Thanks to Netgalley and Kodansha for providing this eARC in exchange for an honest review!
This was such a wonderful first volume!! I absolutely adored the art style, and the plot and character work was great!
I highly recommend checking this out when it is released!!
a delightful paranormal that's a slow burn BL. I feel like volume one set up the world and a dash of building romantic tension. Wish it gave me a bit more before they ended but that's just personal preference. loved the characters and the way the artist drew the fashion throughout the book.
This is an extremely enjoyable first book of a series. I want to continue with the next one. First of all, the art in this is be! Well-detailed, beautiful men and an actual detailed environment. I also loved aspects of the story like how nicely the main characters treated the supernatural beings. It reminded me of a childhood favorite book called Dial-a-Ghost. I would love to see some of the beings they relocated and how they are navigating their new homes. I would also love to see more of the romance they are setting up. I see such potential in their relationship with their different personalities. I look forward to seeing the love interest's past come to light. This first volume is a great start!
I was immediately captivated by this book due to its striking cover and the promise of a "Ghostbusters" meets BL storyline. While the potential for a BL romance in future volumes is evident, the first book falls slightly short in this aspect. Although there are elements of pining and hand-holding, they seem more connected to the plot rather than the romantic narrative.
The characters, particularly Osuke and Nijio, are a highlight. Osuke's earnestness and Nijio's hidden warmth make for compelling reading. The story kicks off with Osuke forced to vacate his flooded apartment, leaving him in a state of uncertainty. Enter a mysterious man who offers him shelter under one condition, which Osuke hesitantly accepts. This leads to his meeting with Nijio, his new intimidating blond roommate with tattoos and piercings, whom he initially mistakes for the janitor LOL, Nijio is the condition, while Osuke finds him imitating as the start they slowly grow closer as the narrative progresses. Osuke soon realises there is more to this new apartment than meets the eye. and soon discovers it's haunted by a Yōkai, and the two of them have to work together throughout the book to help this Yōkai and others find new places to stay.
This book was captivating, and I’m giving it 80/100 and I’m eagerly awaiting the next instalment.
This book was given to me by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I really like the art in this manga. I'm not sure why but BL manga always has the most beautiful art. The story was cute, but a little hard to follow at times. But to be honest, I'd probably continue reading despite that because the art is so pretty.
I mean… who doesn’t love ghosts and boy love? I thought this was a great start and super enjoyed the art/the storytelling style. I can’t wait to continue to see what goes on for these two! You’ll love this if you’re interested in paranormal/romance.
Osuke is having no luck navigating the trials of adulthood. He has just recently moved out on his own and the day he moves into his first apartment is the day he has to move out. Bad pipes and all. Now homeless, he meets a real estate agent that offers him a place to live for a low price. The digs are super nice but there's a catch. He has a roommate. And.....there's a catch to the catch. The place is haunted. His new roommate, Nijio, is a spirit negotiator/eviction specialist and needs Osuke's help to perform his tasks. A new friendship or scary beyond all imagination?
This is so much fun! I enjoyed this first volume. The characters are fun and interesting. The art is great. There is humor. It just doesn't take itself too seriously and I love it.
I really enjoyed this manga - the art was nice, the yokai were a nice mix of creepy and cute, and I'm enjoying the plot so far! I'm enjoying the dynamic between the two main characters - one seems a bit sheltered but wanting to mature, while the other is a bit closed off, but showing signs of wanting to open up. Very interested to see how the story develops!
The first thing that I noticed in this manga is the beautiful art style. I've been distracted many times with Nijo's handsomeness 🙈
Anyway, the story is pretty good. I did enjoy the whole paranormal plot, it was interesting, and i would say I'm eager to continue this.
The pacing is also good, I'm glad that it's not something that's rushed, and it took its time to develop the characters and the plot.
Overall, I really did enjoy this 🩷
what a cute, fun manga! i loved the forced proximity and the art style. i wish there was more development with the characters though.
Great read! I loved the interaction between the characters, the artstyle and the pacing of the story. Intriguing plot - can't wait to read more!
I’m excited to see where this goes! I really enjoyed the plot and close proximity. I foresee some character development too. A BL ghost chasing duo is a fresh take on this genre.
Okay, I was not expecting this story to take this route but I like! I like how we quickly jumped into the crux of the story and got to see a few cases play out. I like the banter between all the characters and can't wait to get to know them more and explore spookier cases. I can't wait for volume 2! I can't wait to explore the spirits more and see the extent of the MC's powers.
Thanks NetGalley and Kodansha for the DRC! I feel spoiled, too many new series are coming out.
This is the first thing I have read by this mangaka and I really enjoyed it. The art was really well done and I liked the character design. The highlight for me was seeing the different yokai, especially the adorable Zashiki-Warashi.
I’m looking forward to the next volume and finding out more about the main characters, plus meeting the new ones.
The elements of magic, ghost and fantasy was amazingly blended in together in this manga. I love how the writer has penned down the characters and their meetings were quite interesting and the incidents were keeping me on toe excited to know what's going to happen next in the plot.
My Noisy Roommate: The Roof Over My Head Comes with Monsters and a Hottie Vol. 1 was a great start to a series! The characters are drawn beautifully, you have an aloof potential love interest and the ghosts are ghoulish or cute depending on the chapter which helps keep it interesting.
It was cute, funny and a tad bit scary. Can't wait to see where the series goes as it continues!
I would definitely recommend this to others, especially those looking for a bit of spook in their slow-burn romances.
I did receive a copy of this from Netgalley in return for an honest review.
This manga wasn't what I expected at first, but the balance between paranormal and BL is executed exquisitely. The characters are believable and fleshed out, and their dynamic is natural.
I'm typically not a fan of horror, but I enjoyed learning about Japanese folklore through the story. I am looking forward to volume 2!
Look, it feels really weird to be saying that, especially as I am a card-carrying fan of supernatural slice-of-life and of all things queer, and My Noisy Roommate is definitely both of these things, but I found this so boring. Genuinely, there are events on the page and they develop at pace, and the art is very slick and glamorous, but there is just the core, the heart of the story that's missing. The humor, which usually does wonders to bring the readership closer to the world where the leads can interact with supernatural, seemed very sitcom-like here and if anything makes me care even less. Mystery, but here you have it.
YAOI manga, with lots of ghosts and spirits, most of which are based on Japanese folklore, and lots of irony. The two main characters are the usual "handsome and damned" and "nice bungler" who combine their powers and manage to free haunted houses. Looks good, but this is only the first issue.
I received from the Publisher a complimentary digital advanced review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.
This was in fact an experiences. Not completely positive and not completely negative. It was funny, and I liked how this story played out. The arc and the story was good. I might read the next one.
I got an e-arc of this book on NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
