🎄ARC Review🎄

If you are a sucker for Hallmark Christmas movies (like myself) with a little extra spice this is the book for you! Such a cute read!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5

Charlotte finds herself in a snow bank on the way up to celebrating her brothers bachelor/bachelorette party. Unfortunately, the only person who can help her is Hayden, her brothers best friend. She’s had a crush on him since they were younger, but after he turned her down, she’s been avoiding being alone with him. To say she’s dreading this weekend is an understatement. However, the force proximity of the weekend seems to be good for them 🤭🤭 Hayden helps Charlotte prepare for an important interview, while Charlotte helps Hayden come up with a plan for watching and finding a nanny for his daughter. Did I forget to to mention that Hayden is a single dad? 😅

I loved watching Charlotte find her confidence throughout the book! And she is such a loyal and supportive friend, sister, etc. I really enjoyed her character! Hayden was a little too hot and cold for me at times, but it wouldn’t be a potential Hallmark movie without a 3rd act breakup, so one of the main characters had to have a flaw 🤪 Plus, his love for his daughter makes up for it!

Overall, a great read and would recommend, especially for the holidays! This is available 10/8/24.

Christmas Sweater Weather is a great holiday romance filled with over the top holiday cheer, strong family ties and so much more.

Charlotte Calhoun has loved Hayden Porter most of her life- as her brother's best friend he has always been around. But after shutting her down 3 years ago, Charlotte has accepted that her crush was of the unrequited type while also keeping her distance. When a bridal party ski trip and a snow drift force her and Hayden together, alone- for the first time in years, Charlotte realizes those feelings never quite went away but also maybe they weren't as unrequited as she thought either.

This story is such a great warm up to the holidays. The Calhoun's are over the top Christmas lovers and basically live for the holiday so this book is filled with outlandish decorations, activities and more. They are also a very close knit family- while we don't actually get a lot of time with their parents but Charlotte and Christian have such an amazing sibling relationship where they are close friends on top of being related and it just made my heart happy. In fact their whole friend group is incredibly close adding that "found" family trope into the mix. Hayden's relationship with Christian and the rest of the Calhoun's is very much one where he views them as family, especially when they welcome his daughter with open arms, but he also seems to hold back like he is afraid that they will cast him out if he makes a wrong move.

I loved Charlotte! She is so fun and entertaining- her entire demeanor is a little wild but she is also driven, passionate and intensely loyal to those in her circle. Hayden was a little more of a mystery- a bit grumpy but also tried his best to be this incredibly doting father while achieving his career dreams as well. Hayden and Char have this great chemistry and so much in common that they just make sense and click together so well. Once Charlotte drops her guard and irritation around Hayden in an attempt to rekindle the friendship they once had their desire for each other took the drivers seat. Add Hayden's adorable daughter Gwen into the mix and they make an adorable little family.

I got a bit frustrated with Hayden- despite not having a reason outside of his own insecurities he was often quick to push Charlotte away or make choices about their relationship for her. I liked that she did make him work a bit to get back on her good side but she does also give him pretty quickly as well.

Overall this is a pretty low key, just enjoyable book that will have you feeling Christmasy and lovey all in the same moment!

If you are looking for an easy, upbeat holiday read, look no further. While this is not my typical genre, I did enjoy this book and was able to finish it in a weekend as it reads very quickly. Charlotte and Hayden have a history, and suddenly find themselves thrown together in close quarters on a ski weekend before Charlotte's brother's wedding. The tension builds through a series of awkward Christmas-related encounters, and eventually, Charlotte and Hayden give in to their mutual attraction. However, there are several complicating factors - Hayden's status as a single father, Charlotte's upcoming job interview, and the reluctance to tell Charlotte's brother who is also Hayden's best friend.

I liked that the storyline focused a lot on chosen family and surrounding yourself with the right people. However, there were aspects of the timeline that seemed rushed and others that I felt were more than a stretch of reality. Overall, if holiday romance is your genre, it is a quick enjoyable read.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I like Charlotte and Hayden's story. Some of the Christmas ideas were a hoot and some secondary characters were hilarious. Having crushed on ea ch other for years and finally getting to be together was wild.

This was a cozy holiday read that was a perfect winter equivalent to an enjoyable beach read!

Give me all the sweet Christmas stories!! This was hands down one of my favorite so far this season of ARC. I loved the main character and the sweet love she was experiencing.

