I thought I’d read the first in this series but after reading the book I don’t think I have. I did manage to pick up the story arc. I found the main characters difficult to sympathise with. Ottile was indecisive and unable to commit and Heath was weak willed. The supporting characters were much more interesting and the village community lively and setting beautiful. Some pertinent health service issues are raised.
This is the second book in The village nurse series and a return to the fictionary village of thimbelbery in the lake district and to Otillie the new village nurse.
It carries on with the story of otillie and the community of the village as well as a new doctor to the surgery.
you can read this alone but reading the first one helps you with the story.
i really enjoyed this book as much as the first one.
a really heartwarming story.
The second in the series with the village nurse and I enjoyed the second book as much as the first. Ottilie has settled into village life and also a relationship with Heath. However in the fast pace moving of village life nothing stands still and with the arrival of a locum doctor it’s all change again. Thanks to Tilly and her publisher. Thanks also to NetGalley
This is a nice slow pastiche of village life centred on Ottilie and the comings and goings that centre her life. The details of village life, with everyone knowing everyone’s business, friends just popping in and a real sense of community are all lovely. There are some real characters and with Ottiie being a nurse, I really felt I got to meet all the individuals with their barmy issues. Outline is a bit wet though, and her boyfriend Heath is also on the wet side, they bumble along and don’t really do anything and get cross, or not, over not a lot. I struggled to warm to either of them, it was the village life that kept me reading.
This was a really heartwarming read. Ottilie was such a lovely character. There were many lovely and funnycharacters in the village of Thimblebury. It was a real page turner with all the twists and turns of her relationship with Heath. I loved it.
I absolutely loved this book.
Set in the fictional picturesque village of Thimblebury in the Lake District, I love the location.
This follows on from book 1 but could easily be read as a standalone.
Ottilie is the new nurse at the village medical centre and she is so beautifully caring.
The local patients adore her and keep her busy, even after hours. Her relationship with Heath is in it's early stages, but a few things happen and she sees things from a different angle. Or is it her overactive mind?!
The community feel of the village of is so heartwarming.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the early copy, and this is my honest review.
A sweet, small-town setting, showcasing that not all relationships are perfect, some take time.
The punctuation was a bit messy, another round of edits before publishing will no doubt fix that.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in return for my honest review.
This is the second book in the series.its a continuation of book one. There is a lot melodrama between Heath and Ottilie. Heath really makes himself look like a jerk. Stacey and the new doctor Simon show interest in each other. It’s a good book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
This is the second instalment of this new series although it could be read as a standalone I recommend reading in order for full enjoyment and was great to be back in the lakes and was like coming home to old friends . This series has a real home is where the heart is feel and a lovely community vibe.
This instalment continues with how Ottilie is fitting in with village life and how her relationship with Heath is progressing and what is happening with the rest of the inhabitants of the village in their lives. . It also introduces us to some new characters that have joined the village.
I look forward to the next instalment
Escape to the glittering lakes and pretty stone villages of the Lake District, where warm bright summer evenings are just around the corner, the bees are buzzing in the hedgerows, and village nurse Ottilie Oakcroft is beginning to realise that her second chance at true love isn’t smooth sailing…A very emotional story that will rip your heart.
I was so engrossed in the book where I was not aware until the story end.
Back in the lakes with Otllie and all the familiar faces. A new dishy doctor arrives , will he win the heart of a villager over?
Otillie and Heath continue you to many highs and lows due to Heath’s ex.
Really enjoyed being back in the lakes.
Lovely to be back with Ottilie and the village characters. You just relax into this book. Could read as a one off but better to read book 1. Heath and Ottilie have a lot of baggage and you get it. I love the film club, Stacey , the new doctor. Charles and Fliss were fab characters too . Never mind Heath’s grandmother. Just read it and escape.
It took me a while to get going with this book, but I love Tilly’s other works and once I’d got into it I really enjoyed it. I did spot a word error in chapter 14 where there is a word missing but otherwise no other issues noticed.
I’d definitely recommend this book and the series to others; it’s an easy read with some romance and heartbreak thrown in, and overall very fun.
*Thank you to Netgalley & the publisher for giving me an arc in exchange for an honest review*
I liked seeing the relationship between the Ottolie & Heath, not everything is happily ever after and there can be many disagreements. While I didn’t read the first book (I didn’t know this was the second book), I didn’t feel like I was missing anything super crucial and read this one just fine!
One thing I will say is the punctuation threw me off a bit, but I’m assuming it will be edited before being published so it really isn’t much of a big deal.
Unlike the first book I found this one quiet boring. A ex Heath can't seem to get over and lying, Ottile letting him walk all over her and then dumping him only to take him back. If he lied before he'll do it again.
Disappointing.
Second in the series, we return to Ottolie and Heath as well as the various people of Thimblebury. Overall a good read, definitely suggest reading in order. Th vend felt a bit unsatisfying but I still enjoyed it.
The second book in the series, we are back in the Lakes and with Ottiile the nurse. The story picks up not long after the last book, however there is enough of an explanation of characters and what’s happened that it could be read as a stand alone.
Ottile and Heath are in a relationship and we get to see their ups and downs, with some major twists and turns. Things look almost too good to be true until they are. Ottile can see something wrong but doesn’t know what and when she finds out, it’s a pretty big plot twist and I don’t want to give any spoilers. When she finds out it all blows up and she has a lot of things to wrestle with. I liked seeing her self analyse herself and realise how she always puts others before herself, and how she doesn’t want to the one compromising all the time and so she stands up for herself. It was empowering to read and in places identifiable.
The sec date storyline of Stacey and Simon was really nice, I’m really happy for them both. Such heartache for both of them they deserve happiness and I loved how cautious they both were. I can’t wait to see what comes next for Ottile the village nurse.
Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. I loved the first book in this series so was pleased my request for this ARC was granted. Although I wasn't quite as engaged as the first one, it was delightful to be back in Thimblebury. I really like Otillie and the supporting cast, and I enjoyed the book a lot.
The main storyline was a bit repetitive and similar to the first but I absolutely love all of the characters in this series and love reading about their lives.
