This was fun. It took me back. I feel like it is still great for adult fans of R.L. Stine too. Kids that enjoy scary stories will get a kick out of this one.

Big fan of R.L. Stine for many years. Enjoyed the story. Especially enjoyed the audio. Was pleasantly surprised to hear Ramon DeOcampo as the narrator. He narrated the entire Diary of A Wimpy Kid series that I listened to with my kids. Mine aren't into horror so I listened to Shark Night on my own and would definitely recommend to middle grade age children that like mild scares and suspense.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC in audiobook format.

Shark Night by R.L. Stine, narrated by Ramon de Ocampo, is a thrilling and suspenseful audiobook that captures the essence of a classic Stine horror tale, tailored perfectly for younger audiences. This story plunges listeners into a terrifying seafaring adventure that is engaging and spine-chilling.

The plot centers around Carlo, a twelve-year-old boy who finds himself in a precarious situation while helping his mother film a documentary for the Danger Channel. What was supposed to be a controlled and safe encounter with a nearly toothless hammerhead shark quickly turns into a nightmare when a much more dangerous shark is mistakenly lowered into the tank with him. The tension escalates as Carlo must use his wits and bravery to survive the ordeal.

Ramon de Ocampo’s narration is an excellent feature of this audiobook. His dynamic and expressive voice brings the characters and the intense situations they face to life. De Ocampo’s ability to convey the fear and urgency in Carlo’s predicament keeps listeners on the edge of their seats, making the audiobook an immersive experience.

Stine’s storytelling is as compelling as ever, with a perfect blend of suspense, action, and just the right amount of horror for a middle-grade audience. The pacing is brisk, ensuring that young listeners remain captivated throughout the story. The vivid descriptions and the palpable sense of danger make for a thrilling ride that is hard to pause.

Shark Night subtly imparts valuable lessons about courage, quick thinking, and the importance of staying calm under pressure. These themes are woven seamlessly into the narrative, providing depth to the story without detracting from the excitement.

Shark Night is a must-listen for fans of R.L. Stine and young readers who enjoy a good scare.

Shark Night Review!! 🦈

Shark Night was a 3.75/5 ⭐️ for me! Now that I have read several of Stine’s old books, I feel like his newer books are just getting further and further out there. 😂 This one was so silly and fun! It had me giggling at times it was just so cheesy. This one took some very random turns and that was the reason for the 3.75 rating!

I listened with my son, and we both loved this book! Every time we got in the car he would ask me to put the book on!

As an adult, I was a little confused by all the accents, lol, but my kid loved it.

Thank you NetGalley for the audio of Shark Night!

I’ve been a huge fan of RL Stine since I was a kid growing up with Goosebumps. Now I’m a 4th grade reading teacher who has so many readers who are engaged with the same books I read growing up and I even started recommending this to some of my 4th graders!

R.L. Stine comes through with a fantastic frightfest of a book that is perfect for Shark Week or any week. Liam is enlisted to help his mom with a Danger Channel documentary by getting in a tank with a harmless old hammerhead shark, and, after Liam enters the tank, the shark is lowered in...and it's one of the most aggressive species of shark in the world! Is Liam's mom trying to kill him?! Did she know?!

Stine is in fine form in this child-friendly yet tense story that reminded me a lot of David Fincher's film The Game. He makes it his own, though, and I highly recommend it for middle grade readers and their parents who will want to share in the fun.

Ramon de Ocampo does a fantastic job of embodying the characters and keeping the vibe both tense and light simultaneously, which is a tricky feat to accomplish. I highly recommend the book in audiobook form.

Many thanks to Blackstone Publishing and Netgalley for providing a copy for review purposes.

As a little girl I loved R.L. Stine because of his books with a creepy touch... I kept saving up my money to buy more of his books... so when I saw the cover of Shark Night I felt interested directly!

Liam is 12 and he loves the 'danger channel', when his mum (and documentary maker) is allowed to pitch an idea for the 'danger channel' he loves this! But when the hired actor is hurting his legg, all of a sudden Liam is ending up in a big, glass shark tank... and when the shark arrives, Liam knows it right away... It's the wrong Shark!!!!!

The shark breaks the glass and that is how Liam is ending up in the open water... from that moment on Liam is going from strange, creepy or exciting situaties to another, and mostly Liam isn't sure weather or not he will survive!

Shark Night is a book that gives me as a reader the feeling I allready know what will happen next for the biggest part of the book. It's not really a surprise for the reader that Liam is ending up in the thank for example. And that things will go wrong afterworths will not be a suprise eather for people who have read R.L. Stines books....

This feeling was constantly a part of me while I was reading, and I think that it was a shame... because who doesn't love a surprise in a creepy story? Because of that there wasn't really a need to finish up the story and it was too bad.

At the same time the voice of Ramone Deocampo was perfect, nice and just the right tone to telll a reader a creepy story!

