This is my first time reading something by this author and I really enjoyed it. The story caught my attention from the beginning and held it all the way through. Reality show rom coms are becoming very popular these days, and this one certainly followed suit. The story follows Emmy who has really been down on her luck recently both financially and when it comes to love. In an effort to make more money and get her life back on track, she signs up as a contestant on the Big Wild Love Adventure, not really caring much for the love aspect, her only goal is the money. But while on the show, she feels a strong pull towards a fellow cast member, Wes. Emmy just may get another chance at love after all.
The book is full of drama and romance with plenty of laugh out loud moments throughout. The storyline was engaging and had a nice smooth flow with wonderful characters. It definitely left me with a smile on my face and a happy feeling afterwards. The characters were interesting and well-developed with realistic qualities that gave them an authentic personality and were easily relatable. I enjoyed their interactions and seeing them together. The story was delightfully cute and a great escape. I found this to be a thoroughly entertaining and adorable story and am glad I had the opportunity to read it.
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
I felt like this story line was trying too hard. I'm sure that many who are all in for the romance will love it, but I needed a bit more to the storyline.
I am a Keyes fan. I enjoy her writing style, which is crisp, unsentimental, and beautiful. Her characters are full and her writing is crisp and unsentimental. This book is her lightest, with a large cast of secondary characters and a light angst tone. The story follows Emmy, who's life falls apart and she is submitted to a game show. The romance is slow burn, with minimal sexual content. Emmy's journey is central, and she is a beloved heroine. The book is in first person, so it may detract from fully exploring the hero. If you're not a Keyes fan, this is a great place to start, and her rom-coms have something for everyone.
Thank you to Netgalley and publishers for the free copy for an honest review.
i read this on holiday and devoured it in one sitting!
one of my favourite settings is a reality tv setting and this really hit the spot for me, the show itself was bizarre but it kept me hooked and i loved getting to know our characters through this. i loved our fmc emmy, seeing her growth throughout the book made me so proud. wes also grew so much throughout and i loved seeing their chemistry intensify, i think it was so well-written and almost felt as if i was watching the show myself as opposed to reading it!
i can’t want to read more from this author and recommend this to anyone looking for a summer read.
thank you so much to netgalley, the publisher and the author for the arc 🫶🏻
This was the perfect summer read. It was an easy to read with little conflict. I loved the reality TV setting its always so much fun and chalked full of drama, especially with a bacheloresque show. This book had quite a few laugh-out-loud-worthy moments.
This book was just okay for me. I wanted so much to love this book, I did really enjoy the concept of a dating show mixed with survivor type challenger. However the characters were very juvenile in my opinion and it just did not bode well with me. I think the main character Emmy was very childish at times and it did get quite annoying. I did still feel the need to finish the book however very predictable you can absolutely guess the ending. Also very annoying how long it took the MCs to finally get together. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to read this book through NetGalley but this one was not for me.
Such a fun read … people competing on a reality show meant to find love and adventure in Panama area. The show itself was strange, but characters and situations were hilarious.
This was an absolutely adorable story! It felt as enthralling and captivating as a perfect combination of all my favorite reality tv shows rolled into one.
I was obsessed with Emmy’s character who had every right to whine but never did, I love her story of self discovery and shedding all the old expectations and bad luck as she forges a new life for herself in the Panama jungle!
The characters and chemistry were all so well written I love the way it felt like I was watching it!
I love romance novels and I love romance reality TV shows so this book wraps it into the perfect little package for me.
Emmy had had a rough year including being dumped at her wedding by her cheating fiancé and having her food truck baking business be hit by set back and set back.
When her friend and assistant convinces her to drunkingly apply for a reality love adventure show she doesn't expect to get on but she could use the cash prize.
I love the elements of all different reality shows it incorporates but I also love the growth of all the characters throughout the novel.
A very enjoyable read that I whipped through in a day as I was enjoying so much.
