Another great read in the Haven River Ranch series! I was hooked immediately and didn’t want to put it down! It was pretty much a one sit read for me! I loved Jax and Sasha! This is one of those reads that you won’t want to end! You will grow super attached to these characters and won’t be ready to let them go. At least that’s how I feel! And the feels I sure did get!! It was like I was there watching the story play out. It was a movie in my mind. If you love small town, work place, accidental pregnancy, cowboy, forced proximity romances this is a must read! I cannot recommend this book enough!
This trope is typically not my favorite unless it’s done well and Devney did it so so good! It didn’t feel cringe at all. I loved Sasha and Jax. I loved how they both were healing for each other and how their relationship developed throughout the book.
this book is so so amazing and this author literally never does me wrong! i will be re reading this and loving it. it’s so romantic and beautiful and fun
“Jax Haven was the type of man who’d move mountains to keep a promise, even if it destroyed us both.”
It’s so good to be back at Haven River Ranch! From their grocery cart meet cute, I knew I was going to love Jax and Sasha’s story. And boy did they put me through the wringer! All the tension and pent up lust with this accidental pregnancy romance had me hot with anticipation.
“Sex was not the reason I’d come to Montana. A fling with a hot cowboy was not why I’d uprooted my life to endure a miserable winter.”
There was a lot of mysteries surrounding Sasha’s past throughout the book, her secrets were closely guarded, and she didn’t let anyone in. But I loved how Jax broke through with his “Tell me a lie, tell me a secret” line of questioning. I laughed at how Jax was so arrogant and cocky in his flirtation with Sasha, but she was having none of it once she realized he was technically her boss at Haven River Ranch. She closed herself off to anything with him, that is until a few glasses of champagne led to a little fun between the sheets and a big surprise neither were ready for or expected! I loved how once Jax’s got over the surprise of having a baby with Sasha, he embraced it. He had to put in a lot of work to get Sasha to let him in, but the payoff was worth it! Overall this story really built the anticipation of uncovering Sasha’s secrets while simultaneously having me fall in love with Jax’s never ending cowboy flirtatious ways!
“He kissed me like he was settling in to kiss me for the rest of my life.”

Let me start by saying that I had great expectations from Sunlight as I was obsessed with Cross roads, the first book in the series. 💜
So it was a cozy, emotional continuation of the Haven River Ranch series. Devney Perry has a way of building worlds that feel real and familiar, and once again, the ranch setting was a highlight for me. It feels like a place you'd want to visit, and I loved the small-town vibes woven throughout. 🤠💛😍
That being said, while the instant chemistry between Sasha and Jax had its sparks, I struggled a bit with their development as a couple. Jax, in particular, didn’t stand out to me as much as I’d hoped. His character felt a bit underdeveloped in some parts. Sasha, too, felt like she needed more backstory to fully flesh out her personality and motivations. There were moments where I questioned their connection, as their relationship seemed to move forward without a lot of on-page growth. 😐
On the pacing side, I found that it was a bit inconsistent. The timeline of their relationship progressed quickly in some places and then slowed down without much explanation. It made the progression of their romance feel a bit rushed at times, without showing us enough of how they really fell in love. 😖😣
On the positive side, the story had its heartfelt moments. I still enjoyed the atmosphere of the ranch and the dynamic between the supporting characters.
Overall, Sunlight is a sweet, emotional read, but it left me wanting more depth and development from the main characters. If you're a fan of small-town romances with a touch of drama and heart, you’ll still find plenty to enjoy here! 🫶🏼
A Devney Perry book with cowboys and an accidental pregnancy? Sign me up! Loved the tension between Jax and Sasha, and the story was really great. There was so much feeling and passion between those two, and the spice was *chef’s kiss*. Loved this!
I always love a DP audiobook and Sunlight was no exception! I was unexpectedly touched by Jax and Sasha's story. Accidentally pregnancy can be a hit or miss for me but Devney Perry always makes this trope work in the best possible way. I didn't like it quite as much as Crossroads but a solid story and I'd be really excited to see a third book in this series about Jax's best friend!

