Two Mothers by Kathryn Croft was another excellent and gripping psychological thriller, from the very first few pages till the very end. It was fun of brilliant twists and turns throughout that had me sitting in the edge of my seat. I could not turn the pages over quick enough to find out what happens next. This was a book I found hard to put down and I loved it. Especially the ending!
I highly recommend this book - a great holiday read.
Big thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for my ARC.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for gifting me a digital ARC of the latest thriller by Kathryn Croft. All opinions expressed in this review are my own - 4 stars!
Rachel and Holly are best friends, both mothers to young daughters who are also close. When Rachel's daughter, Evie, dies in a terrible accident, Rachel shares her grief. But then Holly's daughter, Luna, goes missing. She is eventually returned physically unharmed but not able to verbalize what happened. Fingers point to Rachel because of some of her actions, but Holly is convinced she's not responsible. Then Rachel goes missing.
Kathryn Croft always delivers a suspenseful book that is tough to put down until you know how all the pieces will play out. This book is no exception, plus it deals with the subject of grief and how it affects relationships. Both of these mothers were strong characters and put their children first. There's lots going on here and plenty of characters you will find yourself questioning, along with some twists and turns you won't see coming.
Lots of twists, great plot, quick read, a page turner — this book caught my attention from the start. If you love
This book follows Rachel and Holly - two mothers. Rachel’s live changes when her daughter dies unexpectedly. Holly and Rachel’s relationship fades until Holly’s daughter, Luna, goes missing. Rachel wants to help find Luna — until Rachel goes missing, too. Who took Luna and what happened to Rachel? This book kept me on my toes wondering who took Luna and what happened to Rachel. I did not see the ending coming. This was my first book by this author, and I will definitely be checking out more of her work.
Two Mothers throws a lot at a reader.
Two women, one who has already lost her daughter, but who has a lot of secrets, and another whose daughter is returned but who is tracking down all,the lies and deceit.
With every page that I turned someone was lying or trying to hide something.
One husband is a serial abuser and the other is a lying cheat.
I liked Holly but had some issues with her, but I did t like Rachel.
It’s a twisty kept me flipping pages to see what happened kind of book.
Two mothers is an exhilarating thriller, with a captivating cast of characters and an unbelievable twist.
You will not want to put this down.
Rachel James lost her daughter, Evie, unexpectedly in a tragic accident a year ago. She’s tried to cope with the immense grief, and be there for her son, but the only thing seems to help is spending time with Luna, her best friend’s daughter. But when Rachel’s involvement with Luna and persistence in seeing her becomes an obsession, how far will she go to get her daughter back?
Holly Fisher is a journalist, wife, and mother to Luna. When Luna is kidnapped in the middle of the night, Holly will not rest until Luna is home. But when Luna is found in the middle of nowhere, seemingly unharmed, it raises more and more questions and Holly will stop at nothing to get answers.
I physically do not have words for how absolutely insane this book was.
I was completely captivated from the moment I read the first line. No one is who you think they are and everyone is hiding something.
Huge thanks to the author, Kathryn Croft, NetGalley, and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review.
A gripping read told in two points of view, both mothers. With a missing child everyone is suspect but the real culprit is not who you think it is!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!
"Two Mothers" was a gripping, page-turning novel that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was fast-paced, featuring compelling characters in whom I was deeply invested.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.
Official rating is 3.5 stars.
Overall this was a pretty good read. The beginning was a bit slow but by about 25% it really picked up and I was hooked. The end was unfortunately not great for me. Make no mistake there is definitely a twist, I just didn't love it. With all that being said I would still totally recommend this book. The writing is fantastic and it was still a fun read.
An amazing book that was gripping from the beginning. This was my first book by Kathryn and I will definitely be seeking out more from this author. The book was full of twists and kept me on the edge of my seat guessing. This is one of those books, where you think so badly that you have sussed it, and then the next plot twist comes and slaps you in the face. It was very compelling book and I could not put it down!
“Two Mothers” by author Kathryn Croft is a heart-wrenching and gripping psychological thriller that explores the depths of grief, the bonds of friendship. Holly and Rachel are best friends and as close as can be so when Rachel’s daughter tragically dies they both share utter pain. A year later Rachel finds solace in being close to Holly’s daughter, Luna.
When Luna is abducted from her bed in the middle of the night. Rachel tries to comfort Holly, assuring her that Luna will be found. Thankfully Luna is discovered two days later unharmed but the traumatic experience leaves Holly feeling shell shocked.
