Oh how I wanted to love this one, a single dad and christmas romance, unfortunately this one did not live up to my expectations. It was just bland and the characters just aggravated me. Too many misunderstandings and it just ended up not working for me and feeling for their connection.
A disappointing story that didn’t live up to expectations. The characters go from childhood friends, to strangers after he refuses her advances. Then within 24 hours they go from being thrown together on a getaway bachelor/bachelorette weekend, to agreeing to be friends again to sleeping together. The relationship feels unbelievable and inauthentic but the quirky Christmas and party antic vibes make up for a mediocre plot.
One of my biggest pet peeves in romance is when one or both halves of the couple has this whole back and forth of “I love them… oh but I shouldn’t be with them… but I need them.” It’s exhausting and that’s exactly what happened here with the love interest.
I’ve been trying for over a week to push past this ick but for this man to sit here and say that he shouldn’t be with the mc, who he says he’s loved for years, but get jealous/possessive when someone else flirts with her is just not doing it for me.
I’m DNFing at like 60% but there are elements that I did enjoy like the little competitions and the mcs brother so I’ll leave it at 3 stars. Not for me but not a terrible book.
Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the advance reader copy of Christmas Sweater Weather by Jaqueline Snowe.
Hayden is the best friend of Charlotte’s older sibling. Years ago, Charlotte shared a kiss with Hayden which at the moment seemed like a dream come true but then Hayden rejected her and she was left mortified. Present day, the two are brought together amidst Christian (Charlotte’s sibling) and Penny’s wedding festivities. The story and development of their relationship is in the lead up to the wedding.
I thought that this was a cute, easy read. The holiday competition I thought was a fun element of the book. Definitely one that I could imagine grabbing over the holiday season if you’re looking for a cozy comfort read. Sometimes a misunderstandings set up can feel a bit weak but I did think the initial misunderstanding between these two was approached in a realistic, understanding way. However, I didn’t think that the third act misunderstanding was executed quite as well.
If you enjoy best friend’s sister, single dad, secret mutual pining, misunderstandings, this is a book to check out, especially for the upcoming holiday season.
Such a delightful winter read that I enjoyed! I'm so glad that I got the chance to read it early and will definitely be recommending it to multiple friends who enjoy christmas books. I enjoyed the characters and especially enjoyed the writing by this author. Great book to cozy up with! I'm excited to see what the author comes out with next as I'll definitely be reading it! Thank you to the publisher for my early copy of this book!
I really enjoyed the beginning of this book.
Almost second chance romance, brother’s best friend, and Christmas? Sounded like a whole lot of fun. And the first two thirds were. It really made me excited for the holiday season this year and brought me some comfort that only the holidays can. However, I didn’t love the last third of this one. And I honestly felt like Charlotte was too forgiving, but maybe I’m projecting😅
I felt like the third act breakup was in a way a little out of nowhere with his insecurities. We kinda saw them a little throughout, but I wish there was more backstory as to why they were there. And I wanted a little more groveling.
This one is out October 8 and you should give it a try to get into the holiday spirit! I’ll hopefully pick up her holiday read from last year. Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for my copy. All opinions are my own.
Give me a single dad where his best friend’s younger sister has a lifelong giant crush on him, and I’ll read it… this isn’t always the best decision.
I was hopeful starting this one, but my hopes were quickly dashed.
*it comes across as exceedingly juvenile (I had to check to make sure it wasn’t YA),
*the characters are one dimensional,
*plot was thin - Hallmark movies are more in-depth
I wasn’t the reader for this.
Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the DRC
A very cute childhood brothers best friend to lovers rom com. It’s an unexpected but expected love! So sweet and cute
I know it’s technically still summer, but I am loving all of the holiday reads so far. Christmas Sweater Weather was the latest holiday romcom that I read. Don’t skip this one.
Charlotte has had a crush on her brother’s best friend since childhood, but her attempt to act on it went very awry. Fast-forward three years to her brother's wedding adventure, when she has a car accident and must be rescued by said best friend to ignite a new round of tip-toeing and side=stepping before they finally each admit their feelings. There are several misunderstandings, an adorable little girl, and another good friend who seems a bit cringe-worthy BUT who could make a good protagonist for a future HEA story... It's a light-hearted, feel-good Christmas read.
This is basically a very stereotypical romance novel. Through in the popular tropes of brothers best friend and single dad and then add christmas spice and you get this book. It is essentially hallmark with spice.
2.5⭐️
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a super cute read! Charlotte and Hayden navigate the original conflict in their 'known each other forever" relationship fairly early on (although of course there is more drama later on - gotta work for that happily ever after!). The Christmas theme of the book and especially the fantastic contests the characters participate on are warm and cozy which is welcome given its hotter than heck right now in July, and I want to know how many the author made up themselves. Overall very enjoyable.
2.5 stars rounded up.
This was a super quick read, but it was lacking something for me. I liked the holiday romance but that’s where it ended. I wish the last 3rd of the book hadn’t happened - it didn’t feel like it fit the rest of the story and there was a 3rd act breakup for no reason. Plus, there were way too many public declarations for me.
Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
This was a cute, fairly quick read.
I enjoyed the banter between characters, and the settings described would certainly make Hallmark proud. 😂
It’s not a bad book, but it doesn’t stand out as one of those, “I must make sure to buy this, in both ebook and hard copy, when it comes out,” type of impact stories. It’s good fluff and some quick hot and heavy scenes, and sometimes that’s all one needs or wants in a book!

Christmas came early for me! Jaqueline's books are always a must read and never disappoint. This one was no exception! From the witty banter to the heartfelt emotions to the swoony romance, I think I' have found a new favorite holiday romance. After I finished, I immediately ordered a physical copy for myself and another to give to a client. A+
Christmas Sweater Weather was okay. It was missing the back and forth before the couple gets together for the first time. Can she forgive him or not (that sort of conflict).
3.75 / 5- Cozy Christmas read! Very hallmark with endearing second chance love, brother’s best friend, single dad tropes with some mild spicy scenes.
Charlotte has had a crush on her brother’s best friend Hayden since they were young. To protect his friendship, he turns her down and she assumes her feelings are one sided. Now as adults, he’s a close family friend and his daughter has stolen everyone’s hearts, including Char’s. She still has unrequited feelings for him, but tried to avoid spending time alone with him.
Her crazy Christmas loving brother and his fiancé Penny decide to do a joint pre-Christmas wedding party, complete with Christmas themed challenges. On the way to the ski lodge, her car gets stuck and Hayden saves the day. Sparks ignite.
Thank you NetGalley, Forever publisher, and author Jacqueline Snowe for this ARC

This was such a fun read! Christmas - check! Romance - check! Fun holiday antics - check! Charlotte and Hayden have known eachother for years, but haven't given in to their feelings for eachother. When attending wedding events for Charlotte's brother/Hayden's best friend, things start to take s turn. This is a quick read, full of strong women, supportive family and chosen family, and single parent (dad) dynamics. Highly recommend!
I absolutely loved Charlotte and Hayden. The tension of their forbidden attraction, mixed with the warmth of the holiday season, made for an unputdownable read. It’s a perfect blend of steamy and sweet, capturing all the enchantment of Christmas. I adored every minute of this delightful, festive love story.
