I absolutely devoured this read and could not believe the heart and grit that the plot conveyed. I found myself in tears over the selflessness that Lucy conveyed and found Graham to be so wholly.broken and wanted so much for him.

Wow, what an amazing book! I've been wanting to read one of Brittainy Cherry's books for the longest time, and this was such a good introduction into her work. I've already bought another book from this series. I could not put this one down. One of the quotes I keep coming back to is, "she was the girl who felt everything, and I was the man who felt nothing." And if that doesn't sum up the book perfectly, I don't know what does. I loved how Lucy thawed Graham's icy, cold heart just by being her and showing him that people do stay. UGH, all the feels! I can't recommend this one enough!

Tropes:
- single dad
- forbidden romance
- slow burn
- found family

The Gravity of Us is a heartfelt love story about two unlikely individuals who bond over raising a child and ultimately fall in love. Fate brings together Graham, a man hardened by his father's mistreatment and his mother's abandonment, and Lucy, a free-spirited, loving dreamer who shines like a ray of sunshine for Graham and his infant daughter, Talon.

Graham, who struggles with trust and lacks people skills, believes everyone eventually leaves. Despite his past, he becomes a better man and a devoted father. His commitment to his child from the moment she was born is truly heartwarming. Pure and untainted by the world's cruelty, Lucy is always willing to help and brings warmth and joy to Graham's life. She even gives him the cute nickname, Graham Cracker 🫠.

Their slow-burn romance is beautifully portrayed, with Graham opening up to love by caring for his daughter and experiencing Lucy's unwavering support. Their journey isn’t an easy one but is filled with special moments and serves as a celebration of being your authentic self and being loved for it.

This book is an emotional roller coaster of love, transformation, fatherhood, sisterhood, and found family, with plenty of laughs and smiles along the way. The Gravity of Us is a must-read for fans of the grumpy/sunshine trope, and for anyone who loves a story full of twists and turns, flawed characters, and self-discovery.

I received a gifted copy of this book.

he Gravity of Us by Brittainy Cherry is one of those books that had me feeling everything all at once. The forbidden love trope is at the heart of this story, and I’ll admit—it made me uncomfortable and excited at the same time. There’s something about the tension of wanting two people to be together despite all the reasons they shouldn’t that kept me turning the pages late into the night.

Graham and Lucy’s connection is raw and deeply emotional, and watching their relationship unfold was both beautiful and heartbreaking. Graham’s cold, guarded demeanor clashing with Lucy’s open-hearted warmth created a dynamic that was impossible to look away from. It wasn’t just their chemistry—it was the way they slowly unraveled each other’s walls, making the forbidden aspect of their love feel even more intense.

There were moments when the weight of their circumstances felt heavy, and I questioned if I could handle where the story was taking me. But Brittainy Cherry’s writing has a way of pulling you in and making you feel everything so deeply, even when it’s uncomfortable.

While the pacing dragged slightly in a few places, the emotional payoff was worth it. This book isn’t just about romance—it’s about healing, forgiveness, and the ways love can both break and save us.

Beautiful book! Brittainy always serves emotional angst in the most precious plates. Characters are solid, plot was intriguing but could be refined a bit more. Romance was a perfect balance of raw and realistic!

First of all, I'm a big fan of this author's writing. This is my second read from this series and I enjoyed it. It is not my favorite but it was well written and I liked the storyline. "The girl who felt everything falling in love with the guy who felt nothing was beautiful." The additional tropes of family tension and miscommunication were not my favorite and at times seemed unnecessary. Overall, this was a good read with a happy ending, so I would still recommend it.

Thank you to Sourcebooks and Colored Pages for this advanced copy. I am reviewing this book as part of a book tour and all opinions and thoughts are honest and my own.

The Gravity of Us- The title drew me in. The story kept me. I highlighted so many passages while reading this book. One thing that I can guarantee from Brittainy Cherry is that I am going to get life lessons and an emotional read.

The beginning of this story took me in. Was I prepared for that type of emotional pull in the beginning? No. I expected to reach that towards the middle of the book. But it was written well and I was emotional attached to Lucy.

Overall I did enjoy this story. It was a easy read and I was able to digest it. I was a little stressed with the fact Graham was married and him developing feeling for Lucy. That was for sure weird and I am still not fully ok with that aspect of the story. But ignoring that piece of the story, I enjoyed it.

THIS WAS EVERYTHING.

I couldn’t put this down from chapter one. All of a sudden I had a deep need to know what happened next and so I began a journey of ALL the dang emotions through the lives of Lucy and Graham.

“If you need to fall, fall into me.”
I mean, COME ON. Look at those words. Did you swoon? Because I swooned so many times throughout this book!! One of my new favorite grump and sunshine trope reads. I loved these characters with my whole being. I found myself almost in tears by the end waiting for a happy ending. I love that Lucy was optimistic and truly cared from her soul about her loved ones. That Graham was hardened by abandonment, but was also able to work on himself. The chemistry was undeniable. It was a slowwww burn and incredibly romantic with all of the lead up.

An incredibly sweet story that has a lot of heavy and deep content matter (I’ll put that in the warnings below). I adored the banter and soft smiles. The cute way they just hung out together. How they undeniably stood by each other’s side when things got hard instead of running away. I was wrapped up in this opposites attract love story and I beg of you to read it!!

Overall audience notes:
- Contemporary romance
- Language: some strong
- Romance: kisses to one brief open door scene
- Trigger/Content Warnings: a mother smoked while pregnant (off screen), emergency delivery, preemie baby in NICU, cheating, loss of parent(s), domestic abuse, alcoholism, child abuse, parental/spousal abandonment

The Gravity of Us, by Brittainy C. Cherry is the fourth title in the Elements series.

This is a cover rerelease planned for December 17, 2024, originally published in 2017. This title won a Goodreads Choice Award for Romance in 2017.

*Grump MMC / Sunshine FMC
*Extreme family trauma
*Child abandonment

I was very worried that I wouldn’t enjoy this title due to the nature of content and the relationship status of the MMC. I do not read cheating, I will DNF a book real quick if I am blindsided by that storyline…

However, the reviews of this book made me hope that I could get through this title without needing to scream and cry. The other titles in this series have been excellent and I was hoping for the same outcome for this book as well.

Graham and Lucy meet when they both got locked in a room together at Graham’s father’s funeral. Lucy is the florist that provided the arrangements, Graham is a best-selling mystery author.

They both soon find out that Graham is also married to Lucy’s oldest sister and she is pregnant with his child. Lucy and her oldest sister have not spoken, or seen each other, is many years. Hardly any communication since the death of their mother. Lucy’s sister had not told Graham anything about her family, going so far as to change her name.

The relationship between the FMC and the MMC was so well written! The author does an amazing job telling her stories so that you feel the heartaches and the romance all in one story.

Guaranteed HEA, some OW drama in the last bit of the book, no OM drama.

Favorite quotes:
“…and I miss the memories that never existed.” -Graham (MMC)

“Air above me, earth below me, fire within me, water surround me, spirit becomes me.” -Lucy (FMC)

She was the girl who felt everything, and I was the man who felt nothing at all.
