If "Pride and Perjudice" and "The Bridgertons" had a baby this book would be it.
The best thing about this book is that everyone seems to be very aware of the situation, and yet they all play dumb and let thing unfold. That being said, there's something very familiar and cozy about this books. There are scenes that just scream "late summer night for teenagers living in a small town", and as a former teenager that lives in a small town that makes me very happy. The book isn't about the grand parties, and luxury life in London, but about small balls, and garden outings hosted in countryside houses and that's just... Magnificent.
A great love story that bloosoms during the cool summer nigths of the English countryside.
-YA Regency Romance
-Enemies To Lovers
-Witty Banter
-Slow Burn
"Witty in Pink" was an entertaining read. The author did a great job crafting a storyline that was filled with angst, tension and plenty of witty banter!
I really enjoyed reading Briggs and Blythe's story, their journey from childhood enemies to adult "frenemies" was filled with tons of chemistry, tension and shenanigans. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and their's was done really well.
This was definitely what I would consider a slow burn romance and it stayed really true to what I would expect for a YA audience. Overall just really well written and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future!
Thank you Erica George, Net Galley and Entangled Publishing LLC for providing me with an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.
This was a really cute YA historical romance! I really enjoyed the side characters and their relationships, as well as the main relationship between Blythe and Briggs. I loved their enemies-to-lovers-ish dynamic, and I also really liked how everything wrapped up at the end of the book. I thought that Blythe was a really great main character, and I liked how stubborn she was. I also loved her and her bees! I overall thought this was a very fun, quick story. I'd definitely recommend this to people who enjoy YA romance!
Thank you entangled publishing and NetGalley. I got this book as an ARC and enjoyed it so much I couldn’t wait to get home to read it. It gives me Bridgerton/ pride snd prejudice vibes with the Era.
The main characters Blythe and Briggs enemies since they were children after a cruel prank, but now they’re both grown. They come up with a plan to help each other out with both needing money. Blythe wants to create a bee business and Briggs wants to marry a woman with fortune to save his home. Lots of twists, back stabbing and slow burn romance.
I'm new to reading Historical Romance, or just plain Romance in general without it involving fantasy, or being so dark the trigger warnings take two pages.. 😂
So, with that being said, this was really good! I was hesitant to request and read, but I figured why not give it a go since I like historical romance shows. It's funny, it's romancy, the plot and characters are great, and I have now added another genre to my never ending list of books to read. 🩷
Thank you to Entangled Teen for allowing me to arc read.
Just read this cover to cover! Was absolutely hooked from the first chapter and couldn’t put it down. It was like Bridgerton meets Little House on The Prairie in the best possible way. It was heart breaking, heart warming, frustrating (in a good way), with a HEA ending that melts your heart. Frienemies to enemies to lovers, forced proximity, miscommunication, secrets. Just all in all such a well written entertaining feel good read. 10/10 no notes!
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Before you read this book you should know that it is regency. The language this book uses gives off bridgerton vibes. If you are not expecting that then it will be a harder to get into.
I rated this book 3 stars because I wasn’t entirely into the regency language… However, the banter between Blythe and Briggs is wonderful. I would’ve loved to see their romantic relationship more. Throughout majority of the book we knew of their feelings towards each other, but they still didn’t get together until the very end.
I want to praise Erica George for writing this as a modern regency without the usage of cringy pop culture references/cultures. She wrote a relatable story without doing too much.
If you like regency and slow burns this book might be for you. This is also perfect for a teen reader. Especially if it is the beginning of their reading journey as this book was very easy to read.
It's been a while since I read a YA historical romance and this was well-written and very enjoyable. The banter, and frenemies vibes even though this was YA the main characters had lots of tension, chemistry, and angst. I liked the rom-com vibes along with the fmc being driven and not wanting to be subjected to her parents wanting her to be married. I enjoyed the character growth and the mmc learning about what love looks like despite the relationship his parents had. If you like regency romance, with chemistry, fun, enemies, and hijinks you should check this out. Thank you to Entangled Teen for this arc and for an honest review.
I'd like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this.
Witty in Pink is a book I'd certainly give teens (since it's written for teens) who want something regency but with a modern tone. Not to say Witty in Pink is a bad book (I gave it four stars), but it's a nice jumping board into historical romance.
Our female lead is career driven and is a nature enthusiast who loves bees and wants to open honey hives on all the estates through the country. She works with a neighbor whose brother is her nemesis. The male lead and her have been having issues with one another since they were kids. They constantly would battle one another in terms of pranks or tricks. One of which festers in the back of her mind and makes it clear that the male lead is someone she never wants to partner with on anything. She has no idea that he has been harboring new feelings and longs to apologize for the prank that she holds over him (didn't go the way she wanted).
