Thrilling book!
The writing style is different and a bit lengthy at times, but the author gets her point across and you just don't see the ending coming! What a huge twist towards the end!
It's a story about two friends that have daughters of similar age. One loses her baby in a tragic accident and the other is suspicious of her friend's affections towards her baby. Things get complicated when the other baby goes missing!
It's a slow start but things get unraveled and the tempo of the book picks up. Overall, this book is a rollercoaster of emotions and twists that will leave you thinking long after you've finished reading. It's a must-read for anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers with unexpected plot twists. Highly recommend!
Thank you NetGalley and the publishing company for my free ARC book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This author has a way of making you feel like you are a character in the book and I cold not put it down. Just enough suspense and thrills in the book. Highly recommend.
Oh my goodness, I couldn't put thus brilliant book down it was so twisty and creepy. Highly recommend this one. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
Right from the start this book has me emotional and wanting to know what would happen next.
The plot is full of many twists and turns, but still felt slow at many points. Despite all of the twists it lead to an unfortunately lacking conclusion. I feel many aspects were left unresolved.
Holly is definitely the friend we all want in our lives. No matter what she faces, she remains supportive of Rachel.
Each chapter gives you just enough clues that you think you’ve solved what’s going on, only for something else to come along and make everything appears different. It's almost like a tedious game of Cluedo.
However, I will say that Two Mothers is a standout psychological thriller in the emotional storytelling. The suspense within the domestic settings leave you wanting to know the answers. Although lacking in some areas, this was still a good read and one I would recommend to those who like this genre!
NetGalley ARC: Two Mothers by Kathryn Croft delves into the lives of two women, Rachel and Holly, whose friendship is forged through shared tragedy. Rachel’s daughter died in a heartbreaking accident, while Holly’s daughter was kidnapped. The novel masterfully intertwines their stories, leading readers through a labyrinth of emotions, secrets, and suspense.
From the very beginning, the book captures the reader’s attention with its intense and emotional opening scenes. Kathryn Croft's writing style is crisp and compelling, ensuring that the pacing remains taut throughout. Each chapter ends on a cliffhanger, making it difficult to put the book down. The plot is layered with twists and turns, each more shocking than the last, culminating in a finale that, unfortunately, felt unsatisfying. Some characters did not receive the resolutions they deserved, leaving a sense of incomplete justice.
I really loved how Holly kept supporting and believing in her friend throughout the story. The way each chapter makes you think you’ve figured out what’s going on, only to confuse and change your mind in the next, is like the author playing hide and seek with the readers.
Kathryn Croft’s writing is both evocative and accessible. She skillfully balances descriptive prose with sharp dialogue, ensuring that the narrative flows smoothly. Her ability to create a suspenseful atmosphere while delving deep into the emotional lives of her characters sets this thriller apart from others in the genre.
Two Mothers is a standout psychological thriller that grips you from the first page and doesn’t let go until the last. the auther has crafted a story that is as emotionally resonant as it is suspenseful. With its well-drawn characters, intricate plot, and unexpected twists, this novel is a must-read for fans of the genre. Whether you’re looking for a deep emotional journey or a heart-pounding thrill ride, Two Mothers delivers on all fronts, even if the ending leaves something to be desired.

I read this quickly because I was eager to find out how it ended. I had no idea where the story was headed and was thoroughly astonished by the twists and turns. I have to add that the suspense was one of the highlights. There is a lot of drama and lies interspersed with grief. I enjoyed the writing style and how well it flowed. I thought this was a great read.

I couldn’t put this down! What a fantastic page-turner this was. I’ve read all of Kathryn Croft’s books and I’m never disappointed.
It’s the story of Holly and Rachel (told in alternate chapters but in third person) who are good friends. Rachel’s daughter, Evie, was tragically killed when she was two and she seems to have an unhealthy obsession with Holly’s two year old daughter, Luna. When Luna goes missing, everyone can’t help being that little bit suspicious of Rachel.
Loads of twists and turns throughout the whole book. Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC.