Sunlight follows Sasha, the new manager of the Ranch and Jax, West’s playboy younger brother.
Prior to her first day, Sasha meets a handsome, funny cowboy while attempting to borrow a grocery cart from the local grocery store. He’s the first person to make her laugh in months but it turns out her mystery man is none other than Jax Haven, well known ladies man and her boss.. sort of. Despite telling herself he’s off limits, their chemistry is off the charts 📈. Can Jax get Sasha to let he guard down and let him in?
Oh how I missed Haven River Ranch! I absolutely loved Crossroads and I had the highest of expectations for Sunlight and boy did Devney deliver! Now I’m not the biggest fan of the surprise pregnancy trope but I felt like it was done very well and while it was a big part of the storyline it wasn’t the ONLY thing Jax and Sasha were working through.
One my favourite things about the Haven River Ranch series is the element of mystery that’s included in each book! That part alone keeps me completely hooked; I had a million and two theories of who Eddie was and I kept changing my mind with each new crumb of info we got throughout the book! Seriously, this whole book had me hooked from start to finish!
Here’s some more of what you can expect from reading Sunlight:
🏔️Cowboy romance
☀️Surprise pregnancy
🏔️Enemies(ish) to lovers
☀️He’s her boss(ish)
🏔️Small town romance (Montana)
☀️Secrets and Mystery
🏔️Found Family
☀️Second book in a series
I absolutely devoured this book. We are back at Haven River Ranch! I highly recommend reading Crossroads prior to this book!
Devney will tug on your heart strings and you will feel ALL the feels. Jax and Sasha have the ultimate meet cute! 🥹😍
I’m not a huge fan of the accidental pregnancy trope - but damn does she write it the best! 👏🏻
5/5⭐️s
Are you kidding me?!🥹
I ate this book up and let me tell you, it has to be one of my favorite Devney books of all time. Sasha and Jax are EVERYTHING. And the ending!😭🤭
This is definitely one of my favorite Devney books I’ve EVER read. This story did something to my heart that I’ll probably never recover from. After Crossroads, I knew Jax’s story was going to be something special. He fell for Sasha so naturally and cared for her and the baby so amazingly.
I loved the subplot and suspense in this story. It added the much needed Devney Perry twist to her books.
I can’t wait for more from this series and this ranch!

oh to be back at haven river ranch! first and foremost, i literally love the setting of these stories. the idyllic montana ranch is just toooo perfect. 🥹 after absolutely loving ‘crossroads’, i had super high hopes for this one, and was really excited to receive an ARC!!
as for my review… it’s complicated. 🫠 again, i love the setting, and was so excited to not only get to hear about our OGs indya and west, but also get more about jax; west’s broody, “cowboy playboy” brother. i thought the surprise pregnancy trope was done well here, and there were some super sweet & tender moments throughout- along with some mild (imo) spice! BUT, overall i felt like the plot was really rushed in some places, and then really drawn out/filled with some unnecessary side details, which prevented me from really feeling a connection to the book the way i did with ‘crossroads’. i felt like i missed all the build-up and evolution of jax and sasha’s relationship because every few chapters there was a pretty big time jump, flashing forward to weeks/months ahead.
additionally, the mystery of “eddie” kinda frustrated me, because you were literally teased for like 85% of the book, and then when you finally got to the core of that sub-plot, everything was resolved and hashed out in the matter of one chapter. so overall, i did enjoy this story, but definitely wished for a little more plot development and tension between the main characters. i think this book is worth reading if you’ve read ‘crossroads’ so you can finish out the story about both brothers and their families!
Oh my gosh, this book stole my heart! This is a small-town, surprise pregnancy romance filled with all the feels, featuring Sasha—a strong but guarded FMC—and Jax, the charming, reformed playboy cowboy who falls for her hard and fast. This book had everything I love - healing, slow-burn romance, a bit of suspense, and so many sweet moments that melted my heart!
