What a delightful read!! As an adult who loves children's books, I was delighted by how charming and enjoyable this book was. The story was a delightful take on the classic "Twelve Days" theme, reimagined for the summer season. The illustrations are truly beautiful and it's a perfect book for children to read, helping them learn the Twelve Days Of Summer in a fun and engaging way.

I highly recommend this book to parents searching for an addition to their child's library. And for fellow adults who enjoy children's literature, this book is sure to bring a smile to your face as well.

Twelve Days of Summer
Sherri Maret
Twelve Days of Summer is a companion book to Twelve Days of Winter. This book revisits The Twelve Days of Christmas. Read or sing this book with your children. This book is educational; it teaches a young child how to count.
“On the first day of summer we looked around to see a black bear in an oak tree.”
I would recommend reading this book over singing it. Some of the syllables are off.
This tale highlights different animals we see in the summer months as they go about their daily routine.
The illustrations in this book are bright, cute and sure to catch the eye of small children. They complement the text.

Thank you Net Galley for providing a copy of this book for review;

Twelve Days of Summer is a children’s book set to the tune of Twelve Days of Christmas. In Sherri Maret’s rendition, we see summer animals going about their day instead of the Christmas staples we already know. I immensely enjoyed the book and highly recommend it for young children and parents who are excited to sing the song out loud for their kids—and maybe get the tune stuck in their head for the rest of the day! I know I did. The artwork is fun, and the font choice is perfect, bold, and easy to read/see for young children.

Thank you NetGalley, Sherri Maret, and Globe Pequot for the ARC in exchange for a voluntary review!

I loved this book. The illustrations are incredible, and the use of color really takes it step above. This is a precious book of the discovery of wildlife animals in their natural habitat. It is a sing-a-long, read-a-long book to the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas". I loved all the animals used, esp the one for the 12th day.....
A Must have. So well done.
Thanks Net Galley for sending this e-book ARC for review.

The illustrations in this book are cute and that is important for a children’s book. Any book about animals is a good thing.

While young children may not necessarily know the traditional 12 Days of Christmas song, several lines don’t have the correct syllables to make it work quite like the song. Personally, that would bother me. I would like it more if it was seamless to convert to the song. Therefore I feel this book is far more suited for reading without singing it to that tune. I give it 4 stars with that caveat. It’s a cute read with lovely artwork.

Very cute child’s book. A little play on 12 days of Christmas , but instead with animals. My nephew and little cousin liked it . It was hard for them to considerate as it was a little long but the pictures helped and it taught them some new animals they didn’t know. Overall a great child’s book , once done publishing and editing I can’t wait to buy a physical copy for my little family members .
Thanks net galley and Thomas Hilley for an opportunity to read this arc to my family ❤️

This book is written to the tune of the Twelve Days of Christmas. It shares different animals you might see on the 12 days of summer starting with a black bear. We see herons, moose, bobcats, possums and more. The pictures are cute drawings showing the animals in their habitat. A very cute book for little kids.

When you read this book, how could you not sing and enjoy yourself? We loved that we saw some of our favorite (and less popular animals) included. The illustrations, which matched the story perfectly, were beautiful and very natural in appearance.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC!

In this adorable counting book set in the summer forest, Sherri Maret reimagines the classic “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” Instead of gifts, we observe wildlife during the warm season. The animals enjoy blooming flowers, sunny days, and the company of their little ones. The counting familiar song is great for young readers. The creative illustrations capture the essence of summer, making you want to step outside and embark on your own animal adventure. Whether you’re singing along or simply enjoying the nature setting, this book is a delightful addition to any child’s library.

The Puzzle Piece by Andrea Mendoza (May 13) The most beautiful story in how to help children love themselves and be their most authentic self. I’m excited to read more of her books. Wonderful conversations to follow this with my kids!

Gathered at the Table by Glenn’s Nellist (Sept. 9) Using poems, it explains Jesus last supper and his time at the table. Such a profound, kid appropriate explanation of the communion.

Rosie’s Wild Ride by Paige Murray (Oct 7) Her completion doesn’t go quite as planned, but what if we keep going and ask “What if I can?” as we follow big dreams! I can’t wait to get this for my daughter. Loved the illustrations.

Night Magic by Leigh Ann Henson (Sept 23) This was SUCH a fun book of information. Why does it take so long for the eye to adjust to night? Lots of great information with this book and at a child’s level.

The Mountain and the Goat by Slamk Taghaddas (Sept 23) I loved the concept of teaching resourcefulness in this one. Loved the storyline.

Sea Dog Boats by Astrid Sheckels (Jan 14) To learn all about boats, let the dogs lead the way. All about the ABCs and nautical adventures this is a really cute story!

Twelve Days of Summer by Sherri Meret (July 1) “On the first day of summer…” The animals take you on a summer adventure as you sing along! My kids LOVED this adorable book.

Franklin’s Trees by AJ Skenkman (July 1) A story about young President Franklin. A history major myself, this was a really cute informative book.

Outdoor Skills for Kids by Buck Tilton (June 3) My son thought this book was the bees knees. He learned so much from it and kept talking about “when you approach an animal this is what to do..” He was so excited to share all he learned.

A Very Dinosaur Christmas by Adam Wallace (Sept 2) The giggles with this one! Dinosaurs at Christmas is silly.

Spooky Poems Aloud by Joseph Coelho

The Story of Dinosaurs by Catherine Barr

Twelve Days of Summer is a cute story based on Twelve Days of Christmas and follows different animals found during the summer. The illustrations are bright and fit the story, and I love that the story can be read or sung. It is a fun book for kids!

I have a copy of The Twelve Days of Winter in my library and was excited to read this one as I was considering adding it. While it is beautifully illustrated, it is too similar to the other one to justify the expense, especially as my library budget is non-existent.

Cute book that might be worth purchasing if you don't already have the other one.

Thank you to Net Galley and Globe Pequot for the eARC.

3.5 stars

The concept is cute and interesting with its representation of lesser known and seen animals in board and picture books.

The scenes are lovely and the gradual increase of the rhythm is great for babies and younger kids.

Just out of personal taste, the art did not appeal to me and my child as much as we liked, but we still liked and appreciated it.
