I really enjoyed The Golden Couple so I was so excited to read this book! It was super fast paced with short chapters, which I love. It also kept me really hooked all the way to the end. However, I felt like some of the events that happened towards the end were a little random and unrealistic. I did still really enjoy this book and will read more from Sarah Pekkanen in the future!
Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for sending me an ARC ๐

A satisfying and spooky mix of psychological thriller and murder mystery, with a good brain and heart

An enjoyable book that will have you on the edge of your seat, trying to guess who the killer is, right up until the end. The author does a great job making you bond with the characters, and wrapping up the little mysteries you e discovered along the way. I especially like how neatly tied with a bow the conclusion was and can say I was happy with the ending.

"House of Glass" is a gripping thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat, eagerly turning pages to uncover its secrets. This electrifying story follows Stella, a newly appointed Guardian Ad Litem (Attorney) for Rose, a young girl suffering from traumatic mutism. As Stella delves into Rose's complex family dynamics, the plot thickens with shocking twists and dark secrets.
Roseโs father stands accused of an affair with the nanny, who has mysteriously turned up dead. Now, amidst a bitter divorce, the question looms: did Rose kill the nanny, or is the culprit someone closer than expected? Stella's encounters with Rose are filled with tension and raw emotion as she tries to unravel the mystery and determine which parent deserves custody. The suspense is palpable as the narrative dives into the lengths parents will go to hide their truths and protect their fragile world inside the House of Glass.
Every character is a potential suspect in this tantalizing whodunnit, making for a rollercoaster of suspicion and revelation. While the writing can be overly descriptive at times, complicating the dialogue, it doesnโt detract from the relentless pace and heart-pounding moments that define this psychological thriller.
Thanks to MacMillan Audio and NetGalley for the audiobook. "House of Glass" is a must-read for anyone who loves a story that keeps you guessing until the very end.

This was my first book by this author and I was not disappointed!! The depths of each character was so interesting and each chapter was like peeling back a layer. Loved the narrator.

Thanks to #NetGalley and #MacMillanAudio #MacAudio2024 for the book #HouseofGlass by #SarahPekkanen. This book is drama, murder and lies and I absolutely loved it! Stella is a best interest lawyer and is assigned to a divorce case in lieu of a 9 year old girl, Rose. But recently there was a nanny that died on their premises. Stella starts looking into things because they are all acting strange and Rose hasnโt spoke since it happened. Can Stella figure this out? Is Rose responsible?

First experience with this author and it was a solid book for sure. A good amount of mystery and suspense without being so scary that I have nightmares. There was a point in the book where I was expecting a supernatural turn so I love pekkanens ability to keep me guessing as a more experienced thriller genre reader. I listened to the audio version and the production did a wonderful job of building this story.

I really loved this book it was such an easy read I had to get to the end, a cant put down suspense. This was an easy 5 star books. I loved this book from beginning to end, and I like how the author wrapped Stellaโs storyline as well as Roseโs at the end and it didnt leave me hanging!

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan for an ARC of House of Glass!
This was a very entertaining whodunnit with many twists and turns. Once I got into the story it was definitely hard to put down, and the quick pace made for a fun read.
The final twist really surprised me, but with that said, I felt like many of the twists were predictable.
Overall, an entertaining read!

my very first audiobook ARC! and what a fun one.
let me start by giving kudos to this author for having a main character who is a best interest attorney/guardian ad litem. it was so refreshing to have an FMC with a career not typically seen in books. i love a good detective novel, but it gets tiresome reading the same few professions in books. this was a much appreciated change of pace that i really enjoyed!
stella has a unique opportunity to be appointed as roseโs BIA, a young girl suffering from traumatic mutism after witnessing the possible murder of her nanny. we see some *questionable* behavior from rose as well as each member of her family, leaving us guessing how tina really fell from the third story window. everyone in the barclay family is a suspect, had motive, and are actively working to deceive stella. throughout the chaos of roseโs story, we also learn about stellaโs complicated past and the childhood trauma she endured of losing both her father and mother at a young age. she is reconciling that loss parallel to the barclaysโ unfolding, leaving the reader with all the sensations of unease and dying to know the answers.
i have to say that this was such a well-rounded ending. after the crescendo of finding out the โwhodunitโ aspect of the book, we were able to stay with stella for multiple chapters and have all areas of her life wrapped up with a cute little bow! it was so satisfying. i kept thinking the book was over and then we would get another chapter that gave us even more. my main critique of this was that she forgave WAY TOO EASILY! if we wanted true horror, there would have been more sinister implications in that major deception.
many thanks to NetGalley, St. Martinโs Press, and Sarah Pekkanen for sending this ARC!

Thank you Macmillan and NetGalley for this advance readers audiobook copy in exchange for an honest review.
House of Glass is a family drama filled with suspense and twists. A family that appears perfect on the outside is suddenly in crisis when their nanny mysteriously falls to her death from the window of their home. During the impending divorce case. Stella is assigned to be their daughter, Roseโs, attorney. While addressing her own childhood trauma she investigates what is in the best interest of Rose.

