While I thought the section on how to make your own copycat recipes was helpful, there wasn’t much else that felt all that inspiring. Some of the recipes seemed good, but the restaurants are so niche that I wouldn’t know if it tasted like them or not. It really seemed heavily focused on the West. Some recipes seemed sort of not needed to me? There’s so many versions of butterbeer out there already. And others there are official cookbooks for with different recipes than this. Overall was underwhelmed.

Everyone, it seems, has a favorite dish at their local restaurant chain, and most would really like to recreate it at home. Most Requested Copycat Dishes: 100+ Homemade Versions of Your Favorite Restaurant Recipes is an excellent cookbook full of popular dishes from restaurant chains everywhere. This cookbook includes 100 recipes for snacks, appetizers, sauces, main dishes, salads, and desserts, and there is something in this cookbook that will appeal to almost everyone.

The recipes are presented in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow for both advanced and beginning cooks. At the beginning of each recipe the book tells which chain the recipes come from. There is a good variety and there are dozens of chains. I found there were several good dishes, even though I am not a fan of chains and only visit them when I must. Making the dishes at home makes me feel better because I know my ingredients are fresh and don’t have preservatives and junk that you get when actually eating at the chains.

One of the best parts of this cookbook is that most of the recipes include a beautiful, professional photograph of what the finished dish should look like.

I actually love this cookbook because the recipes turn out perfectly, but when preparing them at home, I can change them to fit my personal tastes. I can vary ingredients and add additional ingredients that I think will enhance what I’m making. All told, this is an excellent cookbook with dishes that turn out almost exactly like you’ll be served in chain restaurants.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

These really are just like the actual items! I’ve tried a few so far and they were spot on! So cool. I can’t wait to try even more!

Oh my goodness, I love this new cookbook from Favorite Family Recipes! I’m a huge fan of Panda Express, Zupas, & many of the restaurant copycat recipes featured in this cookbook. I’d buy this just for the orange chicken, chow mein, & tomato basil soup alone!

I loved the beautiful photos accompanying each recipe & found that what I made looked just like the photo, which was very satisfying. The recipes featured are family favorites & tasted just as good if not better than the restaurants we go to. It’ll definitely save us money & I’ll know every ingredient that goes into the food.

Some of the things I enjoy about this cookbook are:

🍽️Colorful illustrations

🍽️Easy to follow, step by step recipes

🍽️Helpful hints to alter the recipe depending on taste & spiciness level.

🍽️Great strategies for creating your own copycat recipes.

There are over 100 recipes ranging from drinks & shakes (shamrock shakes & butter beer) to famous Costa Vida dressing to fabulous main dishes & mouthwatering desserts with everything in between. All of the recipes I tried were easy to follow & produced great results. My family seriously can’t wait for me to experiment with a new restaurant favorite recipe.

Highly recommend! I think this would be great for those with some cooking experience all the way up to experienced cooks. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.

Most Requested Copycat Dishes is precisely as stated on the cover: a well curated collection of family friendly dishes like those from well-known restaurants. Released 1st Oct 2024 by Shadow Mountain, it's 240 pages and is available in paperback and ebook formats.

These are not really the flagship dishes from haute cuisine type restaurants; they're largely casual, family style, comfort/fun foods from chain restaurants which are available over much of North America, specifically the USA. The authors have also included a primer on culinary sleuthing which will help readers to develop their own versions of beloved recipe dishes.

Recipes are arranged thematically: drinks & shakes, breakfast, appetizers & snacks, lunchtime, sauces & dressings, side dishes, main dishes, and desserts. Recipes contain a description, homage "source"/restaurant, prep time, yields, ingredients in a bullet list, and step by step directions in easy to follow language.

Recipe ingredients are listed in imperial (American) units. Most of the ingredients will be easily accessible in any well-stocked grocery store in North America. Many (many) of the recipes utilize specific brands/blends (Ocean Spray White Cran-Strawberry juice, Torani Raspberry syrup, etc) as well as convenience ingredients (frozen veggies, pre-breaded frozen chicken strips, etc). The emphasis is on convenience and speedy prep, which makes many of these perfecly suited to busy family dinner nights or potlucks.

Each chapter heading includes a breakdown of the dishes as well as the restaurants they're from. The authors/publisher have also included a cross referenced index.

The book has standout photography; every dish is accompanied by one or more well styled professional color photographs.

Four and a half stars. It's not a -huge- book (there are 101 recipes included in this collection) but it is very well written and appealing.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

I never pass up a copycat cookbook, especially these days when it is so expensive to eat out. I thought there w we re a lot of interesting recipes in the pages that I can not wait to try. There are a few that habe ingredients I would have never thought of for the dishes they are supposed to taste like, so I can not wait to expirement and see if the recipes actually taste like the dishes they are supposed to. I love that drink recipes are included and I definitely look forward to trying those out.

The title of this book drew me in. I not only like to use recipes in cookbooks but also find some of them interesting to read. Are these recipes truly the "Most Requested Copycat Dishes", as the title states? I would like to know who determined that. The recipes are primarily from chain restaurants, restaurants that are specific to a geographic area or from Disney. Many of the baking recipes are assembly recipes with little baking. There is a photo of every recipe and the layout is easy to access, but definitely not the book for me.