Two best friends have been through a lot together. They support each other fiercely and through it all. This story keeps you guessing about what you think you may or may not know. It was one that kept me engaged and always questioning. It was so good! I highly recommended it! Great writing and characters!
Good storyline and interesting characters. Lots of twists and turns.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me to read this ARC.
Loved this! I read in one sitting. I love alternate time line stories and this one was intriguing. Did she take my baby?!
I enjoyed reading this book! It was suspenseful, and kept me gripped the entire time. It was hard to put down, because I wanted to find out what happened next. This was my first book by this author, and I look forward to reading more from her.
I enjoyed this book so much! Literally finished it in one day because I couldn't put it down. The twists have you thinking you knew who did it only to find out you're wrong!
Definitely recommend reading this when it's released!
This was a great read! The plot was super interesting and engaging and I found myself not wanting to put this one down!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc. Her daughter died. Did she take mine?? I could not put this book down, I read it so fast, I didn't care about real life that needed me. Amazing domestic thriller. It has grief, friendship, doubting and suspense. A must read.
Kathryn Croft's newest release, 'Two Mothers', is a gripping psychological thriller. With a dual timeline and alternating perspectives from Holly and Rachel, this fast-paced novel will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Croft's writing style is as captivating and addictive as ever, creating an enjoyable reading experience. While the conclusion may have been slightly predictable, it is still a great addition to Croft's repertoire. I do not doubt her fans will devour this twisty read with gusto.
Two Mothers - Rachel and Holly. Best friends, one lost her daughter in a tragic accident and the other daughter was kidnapped.
Told in dual POV and timelines going between Rachel in the past and Holly in the present. I was guessing up to the very end.
Rachel looses her daughter Evie in a tragic accident. While struggling with this grief she tries to spend more time with best friend Holly and her daughter Luna. Holly’s daughter is kidnapped and shortly after Rachel disappears.
Did Rachel kidnap Luna? Did she disappear on her own? Holly won’t stop until she gets the answers.
Fast paced, edge of my seat page turner with an ending I didn’t see coming.
Thank you to the authors, publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.
A story to keep you hooked from beginning to end plenty of twists and turns - emotions run high really enjoyable and absorbing read
This was a great book that I pretty much read in one sitting. I went in blind and when I read the synopsis later, I actually think it gave too much information- there are even more good twists if you don’t read it first :) The story centers on best friends Rachel and Holly who have daughters the same age; then the unthinkable happens and Rachel’s daughter dies in an accident. The relationship becomes tense, and this all comes to a head when Holly's own daughter goes missing a year later. The book is much more than that, though, and deeply explores friendships, relationships, and forgiveness.
I really liked both Holly and Rachel, as well as most of the tertiary characters in the story (there are some jerks, too, but the author makes them believable). Both Holly and Rachel were strong characters who tried to do the right thing. Holly’s steadfast belief in Rachel, even when no one agreed with her, was heartwarming. The mystery was strong, and I read along eagerly to find out what had really happened. The end of the book left a bit of a question mark, and I truly understand where the author was going, and what Holly ultimately decided to do, but ideally I wish it had been buttoned up more cleanly. That being said, it didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the book.
Overall, this was a twisty, yet moving, story and I have a feeling it’s going to stick with me for a long time. I’d recommend to those who like mysteries as well as domestic suspense. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
this story had me so engrossed from page one. two best friends one lost her daughter car accident. and now the others daughter has gone missing. the twist and turns in this book will keep you gripped until the very end how the story comes together is amazing
Rachel's daughter was killed by a car. It was definitely and accident, but the family was never the same afterwards.
Rachel's close friend, Holly, has a daughter, Luna, and Rachel is very fond of her.
Luna disappears, and Rachel is in the search party, desperate to find the little girl.
Rachel is reported missing by her husband, and suspicion falls on her for the kidnapping of Luna. Holly doesn't want to believe that.
This is definitely a page turner. Kathryn Croft did a very good job of misleading me with the twists and clues as to the disappearances.
I doubt I would have guessed who kidnapped Luna and why Rachel disappeared.
I recommend.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book.
