Much love for Kelly Bishop! It was neat to hear her life story beyond Gilmore Girls, since in reality it was just a snippet of her robust, dance-filled life.

Kelly Bishop is the wonderful grandma & mom from Gilmore Girls. Kelly Bishop tells the wonderful story of her life, some of her most iconic rolls and her life. I greatly enjoyed this book and the unique look at her life.

Celebrity memoirs generally don’t arouse much interest in me, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get to know the real life Emily Gilmore.

It turns out Kelly Bishop and her character don’t have much in common (probably a good thing), and I found I liked Kelly the person immensely, in addition to enjoying the character she played on Gilmore Girls.

Bishop doesn’t bore you with silly childhood details or unsubtle humble brags like most celeb memoirs do, and there’s no great tragedy in her background being exploited. She’s just telling her story, and it’s a tremendously good one centered on a truly likable, interesting woman.

Her love of animals really resonated with me, and though I have kids and adore them, I also love seeing a woman unapologetically saying she didn’t want kids and has no regrets about it.

I highly recommend the audiobook, as it’s ready by the author in her wonderfully distinct voice.
