I was absolutely riveted by this story of a half human/half alien being accidentally sent back in time and tries to save the world from inevitable destruction in 40 years. An interesting twist on time travel, where the lead character will disappear and never exist if she succeeds on her mission. Really great lead characters and some terrific action sequences.
While I initially liked that the book was “fast paced” it become increasingly clear that it was too fast and things were being left out. The relationship between the two MCs seemed to be heading into romantic territory out of nowhere. We are told that they had communicated on the ship when she was initially rescued, but because none of those interactions are written the reader is left wondering what was said and how anything more than platonic is possible. We also hear CONSTANTLY that the FMC is alien. While at first I think it was okay. It became almost insulting to the reader. I ended up calling it quits at thirty percent. The narrator was great. Clear speech and easy to understand but the story was not my favorite. If you love Sci fi I don’t think you’d enjoy this and if you love romance I think it’s to instalove. It doesn’t fit. I wish the author well and wouldn’t be opposed to trying another book from them but this was a miss.
I liked this, it had Aurora Cycle (Jay Kristoff) vibes for the start but with older characters I could relate to more. This is saying a lot because I am obsessed with that series. I would have to hear/read the actual alien... the term used for female lead was a little cloying for me (trying to keep this spoiler-free) but I could see the idea behind it... it just felt a little too easy for me. There was loads of action and not too much "nerd speak" reading the whole outer space thing which was perfect, I prefer a character-driven story even in the Sci-Fi genre.
All in all, I loved this book one start was taken away as I felt like the ending was a little rushed, But I would definitely read this series and author again.

And if all goes well, they’ll make the necessary changes to save Earth and Selene would then cease to exist in the new timeline.
I really enjoyed this exciting space and time travel adventure. It’s the first in a series and and now I can’t wait for Book 2!
Andrea Emmet and Tim Bannon did a great job narrating the audiobook.
Thank you, @netgalley and @recordedbooks for my gifted copy of In Our Stars.
A time travel story with a bit of a twist.
I wish I could give half points because I would say that this was about a 3.5.
The story wasn’t lacking at all.
For me it was the amount of repetition. The way the FMC kept saying “I’m an alloy” got to be annoying. We understood after the first 5-8 times that she doesn’t understand how people can see her as anything else but this sentiment travels to the end of the book as well.
The people they come in contact with are very trusting. It’s an ideal society where we have bad people but the people that the main characters come in contact with are all good. There is ONE time where they encounter an adversary head one. Everything else is more like evasion.
Since this is a book 1, there isn’t much of a conclusion to the story but I am intrigued enough to pick up a book 2.
I did also enjoy the Auntie character a lot.
