Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced reader copy of Cold Storage. Although this is book 2 in the series, it is the first Michael C Grumley book that I’ve read. The storytelling was so good that I didn’t feel like I had missed out for not reading the first book. It was excellent. I definitely plan to read additional titles by this author.

I was fairly certain I was going to give this 3 stars about half way through, but then the last third of the book was...wow. This went places I wasn't expecting, and I'm a fan. I hope that some of the lingering questions I have are answered in the next installment though!

Another wildly entertaining and fast paced thriller with cryotechnology and time travel as its key components.
The second in the series opens with a bang and the action keeps up throughout the narrative. The characters from the first book return and it’s essentially a good vs evil setup with Rachel and John vs the dastardly creeps called The Nine.
I love science fiction that is slightly out there but still believable. I enjoyed the technology and the details about the concept of reviving someone who had been frozen alive and was now being thawed and brought back to life. With any futuristic novel set in a dystopian world, you always hope that this worst is not going to come to pass, but it sometimes seems inevitable doesn’t it? I’ll save other spoilers so as not to ruin any twists and discoveries that occurred.
Regardless, this was another great part of the story started with the first book. I’m not sure if we will see a third, but I really do hope so. I liked the characters of Rachel and John and their close friends and cohort.
I was able to listen to the audiobook while also following along in the e-book ARC with both provided by the publishers. The narrator was fabulous. Scott Brick has a voice made for drama and his incomparable performance always enhances every book he reads. Don’t miss it!

Cold Storage from Michael C. Grumley is the second book in the Revival series - a series that questions scientific ethics, mortality, and the price associated with both!
(As it had been a year since I read Deep Freeze, I re-read the last four chapters before continuing on with John Reiff's story. Cold Storage is marketed as a standalone thriller, but instead, I'd recommend reading this series back to back for the best, most immersive experience!)
Sometimes, it's difficult to review follow-up books in a series, which is the case here. Deep Freeze wowed me in an unforgettable way, so Cold Storage had a lot to live up to. As I was already familiar with the premise, this story seemed to lack the impact the first book had. Cold Storage is incredibly descriptive, but this book seemed slightly less cinematic and less science based (which could be because most of the facts were presented in Deep Freeze); there just seemed to be a lack of big, adrenaline pumping scenes within this second book - especially when compared to the first. I also wish that John Reiff was on page more, although this shift allowed Rachel Souza to truly shine!
Grumley often starts a chapter with cryptic and hidden writing, making the reader guess as to exactly which character the scene is playing out around, and it isn't until there's the reveal of the withheld piece that it all comes together. Not only does this create an incredibly addictive puzzle to read, it's also the perfect way to create intrigue and a bit of mystery throughout the book!
This story carried on the same thread of the first book but took a unique direction, which put the characters in familiar but different circumstances!
Overall, this was a fantastic read, getting four well-deserved stars!
Thank you NetGalley, Tor Publishing Group, and Forge Books for the complimentary copies to read and review.

Wow I LOVED this book. Even more crazy and interesting than the summary suggests. The characters are amazing, the sci-fi premise and the TWISTS - amazing. And there are a lot of action, chase and evade type scenes to keep your heart pumping. I never wanted to put this book down and will be thinking about it for a long time.
Note; this is book 2 in the series, which I did not realize, but I had no trouble jumping in (tho now I really want to go back and read book 1).

While this does say it's a standalone thriller in the Revival universe, I think to get the most out of Cold Storage you need to read Deep Freeze first.
Picking up not long after the first book ended our group of scientists are working to revive John for the second time. There are some shadowy people after them as they need John... well I'll let you figure that out
I loved John in the first book, and honestly, I think the one issue I had with this book is I didn't think John was in it enough. This story is appropriately action-filled, and at hmm about the midway point the story takes quite a turn that I was not expecting, and while it was a bit of a left turn for the story I still quite enjoyed myself.
I'm not sure if we will be getting more in the Revival series but if there are more books I will definitely be reading them.

I want to start by thanking both NetGalley as well as the publisher Forge books for my eARC in exchange for my honest review.
A great thrilling follow up to Deep Freeze. The greed of the wealthy elite vs the lab rat who we will all be rooting for. I loved the pace and characters and I am looking forward to more.

This is book two of The Revival Series and follows on almost immediately after the first book. While I appreciate that most of the questions from the first book were answered, I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the first one. This one seemed more violent and, about half way through, it took off in a completely unexpected, and frankly unbelievable, direction. I also found the violent and abrupt ending in the compound to be troubling.
My copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. My thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review it.

Cold Storage by Michael C. Grumley Second book in the Revival series with the enigmatic John Rieff . This adventure again combines science fiction with fast paced action that is both thought-provoking and gripping.
Thank you to the author, Tor publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

This is the second (I believe) in Grumley's series featuring Army Veteran John Reiff. Although this is technically a sequel, I think it functions as a standalone thriller as well. With a writing style that includes enough twits and turns to fully engage the reader, I can see my reluctant young adult readers, particularly the males, flocking to this series. It is a must add to library collections.
