Faelorehn is the story of Meghan who has always been different from others, especially as she was discovered as a young child wandering the streets of Los Angeles abandoned. Now adopted, she tries to act as normal as possible, even though she sometimes sees strange things and hears trees talking to her. But the strange incidences continue and when she meets the mysterious Cade he might have some answers for her.
I was very torn about this book. There are some good moments, such as when Meghan is sleepwalking and ends up in the middle of the swamp, and I really feel like my fourteen-year-old self would have loved the Irish mythology and fantasy elements of it. However, my overall impression is of a book that is very disjointed. There's an awful lots of signposting and the actual plot doesn't really kick in until a quarter of a way through the book. Things that should be explained never really are and you can tell that this first part of the Otherworld series was written to be part of a series rather than an introduction to the series, but nothing about it seems complete. None of it is helped by the character of Cade who crops up every now and then and tells Meghan that he will answer her questions, but then says he can't say anything to her. It leaves the whole thing feeling incredibly incomplete which isn't very satisfying as a reader.
I also found the relationship, or lack of, deeply annoying. Cade rocks up to be mysterious and fight off some monsters every now and then, but then disappears again. He appears maybe 4 or 5 times in the whole book, never shares anything personal, treats Meghan like she's part of his mission, and yet by encounter number 4, Meghan is declaring that she's completely in love with him. Despite him never showing her any degree of affection, or them ever having any kind of personal conversation. I'm sure younger me would have found this all incredibly romantic. As a reader now, I spent a lot of time rolling my eyes.
Some nice mythological elements, but an inconsistent plot and a forced romance. 2 stars.

Great series, with a great story! I loved this beginning book so much I sought out the others. Highly recommend this Fae/Fairy fantasy title!

Gnome and goblins are stories that I haven't come across often. A strange girl who always was perceived as weird, finds out that the world isn't what she thought.

I liked the idea and even the story... The main character, however, was very one-dimensional and only thought about Cade and her wanting to be with him

I am really sorry, but at the time I wasn't able to download the title before it was archived, so I cannot write a proper review for it. I am really sorry about this.

I did not understand how to use Netgalley when I requested this book years ago. I have not read this book and therefore cannot provide adequate feedback.

I honestly thought several times to DNF this one, I actually put it down several times to read something else. For some reason, this one just didn't work. I'm pretty sure it was the writing style for me it just was off.

I couldn't get into this one...not sure why, but it just didn't connect with me.
