I listened to these with my 8 y/o daughter, and she absolutely loved them! From what I know about these, they are published in graphic novel format.
On audio, these were still enjoyable with multiple funny moments and plenty of acton to keep a young reader interested.
Our entire household are HUGE InvestiGators fans so we were thrilled to have the opportunity to listen to the audiobooks 1&2!
Wow, wow, WOW! A full cast makes this listen incredibly fun and engaging. Both parents and the 5 and 9 year old thoroughly enjoyed the books brought to life. The performance from the narrators was phenomenal and we all highly recommend! Can't wait to listen to the rest of the series!
Thank you to Macmillan Audio | Macmillan Young Listeners and Netgalley for this incredible ALC!
I am already a fan of John Patrick Green. My students have thoroughly enjoyed the InvestiGators series and I know they are going to love the audio version.
I received this book for free form netgalley for an honest review thank you for the opportunity
My son's and I read this together and we absolutely loved it it had great character and great narration.
Thank you to NetGalley for the chance to listen to this upcoming audiobook! This was everything you could hope for in an audiobook adaptation of a graphic novel! The voice of Brash is EXACTLY how I pictured him sounding. The stories are very well-executed and the jokes just keep on coming. We listened to this on a road trip and my boys (who have both read the books) were engaged and giggling the entire time. We are looking very forward to future installments of this series!! It's one of our favorites.
My 7 and 9 year old boys love The InvestiGators series. We have the books and they read them over and over again. So I jumped at the chance for them to listen to the audiobook version of Books 1 and 2 (Thank you Netgalley!)
They loved it!
The investigators is a Middle Grade comic/graphic novel and my kids are not necessarily middle grade. A lot of the puns and jokes in the book are over their heads, but they love these books anyway. They've been reading them for about a year now and they still seem to like them. I didn't notice anything inappropriate for their age nor any "bad" words or name-calling in these books.
The performances on the audiobooks were phenomenal. The voices matched what you would think the characters would sound like if you read the books first. The sound effects make the story that much better and more engaging for young readers.
My only small gripe is I do wish they would remove the background music when there is dialogue. It is highly distracting (maybe it's too loud?). I don't mind the music maybe during transition scenes or for dramatic effect. But just the music playing while people are talking in the story is annoying and makes it hard to focus on the voices and what's being said. Imagine having music playing the whole time you're watching a live play on stage, even while the actors are talking. Yeah, that's what it was like. That background music is unnecessary.
Other than that, we loved the audiobooks!
Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for sending me this audiobook for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
I listened to this with my kids and we loved it!! The voices and theatrics are awesome! And the story was very engaging and fun!
Got this one for my son! Be absolutely loves these stories save has read all the hardcover ones! It was fun to listen to the audiobook!
My kids were really excited to get to “review” some books this summer. We tried the InvestiGators audiobooks first as my oldest really enjoys the books. I have 5 kids ages 3-9. I would say that the older 3 (ages 7 and 9) enjoyed this the most. The little ones found it a little hard to follow. Which, I expected.
The narrators were great. Each of the characters had their own unique voice that was easy to follow. The sound effects and break between chapters kept the kids’ attention and helped them follow the timeline. I think the audiobook was just as much fun as the book series!
What a wonderful addition to an already awesome series. The graphic novels are already super funny and hard to put down. Now add a full cast with sound production. You can't go wrong. Kids will love the audiobook version!
What a fun audio! My son loved these and listened to them in one day. The characters were lovable and the audio was smooth. My son says green isn't his favorite color - because it's the color of broccoli- BUT he thought the book was good.
Graphic novels turned into audiobooks. We find Mango and Brash, a pair of gator investigators in the thick of solving a missing persons case.
Book 1 - In their first mission Mango and Brash go undercover as bakers to help find chef Gustovo. But soon find themselves wrapped into a second case of a missing oven. Who kidnapped Gustovo and why? And why did they oven go missing, could they be connected?
Book 2 - In the second installment Mango and Brash must stop Crackerdile, formally known as Daryl, and his Spy-ball. But will the overly emotional robot that escaped from the Science Factory flood their mission?
Overall rating 4/5
Taking on an old time radio show estetic, this audiobook was equal parts humor and entertainment. My children have loved the InvesiGators books, so to hear them in audio form was intriguing. I loved the effort to describe the scenes and setting within the book, however I feel that sometimes it was a little confusing and could use more clarity. The multiple narrators made following the characters enjoyable and added to the hilarity of situations.
*Thank you to John Patrick Green, Netgalley and Macmillan Audio | Macmillan Young Listeners for the ARC copy. I am freely leaving my honest review.
This was very well done! I love that they adapted the physical books to really make them an audio production. The jokes land for adults just as they do for kids. My boys (6 and 8) love audiobooks and kept asking for these ones to find out what happened. That's a win in my books!
My kiddos (7.5 & 6) are some of the biggest InvestiGators fans you will meet. We have read through the series countless times over the years that my book worms have the stories memorized at this point. As big audiobook fans, they were ecstatic when we found out the first two graphic novels were being adapted to an audiobook format, but we were all curious to see how it would translate to this medium.
Our entire family had a blast listening to books one and two! The full cast narration was fantastic and we all loved the musical interludes and sound effects that accompanied the narration. It was so much fun hearing the stories brought to life in a new way and getting to hear the characters’ voices - my kids repeatedly said “that’s just how I imagined Mango and Brash’s voices sounded!”
This is perfect for longtime fans of the series or for younger readers picking up the books for the first time! Highly recommend!
This series is a hit with children. The audiobooks are fun and very entertaining. I love that it has two books together. Kids don’t want to stop listening.
