Molly has been traveling the 50 states in her live-in van, Vaniel . Vaniel is in need of getting some work done after all of the traveling - which is how Molly ends up in Fork Lick . In exchange for the work being done on Vaniel, Molly is going to work at the local store where she meets the very grumpy dairy farmer who sells his products there .

Alex Budd is an extremely grumpy, but also an extremely successful, dairy farmer but that’s exactly how he likes it . And with his grandmother running the local store in town, he sells his products there and doesn’t have to deal with any unwelcome third parties .. that is until Molly gets a temporary job at the store and turns his life upside down .

Liz has done it again with this super sweet and fun loving story . Alex and Molly are what us insta lovers like - they were instantly drawn to each other even though he was pure grumpiness and she was truly sunshine . And all of that sunshine is what helped Alex to realize that he is a good enough man for Molly, he has just had a very tough family hounding him his whole life making him think he isn’t good enough . I’m excited to see what Liz has in store for us next with this fun series !

This is book two in the Farm 2 Forking series and it can be read as a complete standalone .

This book was given to me for honest review by the author + Netgalley .

This is the second book in the Farm to Forking series and focuses on Alex, a sad-sack dairy farmer who manages the Udderly Creamy dairy, and Molly, who is a #vanlifer visiting her way around all the US states.

This is a slow burn, slice-of-life, small-town, opposites attract romcom. Alex is low-key estranged from his family on Bedd Fellows Farm down the road (we met them in Since You've Bean Gone) although this is a standalone) and he's just trying to keep it all together. He knows he’s missing out on family stuff and opportunities but doesn't really having the ability to fix it. Molly on the other hand is more of a go-getter. She’s parked at Bedd Fellows and working on the both farms while she saves up to make some fixes on her van. Molly is always moving on and this slows them both down from exploring a mutual attraction. Will the cows get milked? Will the family face their issues? Will Alex get out of his own way for long enough to make a move on Molly? Is there a possibility of a longer term connection? So much fun!

It’s sleepy and so charming. Molly is a delight and the details around cows and goats and milking and the farm shop and really just getting ahead in a farming community are so nicely set out. There's a lil' bit of steam and shenanigans and lots of lovely characters in this universe. It's short, so there's nothing baggy and no complicated side plots. What a great series this is becoming!

Thank you NetGalley, Liz Alden and the publishers for the ARC. Opinions are my own.

Molly is travelling through the U.S. with her van and is spending two months on a farm in upstate N.Y. While she is working two jobs on neighbouring farms she falls for grumpy dairy-farmer Alex. But what will happen when it's time to move on?
This book is part of a series written by different authors but it can absolutely be read as a stand-alone. I enjoyed reading this book, it was a sweet story. I really liked the characters and the setting. I would have liked to read a bit more about how Molly and Alex fell in love because it sometimes feels like the attraction between them is a given from the start. All in all very entertaining and sweet.

I absolutely loved this book! I’m a sucker for a small town romance, especially a small town grumpy sunshine romance! The author beautifully wrote about the relationship between Alex and Molly but also Alex and his family. There were many times I was literally laughing out loud while reading!

Thank you NetGalley and Liz Alden for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Some books that you pick up and read are such a delight that you seem to get through them in record time, without really thinking about it. Butter you up is that kind of book. Somehow I managed to read it in just over a day, even though I had plenty of other stuff that I should be doing. It was far from wasted time though, as this was such an enjoyable read.
Alex and Molly are such a cute couple, I loved the way that they didn't mess each other around or play hard to get. Alex might be a grumpy character, who doesn't really say a lot, but he's the perfect match for bubbly Molly.
I loved reading Molly and Alex's story as they worked together and fell for one another. This is apparently the second in this series, but for me it worked fine as a standalone. I'd be interested to see what the other titles are like, as each one appears to be by a different author.
Overall, a fun read and one I'd really recommend.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and given voluntarily.

Molly is on a quest to visit every one of the contiguous 48 states, and her trip has brought her to Fork Lick, where she'll be spending the summer working on a set of farms, saving money to replace the battery in her van so she can finish out her trip. The farm where she's staying is produce-based, run by a very welcoming family. The farm whose shop she'll be running during the week is owned by Alex, a member of the family who is surly--and very hot.

I absolutely adored this book. It was fun, and sweet, and heartfelt, with some really incredible moments between the two MCs--both the emotions and the spice were great.

Butter You Up is a fun, quick read. I loved all of the characters--Molly and Alex, of course, but ALL of the side characters, as well. I'm excited to read more in the series--and to read some authors who are new to me. I love Liz Alden's works, and am excited to read some similar authors!

Butter You Up follows Alex and Molly. Molly is traveling across the country in her camper van stopping in a small town to get a job at a farm to pay for her van maintenance. Alex has a dairy farm, where he typically sells dairy products all day long but is hoping for a bigger role on his family’s farm, unfortunately, he doesn’t have the best relationship with his family. With Alex being Molly’s boss… Well you can guess how the story will unfold.

It was a cute story but for some reason I couldn’t fully connect with the characters. It was missing a wow factor for me. Molly was a ray of sunshine and Alex was a bit of a grump/loner outside of his friend Kit. When Alex and Molly finally did the deed, I thought some of their moments together were cute and sweet but I do wish there were MORE moments of them together. It’s weird because the book was set at a good pace, but them kissing and other stuff didn’t happen until after the 50% mark.

Thank you NetGalley and Liz Alden for providing me with this ARC for my honest review.

Butter You Up is a romance about Molly, a van lifer, who gets a job working a farm in a town she is passing through.