This cookbook is GORGEOUS!!! I fell in love as soon as I saw it. It has lots of delicious copycats, and I’ve tried a few and can tell you how delicious they are. I am definitely a fan and highly recommend this to anyone!

This is an extremely well-done cookbook. The concept is something that I think any American could enjoy with trying to make restaurant favorites at home. I thought the formatting was perfect with a simple list of ingredients, the method, and each recipe having a picture. The ingredients were also items that are either in most pantries already or very easy to obtain. I cannot wait to try some of the dishes. Also I showed it to my mom and she loved it too!

Everyone has their favourite restaurant recipes, and this book has quite a few gems within! There are quite a few familiar recipes, but I was happy to see lesser covered ones like Duke's Hula pie (cause Hawai'i is a long, expensive flight away), Carnival Cruise line's Chocolate melting cake, and even Old Spaghetti Factory's Mizithra pasta! Lots of drinks and breakfast items too, in case you need your IHOP fix. As a Canadian a lot of these restaurants don't operate up here, so it's nice to be able to replicate, or at least come close to some of our favourites!

I received a free ebook copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

We all have favorite places to eat and favorite dishes from those restaurants. It was fun to see what dishes were selected to be included in this cookbook. Some from popular restaurants that most everyone would know about, and some from favorite dining locations of the authors of the cookbook. There are plenty of great recipes in here to please a wide-variety of eaters. Picky or not.

I made the mistake of reading through this one while I was hungry. Haha! Kind of like going to the grocery store when you're hungry and then you want to buy all the things! Except in this case I wanted to try all of the recipes and could taste several of them.

Some of the recipes I have made before, prior to this cookbook being released. And they were very similar to the recipes in the book. I liked the pictures that accompanied each recipe. And I liked how simple the instructions were to help any level of cook. And another thing that I really liked was the extra tips and ideas for making the recipe or making variations to the recipe.

There were also great tips about spices and seasonings and how they pair together. And other tips included in the cookbook. I thought it was very well put together and helpful in the ideas for making it your own. As well as if there aren't copycat recipes in here that you were hoping for, there are tips for you in how to go about figuring out what ingredients and how dishes are made.

This is one that I think most people could easily enjoy, from beginner to advanced cook/baker.

I received a copy from the publisher, Shadow Mountain Publishing, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading & Cooking!!!

They will make you want to try every single recipe. I sure do. I have already found my favorites. I was so excited for the Homemade Butterbeen inspired by Harry Potter, Copycat Shamrock Shake inspired by McDonald’s and the SLiders inspired by White Castle. This is just the beginning. The perfect gift for the at-home foodie fan in your life. I can’t wait to share with my family. Possibilities are endless.

This is a beautiful cookbook. The pictures with each recipe look very appetizing and enticing. The recipes are simple and easy to follow. There are recipes from fast food takeout like Wendy’s, Café Rio, McDonald’s… Restaurants, as in Applebee’s, Olive Garden, and chili’s. There are even some from Starbucks and Disney theme parks, I was surprised they did not have the Dole Whip recipe. Many of the recipes you can find on the Internet, but it’s nice to have them all in one spot and it really looks good. I have had the opportunity to try some of the recipes and look forward to making more. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I enjoyed this book - extremely generous amount of recipes, which have obviously taken a long time to perfect. Also, stunning photography, which made the food look so appealing. While I had fun reading this (I was hooked in at the mention of Disney and Starbucks recipes!), it is definitely suited to North American readers, who'd regularly eat at the restaurants listed and have easy access to all ingredients. A perfect cookbook for those who want their fave restaurant food on a budget, in the comfort of their own home!

The cookbook leads with “Top Ten Tips for Creating your own Copycat Recipes.” which is a deep dive into solid advice to help you develop your own copycat recipes. I felt as if I was being accepted into a secret society of copycatters. There’s some fantastic stuff here; don’t skip it!

And there’s no skimping on recipes, either. There’s 101 of them and all are marvelously photographed. I found the “Lunchtime” section to be the most tempting. I’ll admit it, I love me some Arby’s, so I want to try the Arby’s beef and cheddar recipe, along with the Arby’s sauce – both with my own extra modifications to drive down the sodium and sugar.

Everyone has their own reasons for wanting to duplicate restaurant food at home. Some enjoy the challenge. Some don’t live within easy reach of a favorite restaurant. Some are trying to keep the cost down. And some, like me, need to eliminate as much sodium and processed sugar as possible. I’m always on the lookout for fun foods we can make without blowing up our diets. Cooking from scratch means I can easily leave out the salt, and I can swap out the sugar for one of the many excellent substitutes now available to us.

Subway’s “Homemade Footlong Bread” is definitely on my to-try list. Recently I’ve been attempting a copycat recipe for Jimmy John’s sub buns. We miss our Jimmy John’s fix. I haven’t yet found a recipe that works for us yet, though – maybe we should be looking at this Subway bread solution.

Now, confess. Let’s see a raise of hands from everyone who was hoping and praying for a copycat McDonald’s Shamrock Shake. You’re in luck – it’s here!

My thanks to Favorite Family Recipes, Shadow Mountain Publishing, and NetGalley for allowing me to read a digital advance review copy of this book. This review is my honest and unbiased opinion.
