Deadly Revenge by Patricia Bradley is the third and final novel in the Pearl River series and it is a great finale to an awesome series! Pearl Springs deputy Jenna Hart and TBI agent Max Anderson have a history from when they worked at the Chattanooga Police Department. They are forced back together when it seems threats against political figures that Max is protecting are related to murders that Jenna is investigating. We have seen Jenna in the first two novels of the series but it was great to get her story and background. Seeing her past and the PTSD she deals with was nicely written. I enjoy books where we get snippets from the culprit's point of view so I liked that this was an aspect of this book. I also enjoyed the romance elements between Max and Jenna as they get reacquainted. Overall this is a great novel with a great suspense element without being too creepy.

Deadly Revenge has been sent to me by Revell and Netgalley for review:

A killer targets city officials only seven months after Jenna Hart begins working in Pearl Springs. A dam construction 20 years ago resulted in eminent domain taking people's land. Someone with a grudge is clearly set on revenge, as the wound has not healed with time. Jenna will have to call in backup to protect the former mayor of Pearl Springs who is now running for the US Senate.

This is where Agent Maxwell Anderson comes in. He and Jenna used to work together in the Chattanooga Police Department, and there was even a spark of attraction between them. Together, they track down the killer before a big political rally that will target not only the former mayor, but hundreds of civilians as well.

I give Deadly Revenge five out of five stars!!’

Happy Reading!

Jenna and Max must draw on every skill they possess to stay alive and prevent the wave of disaster poised to hit the community of Pearl Springs as the sparks of romance reignite and the threads of the investigation get tangled as another suspect enters the picture. Can either of them fully trust the other to protect them?

I really liked the Pearl River finale! It's well plotted and I liked we had two mysteries within the story. Patricia is one of my must reads for CF suspense and this book is a perfect example as to why!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.

"Deadly Revenge" is a Christian romantic suspense. It's the 3rd book in the series but works as a standalone. Jenna discovered that her ex-boyfriend is a dirty cop involved in drug trafficking, but she's unable to prove it. He discredited her, so she moved to work as a deputy in Pearl Springs. Unfortunately, the gang-leader she was able to take down and her ex are now active in this community and work to make people question her judgment here as well.

State police officer Maxwell's tasked with protecting the former mayor during a political rally. The threating letter he received may be connected with the series of murders that Jenna's investigating. Maxwell admired her after working with her in the past, but he questioned if her mind was playing tricks on her due to PTSD. Despite this doubt, they worked well together in solving the cases.

The murder mystery was a clue-based puzzle whodunit while the suspense mainly came from the pair playing mind games with Jenna with the intent to eventually kill her. The main characters were likable, complex, and reacted realistically to events. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable suspense.

Deadly Revenge by Patricia Bradley - 4.5 Stars
Book 3 in the Pearl River Series

What a great conclusion to the Pearl River Series! Set in Tennessee near Chattanooga in the fictional town of Pearl River, Russell County Deputy Jenna Hart and TBI Agent Maxwell Anderson work together to protect a former mayor who is running for the US Senate office. Max is also Jenna's old boss so they are familiar with each other. I loved learning more about Jenna's story and seeing her with Max was great. We see bits and pieces of her past when she was shot and is dealing with PTSD from those events, so when she is back in town, she is questioning everything -even the fact that someone could possibly be out to get her and sneaking around her home looking for some old incriminating photos she took from the past of some criminals.

I really liked the small town feel, as usual in Pat's books. As a Tennessee girl, I love her books so much for the settings and familiar towns and areas I know of, or can easily picture. The details about the dam were very interesting as I know about a lot of dams from East Tennessee where I grew up and could easily picture the issues going on there.

The romance between Max and Jenna was a slow burn, but nice because he really wanted to keep her safe, and I liked that. I did want a bit more in the romance but still a great romantic suspense overall. Fans of Christian romantic suspense will enjoy this series! The suspense element stands out for me in this one. While we knew who the bad guys were early, it was interesting to see their POV sometimes and kind of know what was going to happen next in a way as our main characters tried to figure everything out for themselves. Highly recommend.

