I really enjoyed this one, maybe more than I should’ve. It was like one of those reality shows you can’t get enough off and others don’t understand why. It was a cute, wholesome story about second chance romance.
After Molly's boyfriend breaks up with her for a reality dating show, she decides to join the show as well in an effort to win him back. However, she finds another one of her exes is a contestant as well and it brings back all kinds of feelings. The premise of the show is to date other singles for four weeks before ending up at the altar. While Molly came to the show to win back her recent boyfriend, will someone from her last capture her heart?
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for sending me this arc! I did enjoy this book which is why I gave it 3.75 stars, but it did start off slow and I was slightly bored for the first 30% to 35% but it did pick up after that! I loved how it was set in the UK as most books happen in the US. I do want to reread this book once it is published, and I do recommend this book if you like reality shows!
Tropes:
- Reality TV
- Second Chance
I just loved this book so much that I read it in one sitting! The characters in this book are just so good, first of Molly who is an absolute sweetheart but people leave her. There is Ben who just so happens to be one of those people but who happens to have his reasons. The other girls included in the dating show and some of the other men as well are absolute hoots, apart from Duncan who also left Molly and Jasmine who is partnered with Duncan they are well suited to each other as neither of them are very nice. The production team are absolute hoots as well as they keep popping up here and there. One of them is Rachel who is actually Ben’s sister she is trying to help Ben find love and get over his ex who died but also try and make Ben see that he did everything he could to help his ex.
This book is so heartwarming and feel good you won’t be able to help yourself laughing as they have different tasks to do with their partners which are to help them get to know each other and to help them to learn to trust their partners and to work together.
I would highly recommend this book as it’s just so heartwarming and there are ups and downs in life but it’s how you deal with them together with each other.
I would also like to thank One More Chapter and NetGalley for giving me this opportunity to read and review this book early.
I really wanted to love this novel and whilst the premise was good, it just wasn’t for me. I found it overly long and quite slow going in places. Parts were very predictable and I didn’t really gel with any of the characters. I know others loved it, but I would only rate it 2.5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley, Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter and the author for the chance to review.
Loved the storyline! Such a warming, cute romance!
The plot kept me guessing!
Can't wait to read more.from this author.
Thank You, Next by Kathryn Freeman is the reality show love story I never knew I needed! When Molly’s boyfriend breaks up with her to go on their favourite dating show, The One, she certainly doesn’t expect to follow him into the show and come face-to-face with another ex who broke her heart. This is a heartfelt novel exploring when the right person, who you had previously met at the wrong time, comes back into your life in the most unexpected way! I really loved this, Molly and Ben were such interesting characters and I loved seeing them fall in love again. Thank you to NetGalley, HarperCollins UK and One More Chapter for the ARC!
I've never read a book with the characters in a reality dating show and I enjoyed that aspect a lot. I think the characters were relatable and funny and would recommend this to anyone that likes reality dating shows because it reads like a reality dating show which I loved. This book releases June 30th!
I also enjoyed the author's writing and would definitely read her other books in the future.
Thank you NetGalley, HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter, and Kathryn Freeman for this ARC!
This book had everything in it to make it a five star read. It had a well developed plot and an intriguing set up. But the characters fell flat for me. A lot of them read young and immature, it really took away from everything else that was better about this book.
I am a huge fan of reality tv books, dating show books, game show books, etc, so I was excited when I got approved for this ARC. Unfortunately, this book was far from what I expected. I expected a fun read, but this book was far from fun. It was very long and drawn out, and pretty boring. The entire read felt flat and lacking, with much of it feeling irrelevant. I did not enjoy the characters, I did not enjoy the uneventful plot, and the steamy moments were more of a cringe than hot. 2 stars.
Thank you NetGalley, HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter, and Kathryn Freeman for this ARC.
This is the perfect book for someone who loves reality TV like Big Brother, The Bachelor, etc. I look forward to recommending this to customers once it’s released!
This book was very predictable to me and I had a hard time wanting to keep reading it. I did finish it though and of course it ended just how I expected.
This was a really fun twist on romance, reality dating show tropes and general all around fun! I enjoyed the chase, The One, the characters and the banter.