Rachel disappears and the discovery of Luna’s cuddly lamb in Rachel’s house leaves Holly wondering what is really going on around her. Doubts about her friend, was she behind the abduction or is someone else manipulating the situation to frame Rachel.
Lots of twists and turns, fast paced and full of suspense but for me something didn’t quite work. That said I did enjoy it and would certainly still recommend it to readers of Psychological thrillers.
I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
Rachel and Holly are best friends with daughters the same age until tragedy strikes. Right after this tragedy, Rachel goes missing. The book is told in parts by Holly now and in the past and by Rachel now and in the past. I felt like this book dragged a little and then it seemed to be rushed at the very end. I also felt like the twists were a little far fetched and took away from the storyline. I normally enjoy books by this author but this one was just okay for me. I will still try again with her next book.
I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it.
This book was a ride. It made me angry, scared, sad and towards the end, it made me cry. Even though I feel it could have been a few pages shorter, I loved this book. This is my first from Kathryn Croft, and safe to say, I have become a fan!
This is one of those lovely page turning thrillers I like. I LOVE a good book with a hateable husband. I don't want to reveal anything and spoil this but absolutely read this if you like strong women and hate husbands.
This book is literally frightening. It's every mother's worst nightmare. Honestly my heart was pounding throughout. I was so scared what was going to happen next and rightly so as it was jam packed with twists you don't see coming at all. My jaw was on the floor so many times I couldn't believe it.
You will not be able to put this down and it is a book you will read in a matter of hours as you need to know what is going to happen.
I am a big fan of Kathryn Croft so I was thrilled for the opportunity to read and review Two Mothers by Croft.
This book is absolutely amazing! In true Kathryn Croft fashion there are lots of twists and turns that will keep you guessing what is going to happen next.
Croft never fails to disappoint once again she delivers another well crafted novel that builds up the suspense to a fantastic ending.
Thank You NetGalley and Bookouture for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
Wow!! Thank you so much Netgalley, Kathryn Croft and Bookouture for the ebook. This book did not disappoint! Kathryn is the queen of thrillers. She truly knows how to tell a story and just has you up all night trying to get to the bottom of it all. I loved this story and all the plot twists that I probably would never have guessed!
Gripping, shocking, twist filled, and dramatic! Woohoo! This book kept me on my toes and turning the pages. I did not want to put this book down! Just when I thought I knew where Kathryn Croft was taking this book, she threw in another twist that left me surprised and wanting more.
Rachel and Holly are best friends and mothers. Their daughters are best friends as well. After Rachel's daughter dies, she still enjoyed spending time with Holly and her daughter. Then one day Holly's daughter goes missing but is eventually found. Everyone is relieved but then Rachel’s husband reports Rachel is missing...
This book grabbed my attention from the very first page and did not let go. I was fully invested in learning who took Holly's daughter and what happened to Rachel. There is a lot going on in this book, but it never feels bogged down. I found this book to be wonderfully written and well thought out. It has a nice amount of tension, dread, and suspense as well. I loved how everything came together in the end! Katheryn Croft always delivers an addictive and shocking read!
Holly and Rachel are best friends and mothers, Rachel’s world is torn apart when Evie dies tragically. Their friendship is put to the test, Holly wants to support her friend however she feels guilty and awkward having her daughter Luna meeting milestones that sadly Evie never will.
The story is told Dual POV/past & present which I felt really added to the story and definitely the tension when it begins to build after Hollys daughter is kidnapped, Rachel is beside herself and will do anything to help get her back.
As the story progresses Holly can’t help but wonder is if Rachel was involved especially when Rachel herself disappears the day Luna is found.
The author really did a fantastic job of portraying the grief Rachel was going through plus Holly’s navigating through the disappearance of Luna and then her best friend.
I must admit didn’t see the ending coming at all 😮
Thank you NetGalley, the Kathryn Croft and the Bookouture for this ARC, all opinions expressed are my own.
TWO MOTHERS is a story I won't soon forget. I did feel bad for both Holly and Rachel. I thought the author did an excellent job on the pacing of this story and the mystery of it as well. You can easily read this one in a day. It's definitely a hard one to put down. Overall, TWO MOTHERS is a book I can highly recommend to thriller fans!
Many thanks to NetGalley and BOOKOUTURE for my gifted copy.