Thank you to the publisher Revell for a copy to honestly read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I forgot I had read book 2 in this series until I picked up Deadly Revenge last week. Unfortunately, I much prefer Fatal Witness, for its characters if nothing else.

Story: 4/5

Worldview: 3/5

The story had a really interesting premise, with a great start in the first few chapters. The added element of seeing the villain's POV was really cool! With every new character introduced, I was trying to put the pieces together to see if I could figure out who it was (I didn't, haha). The mystery alone was pretty solid, but there were points where the story felt almost too complicated for the length of the novel. Even by the end, a few plot threads were left unresolved. Or they were so quickly resolved that I didn't really feel the resolution.

The two main characters, Jenna and Max, had little chemistry and most of the attraction between them felt physical more than real connection. In the first few chapters, you learn that they had kissed at an office Christmas party. Even though Jenna and Max were new characters in this book, I was left with the distinct impression that I had missed something important. (I didn't, but that initial feeling of being unsettled never really went away.) By the 50% mark, the story picked up again, and all in all I would say it was entertaining.

The worldview was fine. I didn't expect much of a faith message in this book, and it didn't have one. The main themes of the novel revolved around trust, both others and yourself. Jenna as a character struggled with PTSD and second-guessing herself. The villain of the novel played into her PTSD, but after about the 60% mark it became really annoying to see that no one believed Jenna.

Overall thoughts: In any case, if you're looking for a light, entertaining story, you'll probably enjoy Deadly Revenge. I prefer a little more substance in the novels I read, and I couldn't really connect with the characters and plot, so I was left disappointed with this one.

Note: I received a free eARC of this book from Netgalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

As Jenna Hart and Maxwell (Max) Anderson team up to solve the revolving door of crimes this romantic suspense has a level of psychological thriller mixed in. There is a lot happening in this story and everyone seems to have a motive for causing all the trouble. But who is ultimately responsible? Will this dynamic duo unravel the pieces before it costs someone else their life?
This is another great Pearl Springs novel by Patricia Bradley. I think this is my favorite of the series. I'm not sure the synopsis accurately portrays what ultimately happens in this novel but you'll just have to read it to find out why! (No spoilers!)
I like the story line, the mystery, the way the author integrates the heroine from the first book in the series. I like the questions and was kept guessing through a lot of the story.
Thank you to NetGalley and Revell for the opportunity to review this book! All opinions are my own.

Deadly Revenge, by Patricia Bradley, introduces Chattanooga Detective Jenna Hart. She is gathering intel on some local drug dealers. Along the way, Jenna reconnects with Agent Maxwell Anderson. The attraction they formerly felt still seems to be very close to the surface!

This tale gets interesting as Jenna and Max work together on a case involving the tragic death of a city councilman. When another former councilman seems to be targeted as well, you know this case has just gotten bigger and definitely more dangerous!

After another dead body shows up, Jenna and Max have two suspects in mind. As typical with Patricia Bradley’s books, there is a surprise ending to this tale!

Wow! If you're looking for romantic suspense, pick this one up NOW! Deadly Revenge wraps up Patricia Bradley's Pearl River series with a plot that keeps her main character, Jenna Hart, second-guessing what she knows to be true.

As a detective and the only woman in the gang unit in the Chattanooga Police Department, Jenna Hart gets sidelined nearly every operation. When she is sent out to "watch and report" on a possible drug deal, she steps in to save the life of a child and ends up being shot herself. The PTSD she suffers afterward further cements (in the minds of her superiors) that a woman can't handle the pressure of the job. Relegated to desk work, she resigns and heads home to Pearl River, Tennessee where she is hired as a detective with the Sheriff's department. When a prominent local couple is killed in an "accident", Jenna discovers the clue that says it was sabotage. As a third body is found with strong ties to the first, can she find a killer even as her past comes back to threaten her?