If you are a fan of reality. tv shows, this book is definitely for you. I found this book to be fun, witty, and just the right amount of slow burn and banter between the characters. Loved it so much from the first page that I finished it in one day. Totally fun, light, beach read.❤️
Thank you to Netgalley and publisher for an arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

Rating: Not for me
I really enjoyed Freeman’s previous book “Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner” so when I saw this one, I figured I would request it.
Unfortunately, I really struggled to connect to the story and found the writing to have a lot of “telling” me than showing me.
2.5/5 stars
I wanted to love this book so badly. I was so excited to get an ARC of it because I’m in the middle of reading another book by this author (Was it Good For You?) and loving that book. Additionally, I used to be a weekly watcher of the Bachelor, so I thought this book would be a perfect fit for me. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
I’m not really sure there’s anything specifically wrong with this book. I just didn’t feel particularly swoony over Duncan OR Ben. I didn’t find either character compelling and it made it hard for me to be interested or invested in what Molly did.
If the premise of this book appeals to you or you’ve enjoyed other books by the author, I still really recommend giving this one a shot. It just wasn’t a fit for me. I finished it, but it was a struggle for me.

Thank you next was a decent story. I liked that the author wanted to use the premise of a dating show and took inspiration from shows that a lot of people are familiar with like, love is blind, married at first sight, and love island. Because of the similarities between the book and the TV shows, the story itself kind of lacked a spark. It was almost like a retelling of a season of one of those shows. It just wasn’t as entertaining to me as a fan of those shows, she used as inspiration. The characters were OK. I didn’t really connect with anyone of them. I got pretty annoyed with Ben though through out the story. His unwillingness to actually communicate even though everyone tells him like he needs to be better, and he just didn’t really try was a little annoying. Duncan was a douche and honestly shouldn’t have gotten as much time in the story as he did. I kind of wish that Molly would’ve went in to the show as wanting revenge on Duncan for breaking up with her, however that wasn’t the case. The story really lacked drama. I feel like when the plot is centered around a reality show it needs drama that all really good reality shows have. The only drama that this really had was learning about Ben’s hesitation with marriage and him just really not being as open, communicating his feelings to Molly to secure her in their relationship outside of that there’s no drama at all. Unfortunately the story just came off a little bland, but had potential to be a really really good story. If some things were just better ask executed.
I really liked the concept of dating in a reality dating show and having the twist of there being your ex in there, who you coincidentally get paired with as your supposed ‘perfect match’. However, I was not a fan of there being two of her exes and it making a love triangle that went on for sooooo long. I knew from the description this was the case going in, but even after the progress Molly and Ben had made to move on from things and admit they were both IN LOVE, she was still somehow thinking of choosing Duncan. And as a character I despised Duncan, which is hopefully the intended outcome of how he was written, but my god every time he was even mentioned after half way through I wanted to put the book down. It always came back to him, even when it shouldn’t have.
Because of how her thoughts kept being thrown back to Duncan it felt so repetitive, and the disagreements Molly and Ben became so irritating. Ben says something that Molly doesn’t agree with so Molly brings up how he left her, AGAIN. Molly says something and Ben says the wrong thing or gets stuck in his head and all he does is sigh, AGAIN. That’s a bit how it felt.
I understand Ben’s character is based on him not being able to communicate but there really was so much more I would have liked in their development. I don’t think it helped that it’s in third person either though, as you couldn’t really feel as connected to them and what they were really feeling.
I would’ve liked to be privy to more of their small moments here and there from their own first person perspectives. Especially as it’s a second chance romance, I would’ve LOVED to see some throwback moments to when they were together before, it was talked about briefly but a timeline throwback will also build that relationship further with the reader, in my opinion.
However, all this aside, it did make for a quick, easy, light romance. And I gave it two stars because I enjoyed the increased tension between Molly and Ben and think they were a super cute pairing, who just needed to figure shit out. And they got there in the end.
2.5/5
I will admit that I am not a fan of the dating shows depicted in this book but I still went into this with an open mind as I enjoyed Freeman's other book, The Beach Reads Book Club.
Overall, I found this an easy read but I didn't feel very invested. The 3rd party narration felt off to me and the flow and rhythm of the writing felt forced at certain points - it might have been better to have a 1st person narrative and alternate between the two main characters.
I didn't really connect with the characters to be honest and just felt like I didn't get to a stage where I was very invested in them or the story.
It's very predictable, which is fine, usually you pick up this kind of book because you're looking for something that's light, easy and predictable.
I think this book definitely has a spot on the summer reading list, especially for those who like dating shows like Love Island etc. It's worth a read if you're looking for something light and easy.