This thriller was easy to get through but I didnโt think it was anything special. The plot was intriguing and kept me engaged. I did enjoy Stella as the narrator and her determination to protect Rose. There were part of the story that felt redundant and drawn out. Overall this was a good thriller if you are looking for a quick read.
I enjoyed Laura Benanti as the narrator and liked listening to this audiobook!

This was one of my most anticipated books of the year, and it did not disappoint. Sarah tells a classic whodunit tale with creepy sinister characters that will keep you guessing. She made excellent use of her characters, taking you down uncertain paths, not knowing who to trust. The book was full of misdirection, and I loved that I couldn't trust my own opinions and suspicions.
I loved Rose, the creepy child. This character was so well developed and portrayed the evil child so well that my opinions of her constantly changed
And, let's not forget the foreboding, glassless mansion with it's ever present underlying tone of unease.
I couldn't stop listening to this story. The concept was intriguing. The pacing was great, and the build-up to the finale was packed with tension inducing moments. The narration was perfection and performed by Laura Benanti. She brought the whole story to life.
My only drawback was that there were two many subplots. They were unnecessary and distracting, taking the focus away from the main mystery line.
But it doesn't take away from how great this book is.
I definitely recommend!

Rose is nine years old and suffers from traumatic mutism as a result of witnessing the death of her nanny Tina, in the midst of her parents acrimonious divorce.
Stella is a best interest attorney who represents the children in custody cases. She usually refuses to take on cases of children under 13 because of her own traumatic past-she also suffered from traumatic mutism as a child which makes her the best person to try and reach Rose and determine who is the best parent to be awarded custody.
But there are details surrounding Tinaโs fall that make the police have doubt about whether or not it was an accident that makes everyone a suspect, even Harriet, Roseโs handicapped grandmother who lives with them. The Barclays have removed all the glass from the house after the fall after the discover that Rose has started sneakily collected sharp objects and hiding them. But even more troubling is why the Barclays are so hesitant to allow Stella to spend time alone with Rose.
I really enjoyed that this didnโt go overt the too with crazy twists and the resolution was satisfying. Thereโs not an overwhelming amount of characters to have to keep up with and they were developed enough that you could get to know them and the plot was original! Hallelujah!!
Thanks to Macmillan Audio for this ALC in exchange for my review.

I found myself really into this at first but by the end it just didn't hold the same thrill factor. It was giving me Turn of the Key vibes but the ending was not as shocking or as satisfying. I like the premise but I don't feel like enough time was spent with the family in question. A lot of it was about Stella and her background instead. I enjoyed the narrator.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read and listen an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I love thrillers and this did not disappoint. I have read others of this authors books and I will sure read more from her in the future.
The story is both creepy and suspenseful and the narrator did an excellent job.
4/5

Like every other Srah Pekkanen novel, this was a DELICIOUS read. Wonderfully creepy and atmospheric. Intelligent plot, great ending. I was hooked until the very last word!

In the midst of a bitter divorce between Rose's parents, the young girl who is only nine years old, is dealing with a traumatic eventโthe death of her nanny, Tina, which she witnessed firsthand. This event has rendered her unable to speak, leaving her with only stoicism and occasional dismissiveness as means of expression. Rose's grandmother, piano lessons, and Chinese calligraphy lessons are the constants in her life, providing some level of stability.
Stella, a BI attorney assigned to the case, must navigate the complexities of determining the best parental arrangement for Rose. As the divorce becomes increasingly acrimonious, Stella's demeanor shifts from shy to cold, raising concerns about her ability to protect Rose from potential danger.
The story is skillfully narrated with each character's voice distinct, allowing the listener to identify the speaker and understand Rose's perspective despite her mutism. The narrator's excellent performance enhances the story, making it a captivating listen for this wonderful thriller.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for this advanced e-audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

When Attorney Stella Hudson receives a case about a child going mute after a traumatic event it hits close to home. Stella also went mute as a child following her own traumatic upbringing. Rose Barclay, only 8 years old has nothing to say following the shocking death of her nanny. Stella quickly sees there is more than meets the eye in the Barclay home. Something is definitely not as idyllic as it is being portrayed and everyone seems to have a motive for wanting the nanny dead, even Rose.
I thought this was so well written and loved the suspense built upon each character. It is great for those that enjoy being unsure of what is going on until the very end.
Many thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to rate and review the book. All opinions are my own.

I'm not a giant thriller reader, but I do enjoy them from time to time. House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen provided enough character development, twists, and turns to keep me interested. I actually requested the audiobook of this thriller from Net Galley due to the narration by Laura Benanti. She did a great job of the various character voices, but I did find the voice of Stella, the main character, to be a little breathless and somewhat annoying. There were no big shocks and I did see most of the twists coming, but it was entertaining, none the less.
Many thanks to Net Galley for providing the audio.
