When body is found on mistletoe tree farm, Holly and Evan find themselves busier than ever during the holiday season. Holly wants to protect an old family friend who is the prime suspect. But is she letting her feelings overtake her impartiality? And is Mrs. Claus really staying at the Inn? So many questions, so many clues, and only so much time until Christmas. Maybe Santa will deliver a killer before the holiday arrives.
I have been reading this series since it first came out. I absolutely adore it and was when there was a period that one for several years. I’m so glad that the publisher and the author brought the series back! this is required reading for me each and every holiday season. I adore the setting, the characters, and wish there is more than one entry per year. But I’ll take what I can get because I love it so much!
Thank you NetGalley for this arc!
This book gave me such a warm feeling, mystery and all. I read this in august, but it made me long for Christmas.
Absolutely thrilled to read the 5th installment in the Christmas Tree Farms cozy series, which is yet another top notch mystery. Very glad to see sleuth and innkeeper, Holly White, her husband the sheriff, and all of Holly's family and friends in Christmas town, Mistletoe, Maine, back in another fun installment.
As has been the pattern, every Christmas brings another murder in Mistletoe at the holidays, this time, with Mistletoe is celebrating its 150th anniversary and Holly's mother's is attempting to break a baking world's record.
As usual, the Reindeer Games are back as is all the fun of the Christmas season in this Christmas village. Always a pleasure to read these books, no matter the season.
This fun, entertaining mystery is highly recommended to cozy mystery fans!!
The small town of Mistletoe, Maine, is celebrating its 150th anniversary and there are plenty of celebrations to come over the festive period. One of the most exciting, for inn-keeper Holly White, husband and local sheriff Evan Gray, her friends and family, is her mom's plan to break a culinary world record. Everything is in place for the attempt with crowds from town ready and waiting. Unfortunately, someone has different plans for the day and when a body is found the event is cancelled.
Holly has to look closer at the clues, even though she was determined not to interfere, after one of her friends tops her husband's list of suspects. With her parents and Evan begging her to step back Holly finds herself in danger and wishing she'd listened! As Christmas Day and her first wedding anniversary move ever closer she begins to doubt she'll be around to celebrate either big day!
Book five in this wonderful festive series doesn't disappoint in any way. Evan and Holly have spent the first year of their married life blissfully happy but, as seems to be the norm in Mistletoe, everything gets very fraught after Thanksgiving! All the main protagonists are here once again and the Reindeer Games Christmas Tree Farm is once again the centre of all things festive, even after the body is discovered!
I was able to read an advanced copy of this thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, Crooked Lane Books, but the opinions expressed are my own. This is a brilliant addition to an already much loved series which I happily recommend.
The Christmassy cover of this Cozy Mystery made me want to read this book. It’s the first time for me to read one of Jacqueline Frost’s mysteries. Why did I wait so long? I was very impressed with her writing style and the easy flow of the story. I’m going to treat myself by reading the other books in this series for my holiday reads. I loved her humor and ability to keep me guessing till the mystery was solved. I admit I didn’t have a clue whodunnit . This Cozy had everything that makes a cozy a five star read. Captured my attention and kept me turning pages . Unpredictable and had me on the edge of my seat before the book ended.
This book came highly recommended to me by one of my reading friends. It certainly didn’t disappoint me so I also recommend it to all my reading friends. I loved the characters and the town of Mistletoe Maine. Readers who enjoy Cozy mystery will love this Christmas Cozy. Though there are other books to the series I read this as a standalone. This book is scheduled for release on 11/12/24.
I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of I’ll Be Home for Mischief. All thoughts and opinions expressed here in this review are solely my own.

I love, love, love Jacqueline Frost (Julie Anne Lindsey), and this book did not disappoint! I loved being back with Holly in Mistletoe. The murder was a fun mystery, and I love the characters and the setting.
Its Christmastime Mistletoe, Maine and the Reindeer games are in full swing. The Snow's along with a slew of others are visiting. Hollys mother attempts to break the world record for baking the largest gingerbread man but her plans a whisked away when an inn guest, Mr. Snow, ends up in the batter. Holly is officially "not" on the case but she cant help herself. Like every year she finds herself thrust into the murder mayhem.
Let me start by saying I love this series! It is so heart warming and makes you want to move to Main tomorrow. Each book gets better and better in the series. I loved this book so so much and even teared up at the end.
It is like a warm hug returning to Mistletoe and interacting with all of these characters. Evan is ever present with his calm demeanor and he keeps Holly grounded. Carol and Bud are the parents you have always hoped for. Cookie is a hoot! Caroline, Libby and Ray are the best friends you didn't know you needed.
I wish Mistletoe, Main was a real place and everyone could go and experience what towns people and the tourist experience every Christmas. It is pure magic!
I love this cozy mystery series about a Christmas tree farm. It was wonderful to revisit this town and characters.
*I'll Be Home for Mischief* by Jacqueline Frost is a delightful addition to the Christmas Tree Farm Mystery series. Set in the charming town of Mistletoe, Maine, the story follows Holly White as she prepares for the holiday season while juggling her duties at her family's Christmas tree farm. But when a mysterious death occurs, Holly finds herself in the middle of another intriguing murder investigation.
Frost masterfully combines the coziness of a small-town holiday setting with the suspense of a well-crafted mystery. The book is filled with quirky characters, festive cheer, and a touch of romance, all adding to its charm. Holly is a relatable and likable protagonist, and her determination to solve the crime makes for an engaging read.