TBI agent Max Anderson fell for Jenna back when he was her supervisor on the Chattanooga police force. Their only kiss came as they wrapped up their op. She moved up to detective and he moved out to TBI. When TBI is asked to provide protection for a prominent senatorial candidate in Pearl River, it only takes one look for Max to remember the feelings he had for Jenna. As the danger surrounding Jenna ramps up, can he protect both her and the candidate when she keeps saying she can take care of herself? Working together, can they find the person threatening the candidate before he kills again?

I LOVE Bradley's books. Her characters are smart, capable, and willing to help others. Deadly Revenge qualifies as a second chance romance for Jenna and Max, but the suspense holds the reader's attention throughout the story. I look forward to whatever Bradley writes NEXT!

This was such a great suspenseful read! The story line was great and there were so many twists that kept me guessing how it was going to end.
After being shot and suffering through PTSD, Jenna Hart decides to leave her big city detective job behind and move to her small hometown. Now working for the local department, a new case seems to be a simple accident, but turns out to be murder. As she continues to investigate, her old boss, now turned TBI agent, Maxwell Anderson, joins the case. As they search for answers sparks start to fly and danger lurks around each turn.

I really loved this book and highly recommend you give it a read!

Such a great book! I wanted the book to end to see who was behind the mischief but in the same way I didn't want it to end.

Jenna and Max were enjoyable characters and the supporting characters were also interesting. I especially enjoyed Jenna's grandma!

The suspense was just the right amount to keep the reader wanting to keep the pages turning!

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.

Deadly Revenge is a whirlwind of a book. There are numerous threads woven together that don’t resolve until it’s almost too late. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Jenna Hart is a good deputy in Pearl River Tennessee. She is starting over after being shot on the job as a detective in Chattanooga.
Maxwell Anderson worked with Jenna once upon a time in Chattanooga before moving on to work in Tennessee’s Bureau of Investigation. He comes to Pearl River to help set up security for a native son who is running for the senate.
Events conspire to get Jenna and Max working together to figure out what is going on in Jenna’s hometown. The spark lit in Chattanooga is going to reignite in Pearl River.
I haven’t read any of the other books in the series, so I didn’t know the back stories of some of the other characters. There was enough to help me not feel completely out of the loop.
I recommend reading Deadly Revenge to find out what happens and see a sweet love come to life.
Thanks to Netgalley and Revell for the opportunity to read this book.

I always look forward to a new release from Patricia Bradley. Deadly Revenge did not disappoint. This book has us back in Pearl River, Tennessee under the jurisdiction of Chief Deputy Alex Stone. Former Chattanooga detective Jenna Hart is now serving on the Pearl River force, returning to her hometown, leaving a difficult work environment behind. Now it appears someone may be entering her home when she is away, leaving no tangible evidence behind. TBI Agent Max Anderson is in Pearl River investigating threats against a political candidate scheduled to speak in the small town. Jenna and Max have a past; readers will have to read to see if they have a future as they work together to determine who may be a threat to Jenna and who is a threat to the candidate.

Patricia Bradley has a well-paced writing style, not only revealing information at just the right time, but also never rushing an ending, something that is very important to me. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of Deadly Revenge from Revell via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Intrigue at its best!
Intrigue and suspense starts at the beginning and continues throughout. Is there one suspect for multiple crimes or is there more going on that is not originally obvious? Is there one person or group bent on revenge because of a long-time grudge? Is sabotage planned because of betrayal or revenge? Are the crimes actually deflections to cover up a different crime? Whatever the reason, it’s a race against time to find the culprit or culprits.
I was given a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the publisher for my honest review.

Deadly Revenge is another suspenseful book in the Pearl Springs Series by Patricia Bradley. Very true to life, city officials are being targeted by a killer. Deputy Jenna Hart has been working in Pearl Springs less than a year but she knows the ins and outs of police work because of previous work in the Chattanooga Police Department. That is where she had worked with Agent Maxwell Anderson who comes to help.

