I would like to start this review by saying that it has no 3rd act breakup!!! 🤭
I really enjoyed this book! I loved the unrequited love between Jax and Sasha. Jax is the most perfect golden retriever boyfriend!
I’m really falling in love with Haven River Ranch, it’s such a beautiful place and I’m loving all the other setups for future couples!
This book had a lot of trauma healing which really pulled at my heartstrings at times but I love how it all panned out 🥰
*ARC given in exchange for an honest review
Obsessed. I was genuinely sad when this book ended because I didn’t want it to be over! You will feel all the feels and enjoy each and every one of them. I really couldn’t put this book down. The chemistry, dialogue, and characters are so amazing.
I loved the second book in the Haven River Ranch series and it didn’t disappoint. I devoured the story of Sasha and Jax Haven as they bonded and Jax became her safe space to unload her heavy emotions. As I read each chapter I kept cheering for the success of this couple and Devney Perry wrote theirs beautifully.
The accidental pregnancy was done so well and really made their story line piece together from the start.
Thank you for allowing me to read.
Such a sweet book! Devney was able to make sure both main characters had room to breathe and grow without being forced by outside circumstances. They fought their own demons and allowed each other to do it independently and together.
The surprise pregnancy was adorable. The way he’s all in 🥹
“Tell me a lie.” “Tell me a secret.” Well let me tell you Devney has done it again, this book is excellent! I could not out the book down. I loved Jax and Sasha. It was beautiful seeing their relationship grow and evolve throughout the book. Jax was just so steady making sure Sasha knew he was there and that she could count on him. His consistent caretaking was swoony. Sasha was unsure of herself but finally found herself a family again. I appreciated that both characters had been through some things but found ways to support the other and what they needed. Even haters of the accidental pregnancy trope will find themselves enthralled in this story with such compelling writing. This book is a must read for fans of her previous work.
I knew I was going to love this book because I couldn't stop thinking about Jax after reading Crossroads. I love that man so much and the way he fell for Sasha the moment they met in the grocery store parking lot. Their romance was slow burning, but so worth the wait. The last 10-15% was everything and I won't lie, a tear or two was shed. This series is shaping up to be a Devney Perry favorite and I've got my fingers crossed that we see more of Emery soon!
Well Jax and Sasha are super adorable. Two strong willed individuals and an unexpected pregnancy. Their story is super cute and even when Sasha does nothing but deny their connection, pregnant or not, you know how this one is going to end. I devoured this book in 24 hours. I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between these two and the multiple subplots made for an extremely entertaining read. The trauma of Sasha’s past and the way she helps get Jax through his own issues, I just ate it up. This series is really making me want to take a trip to explore Montana.
Tell me a lie. - I hated this book
Tell me a secret. - Jax is my new favorite MMC from Devney Perry. - Ok so that isn’t a secret anymore.
Jax and Sasha are perfect together. Individually I loved them but together they just made perfect sense. Sasha’s story had so much heartbreak and she continues to carry on. Jax is the fun, loving guy with hidden trauma and he just falls headfirst for Sasha. Add in an accidental pregnancy but don’t call it an accident. And I couldn’t love this book more. I love Haven River Ranch.
Thank you to Devney Perry and Valentine PR for the advanced digital copy. My thoughts are my own.
✨ Devney Perry must sprinkle some kind of magic into her books because once I picked this one up, I just COULD NOT put it down! ✨ I devoured it in less than 24 hours, and honestly, I’m already wishing I could experience it for the first time all over again. 😍
The way Devney creates her characters and builds her worlds is just chef’s kiss 👏. Haven River Ranch is seriously one of my all-time favorite fictional places. I wish it was real so I could visit—how amazing would that be?! 🏞️ I feel so connected to these characters (just like I did in book 1), probably because I see little pieces of myself in them. 💕
This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster! 🎢 I laughed, cried, fist-pumped the air, and even wanted to scream a few times. 😅 Sasha is my girl—I could totally see us being besties IRL. She’s hilarious, and her sense of humor is just spot on. Jax, on the other hand, is so much like my significant other—loving and always worrying (even when he doesn’t need to!). 🥰 And don’t even get me started on the "tell me a lie/tell me a secret" theme. 😭 Every time it came up, it tugged at my heartstrings in the best way. I cried SO much because you can feel the love radiating from this book, no matter what was happening.
I could gush about Sasha and Jax forever, and trust me, I will. I’m recommending this to all my friends! Even though accidental pregnancy isn’t usually my fave trope, Devney Perry is the exception. 💖 I LOVE SASHA AND JAX!!