Any book narrated by Ramon de Ocampo has a leg up, and a book written by Stine narrated by de Ocampo is going to be a must have. Pile on a mother who sends her son to swim with the sharks for extreme tv footage. This book is a must have for any middle grade book reader no matter their age.

I was excited to listen to the audiobook and the narrator did a great job. I loved R. L. Stine when I was younger so I was excited to check this one out. I felt the book was more of an adventure than a horror story until the end but it was still great. It was a quick read that follows Liam and his mother a filmmaker determined to do a project for Shark Week. She’s ecstatic when she is approved and Liam and his little sister get to watch the filming. But nothing about this adventure goes Liam’s way. This was a fun middle grade story that I think kids will enjoy.

Thanks to NetGalley for the audioarc to preview.

As a life long RL Stine fan I was very excited to read his latest offering and it did not disappoint. Written in his signature creepy middle grade style this jawesque story was a spooky delight that kids and adults will love to devour in the Halloween months!

As an adult reading this there of course is tons of very questionable red flag popping up with the morality of the story and the things that went on but if I look at it from a child’s point of view it was very thrilling and did its job! The storyline was really interesting and had a turn around every corner to keep me hooked on the audiobook. I loved the narrator and how immersive the characters were! Thank you for the ARC!

R. L. Stine is back at it again with another fun Goosebumps like story called Shark Night. Love the "subtle" references to discovery types of shows. A boy is just trying to do a favor for his mom who is working on a documentary for the Danger Channel. Things do not appear what they seem and will definitely get kids gasping throughout the story.

Shark Night, by R.L. Stine, is a gripping thriller that combines the author's signature suspense with a menacing aquatic twist. The story centers on a group of friends who head to a remote lake house for a summer getaway, only to find themselves facing a series of terrifying encounters with sharks. Stine's writing is fast-paced and engaging, drawing readers into the mystery and tension of the plot. The characters are well-drawn, and their interactions add depth to the story, making their peril feel all the more real. While the premise of sharks in a freshwater lake stretches credibility, the novel maintains a compelling atmosphere of fear and suspense.

This newest release from R.L. Stine has twists and turns in plenty. What happens when a 12 year old boy is put in a tank with a shark, and it turns out, it's the wrong shark?

For me, this had lots of nostalgia, as it reads like a Goosebumps novel, and my middle grade kiddo loved it, too!

The narrator was excellent.

This is a must read/listen for fans of Stine or his style of chills and thrills.

Thank you to NetGalley, Blackstone Publishing - Audiobooks, R.L. Stine, and Ramon de Ocampo (audio narrator) for the opportunity to read and listen to the audiobook of Shark Night in exchange for an honest review.

As a lover of horror and a fan of Goosebumps, I was excited to see something about sharks, although I don't appreciate when sharks are shed in a negative light. Still, this makes for a fun middle grade/young adult semi-horror story.

Shark Night follows Carlo, whose mom is making a documentary on sharks. He's not exactly agreeable when it comes to being the one placed in the cage for the documentary. He's only twelve after all! But a kid with a shark seems like an excellent way to get high ratings.

It's supposed to be a hammerhead, relatively docile for a shark. Instead, Carlo finds himself face-to-face with a bull shark, known for their aggressive ferocity. When Carlos cage breaks and he finds himself on an island, he wonders how things turned to such a mess.

In an adventure of facing fear and coping with unfortunate situations, this novel is quick, quirky, and fun for a middle grade audience. It offers some instances of a fourth wall break that add a little extra fun, and the character and scenarios he is placed in are both realistic and ridiculous at the same time. Another fun novel from the brilliant writer of young readers horror.

🦈 Today I want to share RL Stine’s newest book, Shark Night. Most of us know his work from the Goosebumps series, but this one is different. It’s more adventurous and action packed, I wouldn’t classify it as horror at all. This is one everyone in your family would enjoy. There are some tense moments, but with all middle grade books, we know it’s going to work out!

🦈 I admit I expected this to be more like a goosebumps book, and more of a horror book. It’s definitely not, and it’s so good! It’s full of action, adventures, and a nightmare for poor Liam. Read this one and find out what happens when Liam’s Mom is filming a documentary for the Danger Channel!

I was worried that my own nostalgia might color my review, but SHARK NIGHT did not disappoint!

Set in California, it follows middle schooler Liam and his little sister, Rosa. Their mom is desperate for a hit TV show, and the kids are willing to help her any way they can. The story plays with sibling dynamics, underwater terrors, and what it means to be brave. Fans of Goosebumps will find the beats of Stine’s writing familiar, but still surprising and entertaining!

Highly recommend for any middle grade library—it is short, funny and terrifying!

R.L. Stine will forever be the reigning king of mid grade horror! This chilling tale had so much happening in it that is relevant in our world that the kids will just eat it up! At the end of each chapter, you just end up saying "now what?!"!
