Such a well-structured cookbook! The introduction is awesome and very thorough. Offering insights on how to create your own copycat recipes with tips and tricks on how to go about deciphering ingredients, etc. The book is organized as well into the standard categories (beverages, appetizers, soups, and so on). Every single recipe includes a full-page color photo and very well-written, easy-to-understand, detailed instructions. Most recipes are on a 2-page spread, but there are a few that span onto 3 pages. The ingredients in even recipe are, for the most part, common and easy to find. There are substitutions listed for some maybe less common ingredients but also tips on where to track them down. Notes are included on most recipes for any tips that might help with making/preparing/storing/etc. each recipe. The index is also organized by ingredient, recipe title, and also the restaurants/places each copycat is from. I haven't had a chance to make any of the recipes from this book, but reading through every recipe, they all seem very straight-forward to make, though probably for more intermediate to advanced cooks with several being great for beginner cooks. The included copycat recipes range from Disney to national chains to more localized places and some that I have never even heard of that must be local only to Idaho. One downside that I did notice is that there is no nutritional info available for any of the recipes. While that's not a huge detriment, for those who track macros or who have allergies/dietary needs, they will need to research that information themselves or make adjustments/substitutions accordingly. I received a digital review copy of this book, but I look forward to seeing a hard copy once it is published and would love to purchase it for myself or for gifts and then have a chance to re-create some of my favorites dishes/meals/treats included in this fun book!
I must be honest. Several recipes from my favourite restaurants were earmarked to try. Before I got around to testing them, my nephew snatched it and took it off to college with him. He swears by it now claiming it is making him many new friends this year. He is promising to cook for me if I visit and,if I do, could I please buy him air fryer along the way. Kids!😀
I really enjoyed looking through this cookbook and although I have only tried one recipe so far I am excited to try more and loved the butterbeer. There were a lot of copycat recipes from restaurants that I am familiar with as well as some that I have never heard of. However, for me not knowing some of the restaurants was okay, I still like to try things that are new to me!
I loved that each recipe had a picture with it. I am very visual and prefer any cookbook with images for each recipe! They were nice photos as well. The recipes were laid out nicely on the page and easy to scan and read which is also nice. I've looked at some recipes books in my kindle before that were awful to look at so that was appreciated!
I can't wait to try more of the recipes in this book!
This book is less personal than most that I usually go for (I love little stories that people add into their recipes). I think that's a given considering the type of book it's being and that it's written by a group rather than a single person (although they are a family it seems?). I'm skeptical on a few of these recipes being copycats, like the Chik Fil A one for frosted lemonade seems like it wouldn't have enough flavor and the ratios are off, but I haven't tried it yet to know. I've made butterbeer as well but that recipe does seem a little closer to realistic. The food looks so good in the pictures that there are a few recipes I do want to try. I also was pleasantly surprised to discover some new restaurants in here than the typical ones i would expect for copycat recipes. Overall, if someone I knew was always trying to replicate dishes at home I would probably give this as a gift to them!
Most Requested Copycat Dishes has over 100 recipes that are copycats of "famous" recipes. A lot of the recipes are dupes for foods offered in Utah or the western part of the US and I was not familiar with them. There were a couple that sounded interesting and I will try, but have no reference point so it will just be whether or not they are good. There are some recipes I had heard of from more major chains, but really there weren't any that were my favorites from the restaurants. I also wasn't a big fan of the ingredient lists - I know restaurant foods are generally not very healthy, but I think that one of the benefits of making them at home is substituting healthier ingredients to make them slightly better for you. The ingredient list often had pre-made items and I think it would be beneficial to make them yourself.
I think a lot of people will enjoy this cookbook to get a copycat of favorites. The book also gives advice on figuring out copycats for your personal fav dishes when eating out. This could be useful for those who enjoy experimenting.
I always like to read through new cookbooks hoping for some recipes that will work with my dietary restrictions. Some recipes in this book are dairy free and at least one was written to use a plant based milk instead of dairy. I don't see that very often unless it is a dairy free book.
The pictures looked yummy. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet. And I noted that many of these are not something I've eaten in the restaurant they were adapted from so I wouldn't be able to state if it is a good copycat or not anyway. But there are some that I would like to try.
While recipes were good I had higher hopes for more popular chain recipes. I have not hear of half the places and they were recipes i could find anywhere. So this was mildly disappointing
"Most Requested Copycat Dishes" is a fun and relevant cookbook that consists of Drinks, Breakfast, Lunch, Sauce/Dressing, Side Dishes, Main Dishes, and Dessert. Each category offers fun and interesting recipes.
