I received a free copy of, In the Winter, by Lauren Kukla, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is a cute story about winter. What happens in the winter? What do animals do? An enjoyable read.

Text is lovely. My download did not include illustrations which I’m sure would make this an awesome book for toddlers to learn about winter. Subsequent books about the other seasons would make a nice set.

The art in this book is truly lovely and I love how it looks layered to give extra depth. It was very eye catching!

One thing I did appreciate was that multiple holidays were represented in this book, unlike a lot of winter-themed books that focus only on Christmas.

Thank you to Netgalley and North Star Editions for providing me with an ARC of this childrens' book. All views and opinions are my own.

This is a cozy, warm, beautiful childrens' book celebrating the beauty of winter. The artwork is gorgeous watercolor. It's humble in an accessible way, but captures the imagination. I wonder if the author also does her own artwork; it's lovely.

From the northern lights to peacefully sleeping animals, this books reminds the reader of the beauty and splendor that can be found even in the darkest times of the year. Cute read! I would definitely recommend for a childrens' library.

I'd rate this book a G.
