I can usually pick up any Lisa Jackson novel and no I’m gonna love it. However, I was a bit disappointed with our little secret. I can’t even pinpoint what it was with the story that bothered me, but I did not get into it. I’ll still continue to listen to all of Lisa’s Jackson’s book because she’s been too amazing of a writer to stop now.

Our Little Secret by Lisa Jackson - This was probably a solid 4 or 4.5 stars read but I'm taking an entire star off because of the horrible little sister blaming every bad thing in her life on the older sister and the older sister/MC just being a fricken side character in her own damn life. "I don't like playing the victim" WELL B*TCH YOU ARE THE VICTIM BECAUSE YOU DONT STAND UP FOR YOURSELF. Okay, woosaaahhhh, calm down. Yeah, so very good book and thriller, a tad predictable but otherwise good. If you have a toxic relative, whether it's a sibling, parent, aunt, grandparent, idfc, cut.them.the.f*ck.off.

This audiobook is narrated by January LaVoy

Deadly obsession?! 👀 You’ve got my attention!

I loved how this one was packed with drama and totally felt like a soap opera. There’s so many unlikeable characters but when all of them have their own secrets, it really seems to work and enhance the plot! Gideon is so cringeworthy yet sooo intriguing at the same time.

While this one was certainly twisty, it was a bit predictable, but that didn’t detract from its appeal! Get your popcorn ready, it’s certainly bingeable!

This book had me on the edge of my seat!!!

After a brief but passionate affair, Brooke needs it to end. Trouble is Gideon feels they belong together and he will do anything to keep her.

I was so paranoid for Brooke!! It was so tangible!!

I usually don't like books with unlikeable characters but I was so invested in what was going on, it was easy to overlook.

It was a well paced and I loved the psychological undertones to the book. It covers cheating and blind obsession and I was hooked right in.

I didnt see the ending coming either. So good!

4 stars!

This was a good book. It definitely held some juicy secrets. I thought the daughter and the sister were brats, but I guess that’s part of the story. Some of it was predictable, but some caught me by surprise. It definitely kept me interested. I did enjoy the audiobook.

I really struggled with this one. The unlikeable characters. They were just so annoying. The sister and the daughter grated on my nerves. The narration was well done tho.

Lisa Jackson’s "Our Little Secret" is a psychological thriller that dives deep into themes of infidelity, obsession, and the chilling lengths a stalker will go to achieve their desires. From start to finish, this audiobook grips listeners with its twists and turns that refuse to relent.

January LaVoy narrates this twisted thriller. LaVoy’s narration is pitch-perfect, using tone and inflection to increase the suspense and amplify the tension throughout. Despite preferring full casts for audiobooks, LaVoy’s performance shines brightly; her ability to differentiate between characters and maintain a captivating narrative flow kept me engrossed from the first chapter to the last. I highly recommend the audio for this one, it’s truly like watching a movie in your mind.

The plot of "Our Little Secret" unfolds like a rollercoaster ride, constantly surprising and unsettling. Just when you think you have it figured out, Jackson unveils another layer of deception or danger, keeping the story unpredictable and engaging. The story reaches what seems like a satisfying conclusion three-quarters of the way through, only to introduce a new level of unhinged twists that escalates until the final moments of the book.

If you enjoy movies like Fatal Attraction, you'll love this one. The novel captures the same unsettling creepy atmosphere, immersing listeners in a world where domestic drama collides with dark obsessions and dangerous secrets. This one has it all, domestic drama, stalkers, a steamy love affair, lies, betrayal, shady characters, and all the twists! 4 stars!

Our Little Secret written by Lisa Jackson and narrated by January LaVoy is an outstanding psychological thriller that gets right to the core of infidelity, obsession and a stalker who will go to any lengths to get what they want

January LaVoy is a fantastic narrator and really captured the haunting, chilling narrative that has been powerfully constructed by Lisa Jackson

Brooke Hastings has only had a short affair, a man she "bumped into" on a pier, a an who lived on hhis yacht, mysterious, but with an instant attraction. She knew it waas wrong, but in a marriage where she feels unseen, where she is permanently at odds with her teenage daughter, the intense passion and excitement was too much to ignore... but that level of passion comes at a cost and nothing is as good as it seems

Absolutely outstanding, a glorious thriller and one that will have your full attention to the end. Highly recommend!

This was a fun read!

Thank you NetGalley and publishers for the opportunity to read this ARC from Lisa Jackson!

This was my first book by this author and I have to say, it will not be my last. I enjoyed the writing style as it felt super fast paced and I loved the simplicity of it. I will say, at times it felt a bit repetitive, and I also was expecting a big twist and didn't feel like I got that, but I also need to learn that not all thrillers need to have a twist!

I could picture this book like a movie in my head and it definitely gave me some anxiety which I personally enjoy when reading a thriller. I also thought the narrator did a fantastic job and would definitely recommend!

3.5 stars for me!

