in alternating chapters, portrayed the life of this woman who gave out the predictions. I would say this is one of Liane Moriarty’s best books.
Beautiful, unique story and amazing writing. I'll be thinking of this book for a long time. Highly recommended.

ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Here One Moment is the highly anticipated new novel by Liane Moriarty. In this book the theme of living your life to the fullest is explored.
I have never been disappointed by a Liane Moriarty book and I still haven't been! I thought the story was unique and thought provoking. I enjoyed the alternating timeline/view points. I became very invested in each character.
I was given this book in exchange for my honest opinion. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.
This new book by Liane Moriarty is really interesting and I was sucked in from the start. A woman traveling on a plane gets up and tells everyone on the flight how old they'll be when they die and what they'll die from. The story, then, is what happens to several of the people who were informed of their demise, interspersed with the life story of the woman (who comes to be known as the Death Lady). I liked all the characters, and really did not want any of them to die (especially in the ways they suspected). In typical Moriarty fashion, there are a LOT of characters in this book, and I could have probably done with one fewer (probably either Leo or Ethan). I think the Death Lady's stories went on a bit long as well. All in all, it was a good read that just needed a bit tightening up.
Liane Moriarty does not disappoint. Here One Moment had me from the moment I started until I finished. I thought it was a very well written book of a premise I never read before. All of the characters were engaging and likeable, including the wacky narrator. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Here One Moment. I highly recommend the book. (I read it in two days)
Thank you to NetGalley for the arc and this is my honest opinion of the book
I really liked this one (but did think it was a little long) and enjoyed the concept! It had a diverse cast of characters and can definitely see it being made into a tv mini series.
Can we tempt fate, or do we accept fate? Cherry's mom. the much later in life fortune teller, would always say, "Fate cannot be fought." Was Cherry's mom a true psychic? Cherry never figured that one out completely.
I found this new novel by Liane Moriarty intriguing. I've liked many of Moriarty's to date - Big Little Lies, Apples Never Fall, Nine Perfect Strangers. Like her others, Here One Moment, contains delightfully, eccentric and quirky characters whose lives become not only entwined, but later intertwined by a chance encounter of being on the same flight back to Sydney.
As with many of Moriarty's previous works, Here One Moment is told as a flashback. The story opens with our main character, Cherry Lockwood (now probably in her early 70s), walking up and down the aisle of a plane predicting the age and cause of death of each of the flight's passengers. Would you want to know when and why you were going to die? This bizarreness causes a frenzy with the plane's passengers. Is Cherry the real deal? She did seem to be in an almost catatonic state during her "episode."
What follows is full disclosure on Cherry's entire life and also background and current updates on the passengers' lives. Some are "dying" to find her to ask her more; however, her identity is shrouded in mystery, as she was traveling alone and people were so taken back with her predictions. She certainly wasn't asked any informational or personal questions about herself.
She's soon dubbed the "Death Lady" by Tik Toc as some of her predictions start to materialize.
I really enjoyed the way Moriarty introduced multiple little nuances about the characters that tie their lives together as they search for answers concerning their own predictions.
I ended up loving the plot and the characters. Thank you, NetGalley and Crown Publishing for this ARC of Liane Moriarty's newest novel.
"It is only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on Earth and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up that we begin to live each day to the fullest as if it were the only one we had." - Elizabeth Kübler-Ross
What an appropriate quote to appear on this book's ending page.
It's 4 1/2 stars for me.
Once again Liane Moriarty creates a captivating cast of characters and an engaging plot. I love how she winds separate story threads back together. Her use of flashbacks and forwards reveals and unfolds the story so beautifully.
I'll be honest - I didn't even read the description of Here One Moment before I requested and began reading an advanced copy. I have read several other books by Moriarty, and while my thoughts on them are varied, I am still always eager to read Moriarty's novels, because I feel like they are so unlike anything else I read. If I HAD read the description of Here One Moment, I can't honestly say that I would have chosen to read it. A fortune teller predicting deaths on an airplane? The Deathy Lady? Not my typical read. Yet I'm so glad I did end up reading it (and I can honestly say that 400+ pages prettyb much flew by), because it was very thought provoking and unique. The entire book I mused to myself trying to answer the question that it posed - how would you live your life if you knew exactly how and when it would end. I didn't come up with a solid answer, but it definitely still has me thinking. I loved how the chapters alternated between Cherry ("The Death Lady") and the other passengers on the plane who had received death predictions. It kept me constantly wanting to keep reading and not stop, because I just couldn't wait to find out what happened to everyone. Learning Cherry's own story along the way was a surprising little gift as well.

I feel like I just ran the longest marathon of my life through the twilight zone trying to escape death and I’m exhausted!!
“A small gray-haired lady is midway down the plane, pointing at passengers on both sides of the aisle one by one, as if she’s assigning tasks. It’s clear she is leaving ripples of mild consternation in her wake. Virtually every single head turns to watch.”
“Grandma never said another word. She died ten days later. You never know what your last words are going to be , try to choose them all and wisely.”

I was sooo exited to receive this ARC as I am a HUGE fan of Big Little Lies , so those who are like me lower your expectations this is nothing like it !
When I first started reading Here One Moment it was giving me old Twilight Zone vibes , it starts off so mysteriously, we have this woman known as the “Death Lady “walking around on a plane and she’s pointing to every passenger and predicting how they are going to die .
As you read you find yourself getting more and more curious about these passengers personal lives . What would you do with that information some psychic tells you when you’re going to die ??
Would you let it roll off your back or would you let it take over your life and live in fear questioning, is today the day ?
Then two weeks later the first deaths come true , everyone is in a frenzy and chaos starts!!
This was a long slow burn mystery that really had me thinking about just everyday life in general and not to take a moment for granted. At times I heard the theme sound for White Lotus playing in the background as the book had this odd peculiar mystery to it .
I think this would make a fantastic series as you would really get to dive deeper into the lives of these characters and some of the main characters witty commentary & personal thoughts !
Thank you NetGalley , Crown Publishing and Liane Moriarity for this digital ARC!!

Thanks NetGalley and Crown Publishing for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely loved this book. I wanted to see how everything came together, and I was so invested in the characters that I couldn’t put the book down. The math connections were also really interesting. I loved the multiple points of view. I just wish that my favourite couple of characters appeared more often. I felt like their relationship and experiences needed to be summed up a bit more. I would still highly recommend this book and suggest checking it out when published in September. (I do find it more Fiction than Mystery.)