Oh how I wanted to love this one, a single dad and christmas romance, unfortunately this one did not live up to my expectations. It was just bland and the characters just aggravated me. Too many misunderstandings and it just ended up not working for me and feeling for their connection.

A disappointing story that didn’t live up to expectations. The characters go from childhood friends, to strangers after he refuses her advances. Then within 24 hours they go from being thrown together on a getaway bachelor/bachelorette weekend, to agreeing to be friends again to sleeping together. The relationship feels unbelievable and inauthentic but the quirky Christmas and party antic vibes make up for a mediocre plot.

One of my biggest pet peeves in romance is when one or both halves of the couple has this whole back and forth of “I love them… oh but I shouldn’t be with them… but I need them.” It’s exhausting and that’s exactly what happened here with the love interest.

I’ve been trying for over a week to push past this ick but for this man to sit here and say that he shouldn’t be with the mc, who he says he’s loved for years, but get jealous/possessive when someone else flirts with her is just not doing it for me.

I’m DNFing at like 60% but there are elements that I did enjoy like the little competitions and the mcs brother so I’ll leave it at 3 stars. Not for me but not a terrible book.

Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the advance reader copy of Christmas Sweater Weather by Jaqueline Snowe.

Hayden is the best friend of Charlotte’s older sibling. Years ago, Charlotte shared a kiss with Hayden which at the moment seemed like a dream come true but then Hayden rejected her and she was left mortified. Present day, the two are brought together amidst Christian (Charlotte’s sibling) and Penny’s wedding festivities. The story and development of their relationship is in the lead up to the wedding.

I thought that this was a cute, easy read. The holiday competition I thought was a fun element of the book. Definitely one that I could imagine grabbing over the holiday season if you’re looking for a cozy comfort read. Sometimes a misunderstandings set up can feel a bit weak but I did think the initial misunderstanding between these two was approached in a realistic, understanding way. However, I didn’t think that the third act misunderstanding was executed quite as well.

If you enjoy best friend’s sister, single dad, secret mutual pining, misunderstandings, this is a book to check out, especially for the upcoming holiday season.

Such a delightful winter read that I enjoyed! I'm so glad that I got the chance to read it early and will definitely be recommending it to multiple friends who enjoy christmas books. I enjoyed the characters and especially enjoyed the writing by this author. Great book to cozy up with! I'm excited to see what the author comes out with next as I'll definitely be reading it! Thank you to the publisher for my early copy of this book!

I really enjoyed the beginning of this book.
Almost second chance romance, brother’s best friend, and Christmas? Sounded like a whole lot of fun. And the first two thirds were. It really made me excited for the holiday season this year and brought me some comfort that only the holidays can. However, I didn’t love the last third of this one. And I honestly felt like Charlotte was too forgiving, but maybe I’m projecting😅

I felt like the third act breakup was in a way a little out of nowhere with his insecurities. We kinda saw them a little throughout, but I wish there was more backstory as to why they were there. And I wanted a little more groveling.

This one is out October 8 and you should give it a try to get into the holiday spirit! I’ll hopefully pick up her holiday read from last year. Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for my copy. All opinions are my own.

Give me a single dad where his best friend’s younger sister has a lifelong giant crush on him, and I’ll read it… this isn’t always the best decision.

I was hopeful starting this one, but my hopes were quickly dashed.

*it comes across as exceedingly juvenile (I had to check to make sure it wasn’t YA),
*the characters are one dimensional,
*plot was thin - Hallmark movies are more in-depth

I wasn’t the reader for this.

I know it’s technically still summer, but I am loving all of the holiday reads so far. Christmas Sweater Weather was the latest holiday romcom that I read. Don’t skip this one.

Charlotte has had a crush on her brother’s best friend since childhood, but her attempt to act on it went very awry. Fast-forward three years to her brother's wedding adventure, when she has a car accident and must be rescued by said best friend to ignite a new round of tip-toeing and side=stepping before they finally each admit their feelings. There are several misunderstandings, an adorable little girl, and another good friend who seems a bit cringe-worthy BUT who could make a good protagonist for a future HEA story... It's a light-hearted, feel-good Christmas read.

This is basically a very stereotypical romance novel. Through in the popular tropes of brothers best friend and single dad and then add christmas spice and you get this book. It is essentially hallmark with spice.
