This is another history book that is well worth your time to buy and read. Before I read "The Intellectual and Diplomatic Discourse of American Progressives and the Late Ottomans, 1830-1930" I knew little of nothing about an empire which in the end was known as the "Dead Man of Europe." Buy this book, read it and fill in a big hole in many peoples' history of the world.

The Intellectual and Diplomatic Discourse of the American Progressives and the Late Ottomans 1830-1930 is a fascinating exploration into the historical relationship between the United States and the Ottoman Empire. Powell's meticulous research and insightful analysis shed light on how American progressive thought was shaped by interactions with the Ottomans, influencing U.S. foreign policy in the Near East. I found myself engrossed in the narrative, gaining a deeper understanding of the complexities of diplomatic discourse during this period.
