Jo mom to Kieran, Natalie mom to Freya, and Eleanor mom to Bella tell this story of what happens at a 8th birthday party, Kieran has issues but would he hurt a little girl? This is focused as much on the family back stories as it is on the event (which is, of course, over in a flash) and what comes after. The characters are interesting even if the scenario is familiar. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A good read.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!
This was an interesting rainy day mystery, with three different points of view that slowly merge across the course of the story. The mystery that eventually unfolds is certainly interesting and multi-faceted, and not too anxiety inducing for those of us who rip through pages to work out the ending when it's really high drama.
I feel like this book might have benefited a bit from cutting the POVs down, or at least making them a bit more distinct. I found the first half of the book a little tough to get into, and honestly, the second half was miles better as the threads knitted together. I thought this was a really interesting story, but it could have done with expansion in some places and some editing in other places.
I will say I was a little surprised as well by the amount of the book that was a preview for another book, and also how much of it was promos for other books again. I think it's fabulous that there are so many others to read, but nearly a quarter of my app copy was taken up by the previews and promos, which was a little bit much.
All in all, this was a fun little mystery with some interesting twists and turns, and well worth a quick weekend read!

These books are my favorite! I love how the author tells the story through three first person stories. It gives a new aspect and allows the reader to see the story through each person's eyes. It also leaves the reader second guessing who is behind the tragedy! It also reminds the reader that everything can change in the blink of an eye.
Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.

In The Blink of an Eye follows 3 different moms POVs. Jo has a son named Kieran, Natalie a daughter named Freya, and Eleanor a daughter named Bella. The kids are all in the same third grade classroom. Eleanor is known for throwing big parties for her kids. But for Bellas 8th birthday, she kind of wants to do something smaller. She invites the whole third grade class. But a tragic accident happens, and a kid ends up hurt. Was it an accident, or did someone do it on purpose?
As a mom of a speacial needs kid, I found myself relating to Jo the most with her situation with Kieran and trying to fit in with the circle of moms. The story felt to me a bit repetitive, but it will still have you hooked with trying to figure out what happened at that birthday party. I definitely didn't see the twist of what actually happened coming.

I REALLY enjoyed this book. I would probably categorize this as a suspense novel. There were some twists but nothing revolutionary. I don't think it was meant to be a jaw dropping ending type of book (which is what I'm typically into) and I didn't really miss that usual shock factor. It was a story that touched on pediatric mental health, unbalanced adult relationships, compassion for others (or lack thereof,) and spousal difficulties which are all really important topics. We always compare ourselves to others and I felt this book was a good example of why we shouldn't. We all go through "things" and that is okay. I liked the ending to this story as well. It felt cathartic. I felt relieved. The pressure from my chest lifted. If you want a well written book that keeps you on the edge of your seat, I highly recommend In the Blink of an Eye. This was my first book by Kate Hewitt and now I feel I have to go read all her others too.

When the 8 year old birthday girl is hurt at her party by the new to the neighborhood 7 year old boy with behavior issues, who is to blame? Told in alternating POV of the three main characters, this book was a rollercoaster full of emotions!

This was definitely a different read for sure. I feel like I expected a little bit more from this story but honestly I still really enjoyed it either way.

A Slow-paced mystery that is told in 3 different POV's that makes you question eventhing from start to finish which each turn of the page. But at the same time it also brings the fa to that there is no such thing as the perfect family.

At an eight-year-old birthday party, the birthday girl gets hurt. The person to blame is the new seven-year-old with behavioral issues who just moved from New York with his parents.
Slow-paced with three POVs yet wanted/needed to know what and who was truly to blame! I loved the self-awareness/reflection that the mothers showed! Along with how important communication is within all relationships!
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for providing this ARC!

This book had me all in my feels. When it got to the end I was so upset because I did not want the story to stop. Beautifully told and engaging at all times. I really loved this!

