Draco Waring, Earl of Woodley hosts a masquerade ball to introduce himself to the residents of Moonstone Landing. He’s recently renovated Peacock Hall & renamed it Woodley Lodge. Lady Imogen Stockwell, attends in a butterfly costume & is immediately smitten with Draco as is Draco with her. Then Draco’s dog Parrot alerts him that something is wrong & a young nobleman is found murdered on the estate’s beach. Imogen is determined to solve the murder as well as figure out Draco’s involvement in it, if any.
Another very well written romance, the characters have depth, the chemistry between Draco & Imogen sizzles, there’s intrigue, murder, smugglers & a loveable dog called Parrot. I read this engrossing novel in two sittings & loved it. I loved both Draco & Imogen, he’s a newly minted Earl who was once a privateer & has been tasked with foiling a plot to harm the monarchy, he’s not ready to marry until he meets his butterfly then he becomes protective & quickly learns women have brains & can use them. Imogen is a delight a mix of innocence & intelligence plus she’s a talented artist. The pace is good & never lags, I found myself drawn in from the start & breathed a happy sigh at the end
The Moonstone Pirate by Meara Platt is the newest entry into this charming series which takes place in Cornwall. Yes, it is a romance. It is all about true love and the moonstones in the bay which will conform that love by shining in the night when love appears on a full moon. The heroine is Imogen, the second of Cormac’s nieces, which have appeared in several earlier books. She and her aunt and uncle to go a costume ball hosted by the earl who had purchased a wreck of a house near Moonstone Landing, and refurbished it. This was to be his introduction to the local gentry. Imogen was dressed as a butterfly and was utterly enchanting, as confirmed by several young men in attendance. Not all had honorable intentions toward her. One of the gentlemen enchanted by her was the Earl of Woodley, himself, Draco Waring. Draco had recently inherited the earldom. He had earlier been a privateer, in service to the queen. In plain fact, he was still in service to the queen as he was working to uncover a rebel plot against the monarchy that was being fueled by smugglers of weapons, who would be using the cave on his property to had the weapons off to rebels.
Meara Platt always writes the best books. They are light-hearted, no matter what the core topic. Her heroines believe in love and seem to convince those around them to believe also. Imogen is such a heroine. She is young, but she is also young at heart. Do not mistake that for stupid or naive, because those things she is not. She wants to help. Draco wants her protected. The two desires do not mesh very well. It is a fun read watching each of them trying to stay out of the way of the other while chasing their own ends. It is a feel-good read that is the latest in this series of feel-good reads. Thanks, Meara Platt!
I was invited to read The Moonstone Pirate by Dragonblade. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #MearaPlatt #TheMoonstonePirate
This book is a treasure trove of romance, adventure, and mystery that captivated me from the first page to the last. Set against the backdrop of the enchanting Moonstone Landing, the story tells the tale of the dashing Draco Waring, Earl of Woodley, and the spirited Lady Imogen Stockwell. Draco, a man with a mysterious past and a penchant for avoiding the marriage market, finds himself entangled in a web of intrigue and danger. His neighbor, Lady Imogen, is convinced he’s a pirate, and her suspicions only deepen when a murder occurs during a masquerade ball at his estate. As she delves into the mystery, their paths intertwine, leading to steamy encounters and a romance that defies expectations.
The author's writing is nothing short of brilliant, spinning a yarn that's as exhilarating as it is tender. Her leading men are the cream of the Regency crop—noble yet naughty, and irresistibly susceptible to their leading ladies' allure. Lady Imogen shines as a heroine, her savvy and gumption making her Draco's ideal counterpoint. Readers will get all the signature Platt perks: a steamy duo, a gripping narrative, and a love tale that glides right into your affections. For aficionados of historical romances, this book is a dazzling jewel in the Moonstone Landing crown. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
So I didn't realize that this was the last book in the series so I was really glad it's like a standalone series. I didn't read the other books yet but everything made sense and really enjoyed reading this.
A ball, smuggling, a murder, a pirate and a girl. What more can you ask for in story. Part of the engaging Moonstone series, this story brings Draco and Imogene together. There's a lot of banter between the two which has moments of humor. She's got an imagination and is young. He's a bit pompous. Not necessarily an instant match but one that is entertaining to see come together. Well written and worth following if you haven't read any of the series yet.
A wonderful romance, charming characters and the beautiful and idyllic village of Moonstone Landing. Draco and Imogen are not an obvious pairing but they are perfection and true love blossoms. I enjoyed their connection and banter, the danger and secrets aplenty and making their way to a delightful happily ever after.
A return to the fun and gorgeous place called Moonstone Landing.
Draco is a new Earl and hosts a welcoming masquerade party at his new estate.
Imogen attends dressed as a Butterfly and the chemistry between the two starts with their first encounter.
Draco is busy with his obligations and investigations but Imogen tears at his heart.
Adventure, romance, dangerous encounters fill this story with action.
Easily read as a standalone but so much better with knowing characters from past books and the large family named Angels.
Read it in one night, it’s that good.
What a WILD ride this story is! Draco is a newly minted Earl, but has one more job to finish before he can leave that privateer life behind. Imogen is an almost debutante who loves to sketch everything she sees. The journey they travel is filled with excitement, a roller coaster ride of emotions and antics galore! Parrot is sooooo very adorable and is a character himself! I loved how Imogen manages to find trouble wherever she goes and Draco spends a lot of time saving her! Just to confuse things, the author adds a side dilemma that seems to have nothing to do with the case Draco is working on, but it fit in nicely in the end! Would have loved to have seen the Rebel leader get caught on page, but , still a wonderful story! Delightful in every way!
I received this story for free and these are my own opinions
Pirates and a murder...
There's a murder at a ball that Draco Waring threw. He's an earl with a history of spying, not pirating. But that's not what Imogen Stockwell thinks. she thinks he's a pirate and that she's going to solve this murder. Not sure where she gets her ideas from? But its Meara Platt.
The Earl and his Butterfly
Draco and Imogen first meet at a masquerade ball, where he is a pirate and she a butterfly. Despite not being able to see the other’s face both fall deeply for each other, though Draco, like a typical man, is loath to put a label on his feelings. He is already up to his eyes in a secret and dangerous mission for the Crown and the last thing he needs is protective feelings for an inquisitive young woman who seems incapable of following his orders.
Another fabulous story in the Moonstone Landing series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Imogen is a pretty, yet immature, girl who immediately falls in love with Draco. Drago is in Moonstone to try and trap people smuggling guns for a plot against the crown. They work together to solve the case. I found Imogen to be silly at times, and Draco to be condescending. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.