I love a `second chance at love story especially one that involves characters of integrity, brains, and a desire to serve and protect. Jenna and Max have that by the boat load standing in the gap to protect the innocent and stop the criminals. So that means in this story, the romance does not take the focus away from doing their job to the best of their ability with God’s help. A nail-biting at times story but one where you believe that the good guys will win with God’s protection. Deadly Revenge is an addictive third book in the awesome series.

Romantic suspense doesn’t get any better than this book with its second chance at love trope and danger running rampant in the small town of Pearl Springs. When Jenna Hart left Chattanooga under a cloud of suspicion, she found a new place and a new job as a deputy in Pearl Springs, back home where her roots are. But when local men are murdered, her refuge isn’t safe anymore. TBI agent Max Anderson comes to town to protect a Senate candidate and finds out that the threats against him are real, but all is not as it seems. The deceit is in layers in this book and unravels carefully and enticingly. There is a subplot about Jenna’s being endangered by her past and the two plots are woven together seamlessly. I really enjoyed the dynamics between the main characters and the realistic dialogue with the secondary characters. I especially liked the mystery that was gripping and the tension that escalated as danger got closer to Jenna and Max. The story is expertly crafted and addictive. By the end of the first chapter, I was totally engaged in the story and wanted to keep reading to find out what the secrets were and why so many people were involved in keeping it. The author teasingly reveals the details slowly and in a perfect way to keep me engrossed in the plot and the lives of the characters. Perfectly paced and with realistic and unique characters, this book is one not to miss that captivated me as I pieced together the clues right along with the characters.

I've been looking forward to this book, and it did not disappoint. This whole series has kept me on the edge of my seat, but this one is my favorite. I was invested from the very first paragraph and could hardly set the book down to tend to other things. I finished it in record time. It was intriguing and suspenseful the whole way through.

I really liked Jenna and Max. They made a great team as they worked together to solve the baffling crimes going on around town. There were some things they had to work through, but I was rooting them on the whole time.

It was really interesting (and infuriating) hearing about what happened when the dam was built and the trouble it caused and might still be causing twenty years later. The tension and intrigue kept rising as the story progressed and had me turning the pages as fast as possible, eager to discover the outcome.

This was a fantastic romantic suspense that had a dash of psychological thriller thrown into the mix. I highly recommend it! Even though it's book three in the series, it stands alone perfectly fine.

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

This was an intricately woven story with lots of mystery and a side of romance. The storyline will keep you guessing right up to the end.

Max and Jenna have a history which collides in the present with multiple threats and deaths occurring in the town Jenna now works in. When Max shows up as a TBI agent Jenna must learn to work and trust him again.

Lots of twists and turns in this story and definitely one I would recommend.

Pearl River, book #3

Deputy Jenna Hart has been working Pearl Springs for sometime now when city officials begin to be targeted by a killer. Is someone bearing a grudge and is set on revenge after the construction of a dam forced people to move out… Agent Maxwell Anderson is assigned to the case and will work along with Jenna to solve the mystery….and as the investigation progresses and the teams track down the killer….a smoldering attraction sparks into a romance…. Awe.

This mystery has a bit of everything: a killer, some suspense, a bit of teasing romance, subdued action, some tension, has an interesting premise, good actors, nicely written, clean language, some chapters from the killer’s point of view and a multilayered mystery to unravel. In general, this story is well-done and should please all who enjoy an entertaining journey with a light overlay of romance and faith.

“Deadly Revenge” , pulled my away from my usual read and it gave me a refreshing change, so nice to have from time to time.

The third in the Pearl River series is hard to put down as Jenna Hart tries to fight back her PTSD while solving a complex mystery. Shadows of the past keep creeping back. Do the recent murders have anything to do with a dam project from years ago? Or is it just her imagination? Readers who love mysteries will enjoy this multilayered story. Highly recommended!
