Loved this book! Great reminders for myself, but also at work as a team-leader and making sure our actions/thoughts promote an environment of belonging vs. fitting in.

Great book that teaches smaller school-age kiddos about compassion, empathy, and kindness. It takes the reader through the alphabet assigning each letter a word that pertains to a social skill surrounding belonging. It moves along at a pretty good clip for being 40 pages. The drawings, for the most part, pertain to the word being highlighted. Some of the drawings were a bit confusing (M for "mistakes" was a total miss) but most kids will overlook. There is an undercurrent through the story as well as the drawings about self-acceptance which I believe enriches the skills the book is trying to teach.
There are activities for caregivers at the end of the book which really do a good job of explaining how to use this book to its fullest. Definitely a great addition to any classroom. Valuable lessons that every child should learn when starting school.

This is a beautiful book about belonging, and of kids accepting themselves and each other. The illustrations are fun, and I love that the author takes us through the whole alphabet to drive the message home. Highly recommended for young readers at home, at school, or in the public library!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced digital reader's copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review!

B is for Belonging is an alphabet book for little ones that has a different lesson about acceptance for each letter. I though the illustrations were really charming and appreciated the message that was so lovingly worked into each page. This is a great way for parents to teach their kiddos about empathy and inclusion from a very early age.

Thanks to Shannon Anderson, NetGalley, and Teacher Created Materials for the chance to read and review this advanced copy!

I enjoyed the message of this book, as well as the way that it incorporated learning the alphabet and important topics as well. I think it's a great message for children to learn and read about, teaching them about being themselves and embracing others with empathy and compassion, celebrating peoples gifts and what makes them unique. I did not love the artwork and the style of drawing in the book, but I think that it will appeal to children.

Such a wonderful and important message! We all belong, in so many ways, to so many kinds of groups. This is a fantastic way to share this message, going through the alphabet. My favorite was that you will never regret being kind! I highly recommend this adorable picture book. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

"B is for Belonging" is a great book that is inclusive and diverse. I found that this book discusses various social skills and words that are thoughtfully explained in a way that students can understand. This is an excellent read-aloud for students to hear and reflect on through classroom discussions! As we prepare for next school year, this would be a great book to read to establish expectations at the beginning of the school year.

What a wonderfully delightful book! You can tell it's written by an ex-educator, as it provides great examples while being at a kids level of understanding. For sure buying for my kids.

“B is for Belonging” is a great way to learn the alphabet with useful lessons about life. It utilizes great examples such as empathy, kindness and love, all while explaining what the complex meanings are to children. It is written at an easy level for children to understand and use of this book from early years could really aid in the development of children.

Fantastic use of inclusivity at its finest, as all types of children are used in the illustrations, such as disability, skin color and even hair types.

It also includes activities to further the lessons with notes to adults in the back.

Great book for the classroom or home library!

As soon as I saw this book, I knew I needed to read it! I love finding new books for my children, and ones that include diversity and inclusion are always ones I am looking for.

Overall, I did like this book. I liked the illustrations and it was written very well. I can tell a lot of thought was put into this book! The only thing I would change, is to include more disability representation. There was two characters who used wheelchairs (which I loved!), but it would have been nice to see more included as well.

This is definitely a book I will be adding to my children’s collection.
