This audiobook was beautiful! I know it can help with science, social studies, ELA and even math skills. For science the book mentions the plant that henna is made from. For Social studies there is a cultural aspect mentioned at the end of the book about how henna is used in those cultures. Ela this could be a used as a persuasive essay where students have to choose a design and why they would use it or not. For Math, it could be used to experiment with measurements and how to convert them and make a good consistency with the henna.

Henna Is... an exceptional book that dives into the history of Henna and how Henna connects cultures and life. Henna is more than temporary body art. Henna is so much more.

Thank you Net galley and MacMillan Audio for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.
This is a cute and informative book about Henna and the ways it is used in the culture. From how it's made, to how it's worn, and what it represents in the culture. I recommend this for Preschool or Kindergarten classes that are learning about different cultures and maybe want to do a project about Henna. Maybe get a person who does Henna and show them where it comes from, how it's made, and most definitely how it's used. The audiobook narrator was amazing and the background music was nice.

A beautiful and lyrical love letter to henna.

"Henna Is..." explains not only how henna is made and what it means culturally, but what it means artistically and personally.. There's an adoration of its sensory impact regarding smell, texture, and appearance. I love the representation!

"Henna Is . . ." by Marzieh Abbas is a children's picture book. I received the audiobook to review, narrated by Lipica Shah. It is about 5 minutes long.

The story is written in poetry and uses descriptive language to tell about each aspect of Henna. These are: Nature, Proportion, Color, Texture, Fragrance, Place, Technique, Art, Function, Friendship, Celebration, Tradition, and Identity.

Henna is described as being able to leave a temporary tattoo on the skin that will last several days. The designs often look like vines with little flowers and curlicues.

There is a background of traditional (Indian) music behind the story, but it wasn't distracting. It enhanced the story.

I would have enjoyed seeing the book along with the audio, but I think a blind person could still appreciate the book with just the audio.

Recommended for families with young children and school libraries.

Thank you to Netgalley, Macmillan Audio/ MacMillan Young Listeners, and Marzieh Abbas for providing this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

Henna Is….by Marzieh Abbas
Read to find out what Henna really is. The author lists all that it is…nature, art, color, place, techniques, fragrance, friendship, but there is “so much more!” What really pulls this book together is the great imagery.

This was a neat little picture book and I learned things I didn't know all the ingredients that went into henna giving it it's unique smell. I think kids will enjoy this book!

The audiobook was very well done I think the music added to it.

I ordered this for my library.

I loved the cover of this book, so wondered how it would feel to listen to the magic unfold, telling us "Henna Is." I was not disappointed and can see little ones enthralled by it, whether they are versed in the familiar world of henna or whether their parents want to expose them to worlds different from their own. I liked the special sound effects and music, as well as the narrator's voice.

I loved this audiobook, it not only educates kids on what Henna is, but also shares its cultural history and how beautiful and artistic Henna is! I also really enjoyed the soundtrack that came along with this audiobook.

This was a lovely listen and so much more informative than I was expecting for a children's book! Henna Is... provides a really cool look into the cultural history and significance of henna as not just an art form across many cultures! The sound effects and music in addition to the narration make this such a fun experience -- the lemon squirt sound caught me so off guard I laughed so hard. Overall, this was such a great audiobook that educates in a very kid-friendly way!

This is a lovely, very lyrical read about Henna. I thought the narrator, audio effects, and soundtrack all did a great job of bringing the imagery within the story to life.

Henna is… written by Marzieh Abbas, is a wonderful children’s book written about Henna, and what it is. I loved hearing about the different ingredients in Henna, and the different ways it is used. I enjoyed the music that accompanied this audiobook in the background, and appreciated that Henna was described as tradition. I feel like this would be a great book for young readers, especially around holidays such as Eid and Diwali when little ones might have or be exposed to Henna. I look forward to sharing this book with my preschool friends! Thank you to NetGalley, and to the author, narrator, illustrator, and publisher of this book for an ALC in exchange for an honest review.

This audiobook was made available for me to listen to and review by Marzieh Abbas, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley.

The narrator is Lipica Shah. This has a production quality with drums and music played under the voice track. Not distracting at all. Lipica has a friendly, happy, and kind voice perfect for the younger children this audiobook is for. I assume this also has an accompanying picture book.

This is adorable. and an extremely fast listen that is perfect for younger children. I have 3 grandkids aged 2 to 8, all of whom loved this. Henna is culturally important to South Asian, Middle Eastern, North & East African cultures. This read like a poem with wonderfully descriptive language.

Thank you to Marzieh Abbas, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to and review this audiobook. All opinions and viewpoints expressed in this review are my own.

My daughter and I absolutely loved this sweet story! It was so fun, informative, and cute to follow with. We can’t wait to go get henna after reading this book. I loved that it was taken to a child’s level and told so well that she could understand. The main character was just precious. A fun book to read together with your kids!

Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillian Audio for this Audio Arc in exchange for my honest review.

This is a quick less than 5 minute listen about Henna. The book itself is very informative but definitely for the older elementary school students due to some of the language..

As far as the audio version it seems very rushed. I wish the pictures were described for sight impaired individuals, especially for the subject matter. Also, the narration itself was not conducive to a young listener audience in my opinion. It was just read as more of a technical manual about henna.

Despite that I’m going to rate it 4 stars as it’s a niche topic that children can learn about in an enjoyable way.