I live in a heavily populated suburb with lots of things to do and see, so naturally I have a lot of the restaurants that are in the book. I see a few that I have never heard of, but all of the recipes are quite simple and easy to make with basic staple ingredients. Not to mention they sound delicious! Every recipe comes with a beautiful photo, so even if it's a dish you have never tried before, you know what the end result should look like. Don't we eat with eyes, really! This book is perfectly geared for beginner cook and/or college kids. I'd definitely gift this to my friends and striving novice cooks!
I really enjoyed this cookbook! The pictures were very crisp and looked a lot like what I ended with when I completed the recipes. The text was well organized and descriptive which helps when you know what you want it to be in the end. I would love to buy this in the physical form.
A great cookbook showing you how to make your restaurant favourites at home. The recipes are nicely set out and easy to follow and I am excited to try these out at home
Who doesn't live to be able to recreate their favorite recipes from their favorite restaurants? This book will appeal to home cooks who are eager to have their favorite meals anytime. The recipes look tasty and there are even some Disney and Universal Parks recipes inside. One caveat, there seems to be a great deal of Tex-Mex inspired recipes, so if that is not a favorite cuisine, the reader may choose to skip them.
I literally devoured this book! I couldn’t bookmark recipes to try them out with my family fast enough. As a person who does not go out to eat very often, I have been a huge fan of copy cat recipes for years. Big winners for me so far have been the Homemade Frosty, Egg Bites, Guacamole, Lettuce Wraps, Zuppa Toscana, Cilantro Lime Rice, and Mushroom Chicken. The directions are clear, ingredients are accessible, and each recipe is paired with at least one photo. I am excited to try more dishes as this will be a book I will purchase for my collection. Many thanks to NetGalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing for the advance copy. All opinions are my own.
Do you want the best copycat recipes from Panda Express, Starbucks, McDonalds and Disneyland?
Look no further, not only will you get them but you will also learn how you can get more delicious recipes by yourself and try them out and compare them to your food?
You will enjoy making Homemade Butterbeer, Homemade Frosty, Egg McMuffins and A Beef N Chedder like Arby's!
The recipes are easy to follow and make and your family will be thrilled at your creations!
What a great cookbook! So many yummy and enticing recipes. Great illustrations that make you want to eat every single recipe and easy to follow instructions.
Just the cookbook I have been looking for! If you want copycat recipes from places like Olive Garden, Chick-fil-A, Starbucks and more, this book is for you! I can't wait to purchase for myself. Thanks for the early read!
"Most Requested Copycat Dishes" is a great recipe book, even though we don't have most of the chains featured in it here in the UK. That didn't stop me from enjoying it! The recipes are easy to follow, and it's a brilliant way to recreate popular dishes and drinks at home without spending loads at the restaurant.
I looked this over and there were a number of food chain recipe clones I did not have access to in my city. I am in a small town in Iowa.
But I was able to compare a few other dishes and am happy to say that those are spot on to the real thing. The Wendy’s chili is very close to the same. Starbucks drinks ditto.. sugar cookies too.
Did not have more time to test dishes but the selection in this book is very good and even if they don’t taste exactly the same as the FAMOUS dish, the dishes look very tasty!
I would recommend this book. Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for allowing me this ARC.
I liked looking through this cookbook. The beginning has some tips on how you can come up with your own copycat dishes. I thought that was interesting, and I have found myself following some of those tips when going to a restaurant.
There is a variety of different types of recipes and from different eateries. I was not familiar with all of the restaurants listed, but thought that the recipes picked sounded good.
I could see myself using this cookbook to save some money and recreate dishes for my family. I think that each recipe included a photo. That is very important to me. Most of them seemed simple to make and had easy to follow directions.
Many thanks to Shadow Mountain Publishing and Netgalley for the opportunity to view this cookbook. I'm happy to leave an honest review.
Yes! Finally! The cookbook everyone asked for! In a time where communities are pinching pennies, eating out is just not in the budget. This book is helpful to all those who are trying to eat healthier, cook from home, and save some money. I’m all for it.
I am from the Utah/Idaho area and hold most of these restaurants (even the ones you’ve never heard of) dear to my heart. I feel like copycat recipes you find online are never, or rarely, identical to the real thing. And these ladies must have taken some serious time cultivating these because I can say, at least for a couple of these recipes, that they are almost completely identical!
You will find everything from sauces, to entrees, drinks, and desserts, and I can tell you now, I don’t think a single one will disappoint. Love this recipe book! Definitely will purchase it when it comes out.
This cookbook is relevant now than any other time. With restaurant prices soaring this gives the family a chance to experience food from their favorite restaurants in the comfort of their homes. Mixing and matching a menu from several restaurants in one setting without having to travel or have the expense for a family. From beverages, appetizers, sauces and main meals don't forget desserts, this cookbook has vivid photos and a recipe that will come close or even better than the restaurant. A wonderful way to experience a variety of foods/cuisines while building family time. Thank you to Netgalley, the authors and publisher for the opportunity. Now off to try some of these.