I loved this book. I really enjoyed how this story was written, it moved through time smoothly without being drawn out but still getting the point across. Jax was such a sweetheart with Sasha and the reformed playboy troupe worked so well for him. Sasha was a little uptight but for good reason. I always love when books have a secret that we are slowly revealed and this one was perfect. With a pregnancy troupe, amazing chemistry, the family dynamic, and the characters internal struggles - this book had it all! As always, check for TWs and happy reading!
Jax and Sasha’s story has my heart. “Tell me a secret. Tell me a lie” I’m obsessed. It was an emotional book that had me falling in love with Jax with every page as he fought for the future he wanted. 10/10 always recommend a Devney Perry book
L I love anything written by Devney Perry, and would probably read her grocery list if she published it. With that being said– I ate this up. I loved seeing the difference in Jax from Crossroads to Sunlight, and I loved Sasha.
Jax had some very realistic reactions and thoughts (read: he’s a man LOL), and I thought it was comical to read. The dynamic between him and his family was also interesting to read from his POV. Obviously we learn how he came to be in book one, but seeing it from his eyes gave everything a totally new meaning. I don’t know if I can forgive Lily, although I know she is trying to earn forgiveness.
Sasha is very secretive and reserved, and I had a feeling Eddie was her brother based on the glimpses she gave. However, I did not anticipate Eddie being part of the drug deal in the alley! That threw me for a loop. My heart definitely broke for her at so many points, and her strength shines through with all that she’s dealt with
I enjoyed the timeline jumps, and thought it gave a good perspective on how long it actually took them to be able to be around each other. The accidental pregnancy trope can be a little overdone, but I thought it was done so well here (also done so well in Rally, so like Devney I see you and please keep this up 👀).
This isn’t just a 5 star book. This is an infinite-amount-of-stars book, just like Crossroads. This series deserves all the stars in the universe. I knew Haven Ranch would become one of my favorite series when I read Crossroads, and Sunlight has just confirmed it. I’m honestly not ready to say goodbye to the ranch and these characters.
There were so many emotions going through my heart as I read this book. This is much more than an accidental pregnancy and cowboy romance. This is a story about relationships, about owning your mistakes, about saying enough is enough, and most importantly about family - blood and found. Jax and Sasha’s story is raw and beautiful, just like West and Indya’s was. I felt everything with them. I was a mess when they were, I smiled when they did and I cried an ocean of happy tears at the end of the book.
Jax and Sasha are the main characters, but we also get glimpses at other characters and how their choices and actions affect everyone else in one way or another. I definitely had strong feelings towards Lily, Em and Eddie throughout the book and it was a rollercoaster of emotions until the end.
Thank you Devney and VRP for the ARC to give me the chance to give my honest opinion.
And thank you Devney again for writing these amazing characters that have found their way into my heart forever. I wish we had more time in Haven Ranch.
Sunlight by Devney Perry is book 2 of the Haven River Ranch series. This book is about Jax Haven, playboy cowboy, brother to West, and part owner of the Haven Ranch. Sasha is new to town and about to start work at the Haven Ranch as resort manager while Indya is out on maternity leave. Jax and Sasha have an instant connection but nothing can come of it seeing as he is her boss. After one night of fun, Sasha finds herself in a situation with Jax. They learn more about eachother and the chemistry is off the charts. I love this story and how sweet Jax is with Sasha. He is patient and calming. Everything she needs. Can I tell you a lie? I hate this book! Can I tell you a secret? This is the best book in the series so far and I can't wait for more!
Yet another stunning release from Devney Perry! Sunlight is a small town, reformed playboy, workplace, accidental pregnancy romance, and it lived up to my every expectation. With Crossroads being widely adored, I felt this was the perfect second installment of the Haven River Ranch Series.
Both Jax and Sasha were broken. Each of their pasts played a large role in how they operated in relationships and even their daily lives, and Devney did a fantastic job of building their stories both past and present. Sasha's past being hidden from both Jax and the reader left me on the edge of my seat wondering who, what, and why. This curiosity kept me so engaged in the story and I absolutely loved the reveal in the third act.
I felt I truly knew Jax and Sasha by the end of this book in a way I have not understood many characters recently. My best assumption as to why is that Devney goes deep instead of wide with her writing and storytelling. What I mean by that is she offers us fewer yet longer chapters and scenes with incredible depth as opposed to a larger amount of short and shallow chapters in her books. This writing style, though offering fewer scenes, provides so much depth and understanding for our characters.
This book checked all of the boxes for me. I truly loved every moment and am already excited to head back to Haven River Ranch. Congratulations to Devney on such a great release!

Note on Tropes: I don’t always list all tropes, if it feels like a spoiler. So you’ll notice a glaring missing trope for that reason.