I really liked this story! I loved the Stardew Valley reference, as I too learned all I know about farming from that game. One thing I really appreciated was having Molly have eczema. The author definitely didn’t need to include that and it didn’t change the plot at all, but I thought it was just nice representation! It’s such a little thing that just made Molly seem more like a real person.

I did feel the end was a bit rushed, but that is not surprising given that this is a fairly short book. Overall it was a really fun, cute, quick read!

This felt perfectly into my current obsession with cowboy romance. I like that it had a few things that I haven’t seen as much through books. I like how he didn’t rush into romance, they built it off of it, and so it gave him more satisfying payoff. I relate to her worry about her father, as I am a military brat myself whose father has gone through some of those times. Overall, very fun read.

Tropes:
Small town
Gentle giant MMC
Sweet,friendly FMC
Boss×Employee
Lots of cute animals
Farmer×van lifer

Alex is a calm, introverted man who doesn't get very well with people not because of rudeness but he's a gentle giant😍

Molly is a charming, sunshiney van lifer who needs a temporary job in the small town of Fork Lick while passing through the state.
And when she gets a job on Alex's farm she turns his world around💕

There are lots of things I loved about this book. Starting from lovely characters, small town life, all the animals on the farm, the story is lite hearted and a lovely read.
And I loved Kit,hope we'll have his own book🤞🏻

This story was a hilarious and entertaining read. Between Molly, Alex and Vaniel, there were plenty of fun, sweet and heartwarming moments to go around. However, I would've enjoyed seeing more scenes that focused solely on Molly and/or Alex. There were a few moments here and there where the secondary characters stole the show.

Regardless, if you want a fun rom-com-esque story with that classic grumpy x sunshine trope, definitely pick this one up!

Liz Alden is definitely my go-to if I'm in the mood for romance. Her books are so entertaining, adventurous and fun with some spice and are usually around 200 pages so a perfect length for a summer read. Butter You Up fits perfectly with her array of stories. This was a fun short story with a grump/sunshine trope.

Molly is the sunshine, traveling across the United States in her van, when she stops in New York to work on a farm for a few so she can keep up her travels. When she gets to the farm, she ends up working for the grump Alex. I loved the banter in this story and how it wasn't an insta-love but it was shown that the two main characters were interested in each other early on. I loved the side characters too. The author always writes of exotic travels and while upstate New York isn't as exotic as some of her locations, I now want to go up there and work at a farm for a week or two, ha! I could see this being made into a Hallmark movie but I wouldn't want to get rid of the spice! This was a fun and entertaining read and the romance felt realistic and I enjoyed it! 4.5 rounded up.

Confession time: I'm a total pushover for a rom-com that's equal parts hilarious and heartwarming, especially when it features the grumpy/sunshine trope done right. This book had me laughing out loud from page one. Alex, is the resident grump, but beneath that prickly exterior lies a surprising charm and to make it even better his inner monologue is ridiculously funny and Molly, on the other hand, is a total ray of sunshine

This book completely stole my heart with just the right amount of romantic tension and with the usual Liz Alden steamy scenes that are perfectly spicy enough without going overboard.

thank you to NetGalley and Liz Alden for this arc

I absolutely adored this book! There were so many great things about it: punny names, a grumpy farmer who loves his dog, a sunshine van-lifer, a bromance stronger than steel, and a family business. This was the first book from the series I have read and the first by Liz Alden. I cannot wait to read more of Liz Alden's works. Her style keep me entertained, I was never lost, and all of the characters had very distinct personalities. I cannot recommend this book enough!!

It was my pleasure to read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a fun, entertaining story. Alex and Molly are interesting, complex, wounded, intriguing, relatable, entertaining characters. I enjoyed their romance and the path it took to get to their HEA. I loved the family aspect of the story and the role it played in each of the main characters’ lives. The secondary characters added to the fabric of the story and my enjoyment. This story has a little bit of everything – laughs, swoon worthy moments, and those where you just want to shake a character to make them see sense lol. The book is easy to read and get into.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

It's my second Liz Alden, and I must say I liked the other one better. Not sure where it's lacking though... Maybe we dont get enough time with only the 2 main characters? It's a cute story though, where we get a lot of time with his family.
This is dual POV, with chapters from Molly and Alex's point of vues. Kit the best friend of Alex is real good fun, and there are many cute animals.
I enjoyed it, but it wasn't WOW for me.

Cows are better than people – a fact I've sworn by until the irresistibly upbeat Molly comes barreling into my life, running my farm stand, and bringing the summer heat with her. She's also working for Fork Lick’s most debt-ridden business: my family's farm. I try to stay out of that manure pile. Except the crush I have on her makes me think about doing things like smiling all day and patching up my relationship with my brother. And then I learn she has a thing for me in flannel and we’re on fire between the sheets. Just when I think Molly might be having feelings for me too, old pain comes bleating back in.

This was an udder treat to read! I loved grumpy Alex from the very beginning, and Molly was a ray of sunshine. This book was hilarious. Great characters, loved the humor, the relationship, the cow manure jokes. It was great. Highly recommend! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Butter You Up is a cute (and a bit spicy) rom-com with a grumpy/sunshine theme. Liz Alden is a great writer and has a way with words. And while I have read other books by her, I don't know if this is my fave. However I am positive my friends will love it.

Thank you netgalley for an arc of Butter You Up by Liz Alden

I'm personally not a fan of #vanlife or #farmlife, but I was happy to enjoy them from the distance of the page, as clearly these two crazy kids are passionate about their life choices, but, oh boy, how will the farmer and the nomad make it work?

A sweet and fun story of love, family, doing what you love, homemade meals, and very cute baby farm animals.
