Thank you to Netgalley and the Publishing Company for this Advanced Readers Copy of Believe by Jeremy Enger!

Not enough time has passed between the show ending and this book coming out, which is probably why this book does not examine the show with a critical eye at all. In ten years I want everyone involved to come back and tell me what they really were thinking during the making of season 3 and how they honestly think it played out on screen.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for granting me an e-arc!
THIS IS A MUST READ FOR ALL TED LASSO FANS!!! Ted Lasso is my favorite show, so just like the rest of the world, I will scoop up any morsel of new Ted Lasso- especially behind the scenes info, which this book definitely delivers on.
Have you ever wondered if your favorite character was nearly cast differently? Want to know which actors originally auditioned for different parts? Wondering about the influence behind each character? This book has you covered!
Believe breaks down the Ted Lasso series from beginning to end, starting with its creation as a sports ad and finishing with the pondering of the cast on whether we will get more of the show someday or not. On top of learning about its beginnings, casting decisions, music choices, and more, we get insight on multiple major episodes.
I had such a good time reading this and loved learning more about my favorite characters and my favorite show of all time. I highly recommend this book to all fans of the show!!

A great read for any Ted Lasso fan! I love a good oral history and this one was well organized, charming, and funny, not unlike the show itself.

This is the perfect book for Ted Lasso fans. It digs into the origins of the character and then into the episodes themselves.

~~~Heaven knows I tried.~~~
Despite being an avid Ted Lasso fan now, I didn't understand the hype when it first premiered in 2020. I sat down in 2023, around the time of the third season premiere, and likely the show's final season. Finally, after hearing many good things about the show, I became a viewer myself. And it was wonderful!
This is all too say that Egner's book embodies the feeling of a Ted Lasso rewatch. The interview selections combined with narrative tells an immersive story of how the show came to be and how the creation of specific scenes originated in real time. As I read further, it felt like I was reading in the format of Trent Crimm, the reporter-cum-friend of the team who fictionally publishes a book about their growth. This book feels like a fan wrote it, with plenty of notes, sources, and connections to fill the pages.
I loved the show Ted Lasso, but this is more than Iever needed to know. This is a DNF for me. There's too much repetitive fawning over the actors to get past.
This is the perfect companion piece to one of the greatest modern television shows. A wonderful gift for any fans of Ted Lasso, and who can say they have watched the show and isn't a fan?!
The book is a great behind the scenes snapshot into how Ted Lasso came to be (I had no idea it was originally a commercial!) and the building of the characters and actors into the show that we all have come to love.
Highly recommend for fans and those who haven't yet seen the show to be introduced to Ted Lasso.
Thank you Net Galley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a book for the Ted Lasso super fan. I loved the show Ted Lasso, so I thought this might be a fun read, and it really was. Egner goes into a lot of detail on the making of the show and decisions that were made along the way, whether it be related to characters, plot points, or what overall themes they were trying to convey throughout the life of the show. I enjoyed this a lot, and it would be a great gift for the Ted Lasso fan in your life.
If you are a Ted Lasso fan you NEED to read this book. Fun go-along with the show. It gives another look into the show. definitely will recommend this to patron.
As a massive fan of Ted Lasso, Believe was a beautifully put together book cataloging the making, rise, and end of one of the world's favorite shows. While I didn't watch Ted Lasso while it was airing originally, I fell in love with it right after season 3 had finished and have been missing it ever since. Jeremy Egner did a wonderful job putting together behind-the-scenes info, interviews, and episode breakdowns all wrapped up in one easy read. Every chapter made me excited to re-watch the show just so I can notice all of the little details I missed the first time around!
If you've already watched and loved Ted Lasso, this book is going to be a treat for you as a fan. If you haven't read it yet, you'll still enjoy it but you'll have some spoilers on the way. But that's true of any book or article dedicated to a movie/book/show/podcast.
Jeremy Egner has categorized his information and fan following over Ted Lasso beautifully, and has put his heart and soul into the book, and it definitely shows. From the birth of Ted Lasso till its rising popularity in an unfortunate time - since it aired during the pandemic- everything has been subtly detailed and presented.
There are interviews and raw emotion associated with the book - and they are author's strong points too. I really liked that the narrative of the book follows the chronology of the show, which makes it easy to grab on to, and even better if you want to watch/ re-watch the show along with your reading of the book. Interesting, right? The quotations, chapter wise bibliography, and the Introduction to what led the author to start the book, are all plus points to the content of the book.
How did they cast all these great actors for Ted Lasso? How did they shoot all these really great games with stadiums full of fans? Want to hear quotes from pretty much everyone involved in the show? This is the book for you. As a huge fan of Ted Lasso, I was really excited for this book. This book really compliments the show and gave me some really interesting insight into a much beloved show. I really enjoyed hearing how the casting of characters led to the changes we saw in the show. I also really liked all of the references to various podcasts that I can check out. As a book lover more than a TV fan, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Ted Lasso. This book is a behind-the-scenes look at the hit show is both captivating and insightful, especially for a show that celebrates "the importance of kindness and decency" and how these qualities can help people thrive.
The book discusses the show's origins, casting and actors, influences, messages, and reception among the public. Some of the book is organized by episodes, making it easy to rewatch my favorite scenes as I read, which enriched the experience. It ended up taking me twice as long to finish because I kept going back to watch parts as I read about them! Egner dives deep into why certain creative choices were made, and it was fascinating to see how intentional every storyline and character trait was in bringing out the show's heartfelt messages.