I want to preface this review by noting that I absolutely loved Crossroads and Sunlight may have fallen victim of very high expectations.
The set up for Sunlight from Crossroads with the complicated dynamic between Lily and Jax was something I was really looking forward to. I was anticipating and hoping that Sunlight will destroy me in the best way and that I’ll be bawling.
In the end, there was a sad part where I thought maybe if I were in the right mood (or right time of month) I maybe could have shed a tear. But it was just a little too easy and wrapped up very neatly.
The hold up for me was that the fmc was very NOT likeable (perhaps done on purpose) and the reveal dragged a little too long to the point where it felt forced. Personally, I think revealing it earlier could have provided opportunities to explore more complex emotions and conversations between characters.
I can see and understand why it was done the way it was. And it was fine. What was meant to create tension just resulted in frustration for me. But it was a short read, and everything worked out in the end. I just personally wanted more angst, maybe something just a little more messy to address all the complicated family dynamics. Adored Jax tho!
"Tell me a secret", "Tell me a lie"
"My Josephine"
Devney Perry did it again! What a book! I loved Crossroads so I had to read Sunlight too. This story was filled with love and emotion. I loved the characters and their development. The romance in this book was sweet and intense. I normally don't read a lot of books with the accindental pregnancy trope in it, but this one was just perfectly written! I love Haven River Ranch and I can't wait to see what comes next for this series!
If you're looking for a book that touches your heart and stays with you long after the last page, this one is for you!

Let me just start off by saying, crossroads is one of my FAVORITE books of all time so I knew how much I would love sunlight… because hello??! JAX!!!! I ended up falling in love with Sasha first though. I feel like she’s one of the more complex characters that Devney Perry has written. She has this hard exterior but she just wants to be loved 🥹 She had to grow up way too fast and in result of that, was carrying around alot of guilt and trauma that she didn’t cope well with. She carried around so much sadness when she first got to Montana that weighed her down but I loved how Jax slowly broke her shell and made her come alive. I honestly love that Devney Perry made Sasha hate Montana at first but then by the end, Jax made her love it. The Haven brother’s are SUPERIOR. I wouldn’t be mad if Devney Perry brought in a third long lost brother to add to the story 🤣 And the storyline with Eddie was just gut wrenching. I would LOVE a book about him. Devney Perry added so many elements to this book that just made me absolutely love it. I LOVE this universe!!!!! And I need more more more.
“Tell me a lie.” “I hate Montana.” “Tell me a secret.” “I love you.” 🥹

Devney has done it again. crossroads was incredible, this was phenomenal. the accidental pregnancy trope is just… ✨, we love her.
I loooooved Jax + Sasha. I loved how patient & just so sweet Jax was to sasha. I could understand sasha being closed off due to her past but in the end it was worth it 💛
“Tell me a lie; tell me a secret” I didn’t cry & I am obsessed with this book 😭 BYE
3.75 stars.
After loving Crossroads I was so excited to return to Haven River Ranch for Jax’s book. While it didn’t hit quite the same for me, I enjoyed he and Sasha’s story as individuals and as a pair, with the added joy of spending more time in a setting that truly feels like a place you can go to find peace.
Haven River Ranch feels like exactly that. The people and the land it sits on give off such a vibe of tranquility and a space that allows anyone who comes there to feel like they can just breathe, especially if they’re facing a difficult time. It’s undoubtedly the kind of place I would want to visit in Montana.
I really enjoyed Jax in this book. Right away his caring heart was demonstrated and it was clear he was a good and decent man. He worked hard but didn’t take life too overly serious. He knew how to approach various scenarios with Sasha—when to push and when to back off. The way he handled the initial baby news felt genuine and the eventual conversation well done. I also liked that his story came around to find some of his own peace with his family.
Sasha was a challenge to get a read on, but there was never any doubt that she was a steadfast character. She had a one-track focus on doing her job and supporting Eddie—though who Eddie is wasn’t revealed until much later in the book. Without any other knowledge, it was clear he was someone she cared about and was willing to sacrifice her own comforts and needs to provide for him. I admired that about her. It made her own reaction to her pregnancy feel genuine.
I wish there had been more time spent with Sasha and Jax together early in the pregnancy. I felt like things progressed rather far without them interacting. It made it difficult to feel invested in them as a couple outside of the baby factor, even after they came around to each other. I didn’t feel as much development between them as I would have liked. I also felt like there was a lot of time jumping that happened and some key scenes I would have loved to see on page were only told about.
Overall this was a nice addition to the series and I hope there is more to come. I would very much like to spend more time in this Montana haven. Thank you to Valentine PR, Devney Perry, NetGalley and Montlake for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