The plot is well-paced, with plenty of twists and turns to keep readers guessing until the end. The holiday atmosphere is wonderfully depicted, making it an ideal read for the winter season. *I'll Be Home for Mischief* is a perfect blend of mystery and holiday warmth, making it a must-read for fans of cozy mysteries.
Thank you to Jacqueline Frost, Netgalley, and Crooked Lane Books for the arc of this book

Read if you like:
🎄 Christmas scenery ❤️❤️❤️
🎄 small town mystery
🎄 quirky characters
🎄 short chapters
It is just a liiiiiiiittle bit early, but I was honestly craving a Christmas read 🤣 I have read a few others in the Christmas Tree Farm Mystery series, so there is no surprise that I loved this one as well.
One thing I really like about this is the relationships between the family and the friends. The family all works on the farm together, the friends all come together when each other is in need… if only the real world was like this 🤪
This one was a little different than usual cozy mysteries where the murder takes place immediately when the book starts (which I do like) but this one was kind of nice that it built the story and characters up a little bit before the crime happens.
There was SO MUCH Christmas scenery throughout this whole book; it is the absolute perfect read if you are in need of a beautiful Christmasy murder 🤪 All of the names were Christmas names, the towns were Christmasy and of course the beautiful descriptions of the town completely covered in Christmas and snow and mistletoe. And we can’t forget all the delicious Christmasy treats!! Mmmmm it makes me can’t wait for the Christmas season! Some Christmas books just mention that it’s Christmastime once or twice and that’s it… but this one did such a good job with setting the scene in every single page 🩷 I literally felt like I was in a little Christmasy winter wonderland village.
As serious as murder is, I love cozy mysteries so much because they’re a little bit silly and almost humorous even though obviously, someone in this perfect, quaint town has killed someone else. The body found coated in cookie dough batter actually made me laugh-out-loud 🤣
I love that the (nosy, amateur detective) female main character is married to the sheriff 🤣🤣 That is so cozy mystery 🤪
Another very enjoyable mystery read from Jacqueline Frost! I love that this series is so specific (Christmas tree farm mystery) but as I just demonstrated, they are not just for Christmastime; they can be read year round for anyone looking for a little palette cleanser between heavier reads. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series!
In this cosy mystery series, this new installment offers the lovely Christmas ambiance, but the plot was not as strong as the previous books. I'll still read the next books though.
Another solid installation of the Christmas tree farm series! The death in this one is so absolutely wild I couldn’t believe it! I don’t want to take away from it but I will say a world record attempt is made. So many wacky ans wild things happen in this book, it’s really found its stride as a series.
I always enjoy my yearly visit to the Christmas tree farm. We are back in Mistletoe, Maine and Holly White is right in the middle of another murder. This was a great mixture of Christmas magic with beloved family and friends and a mystery of a murdered, not so well liked man. A few plot points were fairly obvious early on but the developments kept me guessing who our culprit was until the end. This is a great book to add to your holiday reads list.
Thank you to the publisher for the free copy in exchange for my honest review.
My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher, for letting me read and review an advanced copy of this book, ‘I’ll Be Home For Mischief’, by Jacqueline Frost.
Holly and her parents are celebrating another Christmas in Mistletoe, Maine at their Christmas Tree farm, Reindeer Games. Holly, and her sheriff husband, Evan, are hoping that it will be a quiet season without the yearly murder, but that hope is dashed when Holly’s mother tries to bake the world’s largest gingerbread man and a dead body is found in the batter. Evan already knows that Holly can’t keep her nose out of the investigation and always puts herself in danger.
This was another fun Christmas themed mystery in a ‘Hallmark’ setting.
I really enjoy this series. It is very well written and is so full of Christmas cheer and joy. The MC is likable and her family is incredible. The community is both adorable and welcoming. This book makes you want to visit Mistletoe, Maine, and stay on the Christmas Tree Farm. The murder and plot are both interesting and immediately draws you in. Thank you so much Net Galley for the ARC. I really enjoyed this book and think others will too, especially around the holiday season.
My Christmas in July (continuing into August because it’s the first and ONLY Christmas book I’ve completed in July) started off strong with one of my favorite cozy series of all time! Evan and Holly are adorable and couple goals and I just love every character and this whole town! I would LOVE to spend Christmas in Mistletoe! Even though I guessed the who dunnit, still a really solid mystery
It is another Christmas in the town of Mistletoe, Maine where they are celebrating 150 years. It should be an epic Christmas for all. Holly's mom is working to break a world record, a founding family is visiting, and popular podcasters are in town. Everyone is hoping to move forward with festivities by putting the last few years of Christmas murders in the past. However, the fun is ruined when someone is murdered (was it murder?) with all in attendance. In true Mistletoe fashion, Holly has yet another Christmas mystery to solve and everyone is a suspect. She gets to work unraveling how the guest at Christmas Tree Farm met an untimely end. Holly gets a little too close and puts herself in danger. Jacqueline Frost keeps the readers engaged and wanting more. Another hit with this cozy mystery series. Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the ARC.
This series is a Christmas treat. And like a good Christmas cookie, it's colorful, light, and gone before you know it. A quick, easy read.
Review copy provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
A great addition to an incredible series! Wonderful characters in an incredible setting. This book will keep you guessing until the end.
Fun read for Christmas. The characters were likeable and I especially enjoyed the conversations with the Podcasters and Holly. This book made me want to eat gingerbread and drink hot cocoa in July! I recommend this book for cozy Christmas evenings.