Sasha has her walls up, but after an unexpected encounter, she’s shocked to find out Jax is basically her boss at her new job managing his family’s ranch. Jax is smitten from the start and is determined to break through her defenses, while Sasha’s trying her best to keep things professional. But their chemistry? Completely undeniable. One intense night leads to a surprise pregnancy, making them face feelings they’ve both avoided.
I loved Jax’s patience and devotion to Sasha, always giving her space but also showing up whenever she needed him. His sweetness and care shined, while Sasha’s mysterious past added a layer of intrigue that kept me hooked. Watching her let Jax in and start to heal was beautiful.
Their relationship was steamy, playful, and tender all at once. So many swoony moments had me smiling, laughing, and tearing up. The ending was perfect, with a twist I didn’t see coming, wrapping up their journey beautifully. If you love a romance with a tough-but-vulnerable heroine and a cowboy hero who’s all in, this is your next must-read!
This is the second book in the Haven River Ranch series, and while you can totally enjoy it as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the first book, Crossroads, too—it’s another fantastic story you won’t want to miss!
Thank you so much Netgalley, Devney Perry and Montlakr for this arc🫶
devney perry does it again!! i will never not be in shock and awe by her writing and stories. i love the universes she creates in her books and all the characters in them. this book felt like such a warm hug and i loved it so much. the accidental pregnancy trope can be an iffy one for a lot of people, but this one was done so right. it took nothing away from the story and only added so so much to it!! i am dying to read book 3 in this series and know i wont be disappointed at all!
OH MY GODDD. Top 3 Devney book to this date. I still have a lot to read off of her backlist but holy crap, this book blew me out of the water. As someone who is actually such a big fan of the accidental pregnancy trope, this will be added to my "auto-recommend" list when people ask for recs!
I am loving the Haven River Ranch world. Crossroads was so good, but personally, I am SUCH a Sunlight fan. Cannot wait to have this book in my hands, truly. This accidental pregnancy, small town, workplace, forced proximity, cowboy romance is now on my list as favorites of the year!
Jax and Sasha have a really fun meet cute with lots of sexual tension. However, right when Jax tells her who he is, she recognizes the name as her new boss. Turning him down leaves Jax feeling shocked and more determined to show her the real him. Once the tension cracks between them, they share a night together that neither of them will be able to ever forget, mainly because 6 weeks later she ends up very much pregnant.
The storyline was so well done and it kept me interested the whole time! If there's one thing y'all should know about me, it's that cowboys are my freakin' kryptonite. Jax Haven is no exception.
i LOVED this one. i think i loved it more than crossroads which surprised me. it was emotional & sweet & flowed so so well. i think devney is the reason i’m a surprise baby believer & this !!! is why. truly, truly devney at her best.
such a cute small town/cowboy surprise pregnancy! Per usual, Devney always makes it so easy to get lost in her stories. I loved the push and pull of this one, and how they started as enemies but quickly became a unit. So so good!
Absolutely in love with this town. I knew I was going to like these two but oh my gosh it was so good I finished in one sitting! If you’re an accidental pregnancy lover I highly recommend this one.
another devney perry cowboy to love!!!! don’t mind if i do. this was the accidental pregnancy, cowboy romance i needed in my life!!! filled w chemistry, banter, tension, a little heartbreak and so much love.
jax haven is charming, caring and patient, determined to be the man that sasha deserves. sasha was so resilient and fiercely loyal to those she loves. i couldn’t have loved them more!! i adore this series so much!!
I loved this book so much that I did a re-read immediately after finishing!
- small town
- cowboy
- accidental pregnancy
- workplace romance
I’m a sucker for an accidental pregnancy book and Devney never lets me down with hers! Jax & Sasha were drawn to each other from the start and their chemistry was amazing. I love how their relationship unfolded and it was just so sweet!
The audiobook was also phenomenal and I cannot recommend this book and series more!
I really had a great time with this! There is so much to this story and it brought out every emotion.
