This was so cute, I just wish it was longer! Would love to know more of both of their backstorys, and the grandfather. The art is super beautiful as well!

I am a big fan of one-shot BL stories because they tend to capture your heart in only a few chapters and give you a satisfying ending. The Yearning Fox Lies in Wait is no exception. This manga has a few of my favorite elements: college setting, historical, and supernatural. The story goes by quickly but it is very enjoyable, and the romance itself is a bit of a slow burn. I do wish there was more to the story to show them together in the future but overall it is still good.

It's a lovely romance, but the whole book felt a bit rushed. It could have used a second volume to expand on the story and characters.

Since it's just one volume the story is rushed and yes in the beginning it's kind of boring but the last two acts were just so good and the bonus chapter was funny. I didn't know how the grandfather angle was going to fit in without making it awkward but it was done beautifully. Fox spirit kinda reminded me of the characters from Fruit Basket.

This was a sweet story with lovely art. However, as it's only one volume, I think I would have appreciated this slower romance over more volumes. It has a bittersweet yet realistic ending message, as is the case in a supernaturalxhuman romance.

4 stars This was cute and I would love more set in this universe. I did find this manga a bit quick and the time line of it could have gone a bit further but still a solid story.

This was a gentle romance with excellent graphics. The story was a slow burning romance with good characters and a satisfying ending.

The Yearning Fix Lies in Wait is a cute and cozy urban fantasy that blends legend with modern (from a historical fiction standpoint) life. It’s also an adorable and slightly comical story of a fox spirit living among humans and yet still being out of touch with them until that special human happens into his life. All around a perfect read to cleanse the palate or just to pass a slow evening with.

The Yearning Fox lies in Wait is a super sweet romantic maga that will make your heart swell while reading it. The characters are exciting and well developed. I particularly liked the drawing style. It was fun looking at all the details. I liked this peaceful feeling of slice of life mixed with fantasy and romance. All in all, really successful

The art was beautiful and I really wanted to like this, but I just couldn't get into it. I feel like the story progressed just too slow for my liking.

This is just gorgeous!!!!
Although there is a bit of built up, it could have been more and more spicy so I was both very disappointed and satisfied in the ending.
I really loved Ozaki's TAIL WAGGLES!!!!

It's an incredibly sweet and gentle story. It's fast-paced but not too fast, which is normal because it's a stand-alone. I wouldn't mind reading more about these two, I would LOVE a lot more...
I like that Ozaki new and kind of loved Kiyo's grandfather. And I would have loved to read more of both Ozaki and Seishirou's past and the future of Kiyo and Ozaki.

It is nice and very beautiful and I would definitely recommend.

Oh, I need just…15 more pages of this. THOSE pages. }:) So, that does tell you, that while this is a successful romance, it remains at a teen rating.

Tokyo, 1920s. Kiyo Fukusaku is excited to start at the Imperial University, but immediately gets overwhelmed by the big city. Luckily, he stumbles upon a charming mansion and its even more charming master, Ozaki. Kiyo is invited to stay, and very soon discovers that Ozaki is an idle kitsune, and a long-lived one, having known Kiyo’s grandfather.

Kiyo is kind of your standard-looking pursued love interest, but damn, there is not a panel of Ozaki that misses. That is a fine-looking fox. And I do appreciate the little bit of teeth we get to see. Ack…I REALLY wish this manga had included more spice!

But, overall, it was fun, and I’m glad I got picked to review! Thanks, Kodansha!

While trying to find lodging, he runs into the mysterious Ozaki, who offers him a place to stay in exchange for helping to keep the house clean. But soon Kiyo realizes there’s more to Ozaki than he originally realized

This was a cute read. I really enjoyed Kiyo and the friendship he built with Ozaki. I like how their relationship evolved over the story and the way Japanese lore was built around it. I did find myself wishing it was longer, but overall it was a cute story

Overall this was a three star read for me. I enjoyed it but found myself wanting just a little bit more from the characters and I wish it was longer. This book did have a romantic subplot but no on page spice, so one flame for spice

If you’re a fan of sweet BL manga with cute characters, low angst and Japanese lore, then absolutely pick this one up!

I thought the premise was cute and so was the artwork but the story fell flat for me. I think they had a lot to do with so little pages but weren’t able to fully deliver. There were elements I really enjoyed between the MCs but the romance felt forced because it developed so quickly, I really wish this could’ve been a 3 volume series or something where more elements of the time period could’ve been added and their friendship/relationship could’ve deepened.

Overall I enjoyed reading it but just wanted more. Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the DRC!

This was a cute bl featuring a fox Yokai kind of character and a college student set in 1920s Japan. The interactions between the two MCs were always so sweet. But once they figured out they have feelings for each other they fall in love really fast. I wanted more backstory about Ozaki and his relationship with Kiyo's grandfather. I wanted to see their relationship progress more. As soon as I was invested it was over. So I guess my biggest problem was that I wanted the story to be longer. Lol
Also, I loved the gorgeous art!
So if you are looking for a quick, wholesome historical bl with two adorable MCs this one was great. I just need a sequel.

The art is great, can’t say the same for the characters and romance. We don’t get to know the characters and the romance is just a switch, there is no falling in love.

Rushed. I liked the idea and it was a good story until the middle of the book. Both characters fall in love all of a sudden, so I couldn't connect with either of them or care for what was happening. Had it been developed into two, maybe three, volumes, it would have been much better.

So fun! I loved getting a look into 1920s Japanese culture, folklore, foods, etc…AND getting a BL story at the same time! Kiyo was so spunky and adorable. And I wish we got to learn more about Ozaki, but it made sense that a lot of his story remained a mystery since he tried to keep himself from opening up and getting close to Kiyo. The only thing that I think could’ve been a bit stronger is the proof behind Ozaki’s words when he tells Kiyo that he loves him and sees Kiyo separately from his grandfather. Ozaki called out for the grandfather repeatedly, so I think he should’ve at least listed out a few reasons why Kiyo is the one for him, but I still really enjoyed it. I also wouldn’t mind seeing what happens after Kiyo’s graduation…But I had a lot of fun reading this story!