This was a great read! It was all about Emmy and Wes but I feel all of the characters grew thrown into a jungle. True friendship were formed and everyone reflected on where their lives were and came out better in the end. I screen shot a line in the book that held some truth to each of their stories, “ Maybe it’s ridiculous to take a life lesson from a reality show , but maybe it’s not so far fetched either. Maybe the point of this trek was simply putting one foot in front of the other,to keep going when things get hard, to stop looking backward and keep looking forward.I think that rings true for everyone. Thank you to NetGalley for this free advanced copy. I’m leaving this review voluntarily.
This book was the fun escape I needed. Emmy, a down-on-her-luck baker, gets drunk with her assistant and signs up for a reality show. Hijinks ensue.
Seriously, if you love summer reality shows, this book is for you. It’s cute, sweet, funny, and an easy read.
I felt like a Bachelor contestant. The characters are wonderfully relatable. The author’s vivid descriptions and engaging dialogue make it easy to get lost in the story. This novel is a delightful read that leaves you with a warm, fuzzy feeling and a renewed belief in the power of love. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a feel-good romance!
Kate and Logan are compelling characters who undergo significant growth throughout the novel. Kate is portrayed as strong-willed and independent, yet vulnerable beneath her tough exterior, while Logan is charismatic and adventurous, with hidden layers that gradually emerge as their relationship develops.
The romance between Kate and Logan unfolds with a satisfying blend of passion, humor, and tender moments. Keyes skillfully builds their chemistry, allowing their connection to evolve naturally amidst the challenges they face in the wilderness and in their personal lives.
The book follows our female lead Emmy who was left at the altar by her fiancée for his pregnant girlfriend (what a douchebag 🤮) and whose food truck business is going down the drainw. Since her personal and professional life are both in doom, on her assistant’s constant pester, she applies to a reality dating show with zero interest of participating. Well guess what, Emmy gets selected and with a suitcase filled with fifteen different bathing suits she embarks on this journey with one thing on her mind, to win some cash prize and settle her debt. However, things don’t always go the way you want especially when there’s a really sexy guy who not only is hot but also very kind and seems to be really into her.
As Emmy joins the cast members of the show, there’s an immediate spark between her and Wes. It’s like one of those unspoken things that you cannot see but absolutely feel. I enjoyed reading the book and the numerous challenges they participated in. It was funny and interesting knowing that a lot of their challenges involved food and mess. This book also reminded me a lot of the Korean dating show called Single’s Inferno because they had a similar setting and similar kind of tasks and contestants.
There were so many different characters in the book but Tad definitely left a lasting memory aside to Emmy and Wes. It’s nice to read about characters that show growth in a story especially one like this who transformed from a narcissistic muscly dude to a kind and compassionate friend.
The love story between Emmy and Wes was such a delight to read and I liked it. They both were in a similar situation where they didn’t have luck in love and it’s just so beautiful to read about characters like this who find each other in the most unexpected way. It’s a rather interesting book as it tackles on the subject of a dating reality show which I’ve never read about prior to this. I did feel the book was rather too long, the writer could have cut short on some of the challenges. Other than that I would say it was an enjoyable read that got me hooked after some time
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a really fun book. If you like watching reality shows then you will love this book!
Loved this one! Great and fun read. Highly recommend.
Many thanks to the publisher, Netgalley, and the author for my ARC.
I really enjoyed this book! I tend to shy away from reality tv rom coms, but I am so happy that I took a chance on this one. I loved the FMC and the MMC and the detail that went into setting the stage. I also loved all of the side characters and their relationship development! I do wish that there had been a bit more detail in the FMC's food truck business. I feel like that was kind of dismissed although it was the premise of the book to begin with. Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy to read and review!
When the story was focused on Wes and Emmy it was promising, but the cast of characters was just too big, too broad. I never got invested in their story. The writing itself was good, which is why I’m giving it 3 stars instead of 2.
Don’t read this review if you haven’t read the book yet!
Wes and Emmy 🥹🫶🏻
When I read this book it felt like I was watching Big Wild Love Adventure on my tv. The story is so well written and I loved it so much. I really loved the characters and everything felt so real. I highly recommend this book if you want to read a fun and good read this summer.
Thank you Netgalley and Victory Editing Netgalley Co-Op for this arc.
This book was so cute! It is absolutely the best romance book for the summer/beach time. The romance was so cute and it felt like I was watching a reality show!