This book had me hooked from start to finish! I really enjoyed the rotating POV’s between the 3 main characters. I found them to be a smooth transition while also constantly giving more background to the story unfolding in front of us. The dynamic between both the familial and platonic relationships kept the plot interesting throughout. I also really enjoyed the epilogue, in fact I almost wish the epilogue included a snippet from all 3 of the characters alike POV.

Must-read.. it was violent, heartbreaking, and real....I loved every single page, I wanted to keep reading till the end even if it mean no sleep!

A birthday party that goes terribly wrong….. Fresh and dynamic... Fast-paced and spellbinding...a book you will have a hard time putting down.

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. This was an engaging and emotive read. Hewitt alternates between the three protagonists well, and I found each thread equally compelling and well written, creating sympathy for the characters.

This one was so good! I was seriously staying up way past my bedtime because I was dying to know what happened next. The characters were likeable (except Jennifer, UGH!) and I loved how all their stories created a perfect storm of events! Wonderful read!

Yet another fantastic book from this author. The story tells the tale of 3 mothers and their children and how they became linked when a serious incident happens at a 7 year 0ld birthday party.
Two of the mums are best friends whilst the other not long having moved into the area is finding it hard to fit in. It doens't help when her son is the main cause of it.
Her son is being blamed for what happened as he was seen where it happened. Does she have reason to be worried or was it an accident. All of them have secrets, even their husbands which will all come out in the ned.
Great book which I soon read.

An accident at a children’s birthday party causes a rift between parents and children alike when a child ends up seriously injured. It seems there was only one witness to the accident and he doesn’t want to talk even though he’s the one being blamed.
This story digs deep into family dynamics and what can happen when assumptions are made. No family is without blame, though they’d all like to think they are. Female friendships can be complicated, especially when children are involved, and this author does a great job portraying the different personalities of each character.
Told from multiple POV’s, this is a gripping novel with a great storyline. Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

I'm usually more.of a thriller type but I do love a good story about just how hard and complex it is being a woman, mother fried, wife and more! And this definitely delivered. It was captivating from the start and you really felt for the struggles that the women went through. They characters are so human and relatable, the situations although extreme.... not impossible which is what makes it all so scary. Amazing writing, captivating storyline and a really engaging read

This is a well written book that captures the often-difficult world of female friendships and how it can impact the families. Joanna arrives to pick up her son at a birthday party when another mother points at her and says, "this is all Kieran's fault". A little girl is seriously injured, and people make assumptions without any knowledge of what really happened. Navigating through your child's world can be filled with drama, cruelty, and judgement. Every child is different, and every family is different. It looks at how people can pretend to be someone that they are not just to impress others. This is a well written portrayal of relationships between friends, couples and families. I really enjoyed this heartfelt book and highly recommend it. I was given an advanced copy of this book, and this is my honest opinion.

Kate Hewitt’s In the Blink of an Eye is
an adult fiction novel that centers on three women—told from three point of views—that have to deal with the aftermath of a little boy who seriously injures a girl in his class on her birthday. And the big thing of this book is that the boy is the child of Joanna, a new woman in town, and the girl is the daughter of Eleanor, and Natalie is Eleanor’s best friend. The story takes place in a rich-style society where Joanna, her husband, and son are oddballs that just don’t seem to fit in.
I’m going to be honest and say that this book was not at all impressive to me. I felt like all three women narrators all seemed to have the same voice style and I was constantly confused even when each chapter foretold who was speaking in each chapter. I didn’t even feel connected to any of the characters and didn’t care how the book ended—I even had my phone read the book aloud to me as I did chores around the house.
The book was very slow paced, in my opinion. I felt like it was just never ending, and the characters were just always doing the same thing in the same area, always talking and thinking the same things. I’m not sure if I would appreciate the book more if I wasn’t told in the summary of the book that the new boy in town was the one who jump started the whole story, but . . . I just feel like there wasn’t anything that really surprised me.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this advanced copy of In the Blink of an Eye for an honest review.