When a affair turns into a deadly obsession.

I'll be honest, I wasn't a big fan of many of the characters in this book, but I was hooked on this obsession, and betrayal. I had my popcorn ready and was listening to this book nonstop and trying to guess what would happen next. The narrator, January LaVoy did a wonderful job portraying Brooke, Neal, their daughter and many more characters in this book. The tones and inflections used were great. January kept me hooked till the very end. The betrayal and the backstabs were good in this one.

How far will a mother go to protect the ones she loves?

Brooke Hastings is ready to end her six week affair. Her charming boy friend, Gideon, is a lot of fun but she realizes she does not want to throw away her marriage to Neil and upend her family. There’s just one problem: Gideon tells her he will never let her go. After a few scary months of cat-and-mouse where Gideon infiltrates just about every aspect of Brooke’s life, he fades away and she thinks she is finally free. Never in a million years does she expect him to show up again, but six years later, she begins to feel that same creepy feeling of being watched…just how far will Gideon go to ensure he and Brooke are together?

What a twisted ride this book was! From the beginning, it was clear that Gideon was obsessed and crazy, but I had no idea just how unhinged he really was! While I felt bad for Brooke, a lot of her behavior had me shaking my head too. But as a fellow mama bear, I really related to her fierce desire to protect her daughter from the evil that had crept into her life. Her sister really got under my skin, and I kept waiting to see what her true motives were - though I predicted some of the twists this would take, that didn’t stop me at all from getting caught up in this story. It was on the longer side, and a lot of time passed in this book, but I honestly ate it up! Waiting for the other shoe to drop in this family’s drama was a lot of fun.

All in all, this was a solid domestic thriller! With its setting near the marina and with the family’s lake cabin, it’s the perfect thriller to kick off summer reading with!

Our Little Secret is an addictive, bingeable, end of your seat chilling read. Is it something we've seen with the creepy obsessive lover, yes, but I was immediately sucked in. Jackson truly has an easy and effortless reading style that immerses you completely in the story. The vibe she was able to make me feel gave me goosebumps.

The characters are honestly something else, they were all so unlikable. They had so much drama between them that you couldn't help but just be so invested in what would happen and keep flipping those pages.

I loved this book, even if a little predictable in parts, it was so riveting and creepy with all the twists and turns that you cant help but be completely sucked into it !

🎧 The narration by January Lavoy is was perfect as usual. She brought the eerie, chilling vibe and just made you feel the fear and doubt from the characters. Highly recommend as an audio !

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (4.5/5)

I’ve read a few of Lisa Jackson’s books and I always like them. I haven’t picked one up in a while, and when I saw that she had a new book being released this month, I jumped on the chance to check it out. I’m so glad I did.

This book was filled with so many hateable characters. It’s perfect for this type of novel.

This book has it all…

🐾 Loyal Friend (🐶 - he lives btw) ❤️
😤An annoying irresponsible little sister
🧖‍♂️A steamy affair
👤A shady husband
🪟A stalker
🧍‍♀️An angsty teenage daughter
💨Missing young girls
📞Mysterious phone calls
👥👥Scum bags and suspects galore

Usually I’d say with a list like this, the author is doing too much BUT, as is the norm with Lisa Jackson books, she puts it all out there and weaves a story you won’t want to put down. Twisty success!

I mean, what more could you want!? I don’t want to give anything away but just know there is soooo much drama! I was soooo invested. Head was spinning about different theories and thoughts on who Brooke should trust.

It’s rare to find an author who can literally throw anything to the wall and IT STICKS! Sit back, get cozy and enjoy!

"Our Little Secret" by Lisa Jackson is a was a wild ride! This definitely kept me guessing.
The main character, Brooke, makes some seriously frustrating choices, but that's kinda what makes it a page-turner, you know? Overall, it's a good suspenseful read if you're a Lisa Jackson fan. I thought the audio book narration was done really well and they kept my attention and added to the suspense of this book!

Another good suspense thriller from Lisa Jackson with excellent narration by January LaVoy.
This book drew me in and made it almost impossible to put down. At times I became so frustrated with the MC, Brooke, and the decisions she made to handle it all herself rather than seek much needed help! Alas, it’s part of what kept me so engaged in the story just waiting to see if she would make good choices.
Brooke is back with her husband after a separation due to his extramarital affair. Only, she began an affair of her own with a man named Gideon while they were separated and decides to end it. Gideon refuses to let her end it and becomes obsessive and violent. Brooke, not wanting her family to know, keeps it to herself and realizes everyone is more and more in danger as Gideon escalates.
Things come to a head and she thinks she can leave him in the past and go on with her life, but can she really?
The story has twists and turns, some easily foreseen, others jaw dropping. Enough to maintain the tension throughout the book and find yourself holding your breath in anticipation.
Good plot and read for Lisa Jackson fans. I always enjoy her books.

I received an arc audiobook from NetGalley and Brilliance Audio and leave this review voluntarily.