Upon finding out her parents want to throw her into the way of marriage, and an older gentleman is after her hand, she asks for the male lead to kiss her. She forgets to tell him to kiss her hand and instead he kisses her lips. Stirs some feelings, but that's not the end of it. Letting her guard down for a moment, she finds out he is going to loose his estate due to his late fathers gambling issues, and he needs a wife and fast. He asks for her help, in return, he is to point her into the direction of wealthy estate owners who would be thrilled for her bees to be on their property. They both get what they want.
Feelings, betrayal, humor, it's all there and more. There is even a LGBTQ couple which end up being a part of the story. I was really surprised how much I enjoyed it and finished it rather quickly.
The only thing that I'd rate it down for is that the romantic moments between the leads are a little low, but it is still a romantic read and as I said, a good historical romance springboard.
Witty in Pink is a well written YA book that I would highly recommend to all those who love the Regency Period or need something after their Bridgerton Binge. It’s Dual POV and an enjoyable enemies to lovers story that is engaging from start to finish.
Blythe and Briggs relationship is exactly the type of connection that I live for in a romcom. From their very first encounter you can already feel the chemistry oozing from these two and lately with authors that has been hard to capture so two thumbs up to Erica George for doing it well. The banter in this book is *chefs kiss* sharp and funny. I liked that every character including the secondary characters had substance and vulnerabilities. I liked that Blythe was a strong FMC Independent, strong willed and witty (giving me the Lizzie Bennet vibes I needed) What more could you ask for? Briggs is a dashing MMC that cares about others feelings more than his own and I appreciated getting his POV to see what was going on in his head after certain situations.
This book is not spicy but the intimate scenes will still make you swoon. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Publisher for the opportunity to read the advanced copy of this book.
Witty In Pink is a witty, delightful love story that is perfect for fans of regency romance and the hate to love/enemies to lovers trope.
Briggs and Blythe have been at odds for most of their lives. They grew up near each other and spent a good portion of their childhood trying to outdo each other with pranks and cutting remarks. When Blythe was 14, Briggs played a trick on her that devastated and embarrassed her, and she's spent years harboring a grudge over it when he returns to her life.
Briggs needs money in order to maintain ownership of his family's estate, and Blythe needs Briggs's connections to get her apiary business off of the ground. They form something of a covert partnership to help each other meet their goals - Briggs by introducing Blythe to possible investors, and Blythe by helping Briggs woo a wealthy woman to be his bride. Little do they realize that the more time they spend with each other, the more they'll end up falling for each other.
This story is a classic historical romance storyline, but it's given new life with the tension, competition, and eventually camaraderie between Blythe and Briggs. Their banter is really well written, and the author does a great job of threading the story through with beautiful moments of vulnerability to balance the humor.
I love that the characters in this story are layered and faulted, but no one is painted singularly with the brush of "villain." Even the characters you dislike are nuanced, and I love the way Erica Geroge brings everything together in the end.
This book is perfect for fans of regency romance with no explicit content. It's mosy appropriate for an upper YA audience (as there are a few spicy without being explicit kissing scenes).
I loved this book, and I think you will, too. Thank you so much to Entangled Teen and NetGalley for providing a digital ARC copy for me to review.
I just got the opportunity to read this wonderful book. I got an ARC copy. It was good. I got it today. I sat down to read it and 5 hours later I am done. I couldn’t put it down. The characters are nicely written and it is very entertaining.
Blythe must work together with her nemesis Briggs to restore both of their family's wealth. She resents him bitterly for causing her embarrassment years ago at the ball.... but they fall for each other as they spend more time together....
Love blythe and Briggs together. Love the banter, the character discovery and the romance. Really enjoy this fun and romantic book.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

Blythe finds herself face to face with her archnemesis, Briggs Goswick, after years of avoiding him. Despite his attractive qualities and elite status, Briggs humiliated her in the past, making him her sworn enemy.
However, when they both face financial struggles, they find themselves trapped in a precarious situation where they must work together to save their families. With a plan to use Briggs' connections to secure investors for her business venture and help him pursue a wealthy heiress, Blythe must navigate a complicated relationship with the person she despises most.
"Witty in Pink" by Erica George delivers a delightful enemies-to-lovers tale that had me thoroughly entertained. Blythe and Briggs' dynamic kept me hooked from start to finish, and their banter had me giggling throughout.
The storyline was engaging, with just the right balance of romance and humor. Watching Blythe and Briggs navigate their complicated relationship while facing financial struggles added depth to the plot.
This was a fun and witty read that left me smiling.
