This book was requested when I was young and requested more books than I could possibly read. Sadly, I no longer have access to this book and my tastes have changed. Thus I will not be able to give feedback on this title.

The reader is promised a view of the underside of the Renaissance. Unfortunately, Alexander Lee provides a pedestrian look at the Renaissance in Italy, concentrating on Florence. The author provides a bottom up view of life during the Italian Renaissance rather than the normal top-down view found in most histories. Unfortunately, the title promises more than the author delivers.
