These are the cutest books! Fun story, colorful pictures, and learning all rolled into one. I enjoyed them and I am not even a kid. Children will love reading these again and again. Highly recommend!

Love how these alphabet friends attempt to help i who has lost her dot. They end up going through the whole alphabet. The story is cute and the illustrations are great!

"The Little i Who Lost His Dot" is such a fun and unique version of an alphabet book. As a parent and elementary school teacher I have read a ton of different alphabet books but I love how this incorporates learning letters with an actual story. Many children (like my toddler!) are not captivated by traditional ABC books because of the repetitive nature, however he really liked this one and was invested in the story! In my opinion, this is how learning should be- fun! Not simply route memorization, especially at a young age.

It’s the last day of school and little i has lost his dot. All of his letter friends try to come to the rescue with round items that begin with their letter, but they don’t quite feel the same as replacements. It’s a very cute story for your littles about helping your friends.

Pros: I love children's books about words and grammar and thought this book was a great lesson on letters and capitalization! The illustrations throughout are bright and cheerful--I especially loved the visualization of letters as characters. I would love to see more books in this series!

Cons: None that I can think of!

Thank you to NetGalley and Familius for the opportunity to read this book.

The Little i Who Lost His Dot is a cute picture book about a little i and all of the other alphabet letters trying to help him or her locate their lost dot. This search results in an alphabet book. Kimberlee Gard's books in this series are very engaging while teaching children about letters and punctuation. This is great addition to a child's (K-2) personal, classroom, school and public libraries!

Thank you Net Galley, Kimberlee Gard and Familius for the opportunity to preview this book and the opinions shared are my own.

In a twist on a classic alphabet book, Little i goes off to school...only to find that he's lost his dot! His classmates are ready to leap in and provide solutions: Little a finds an acorn to use as a dot, Little l suggests a light bulb...but nothing seems quite right. What is a lowercase letter to do?

The illustrations are simple but colorful, letting the alphabet letters be the stars of the show. I also really like that there's more story here than just the alphabet—there's a whole alphabet school where little letters learn to make words, and alphabet parents—and that the things the other little letters suggest are largely a departure from things seen in many alphabet books.

Overall, a cute and useful read for little ones who are making it out of ABC and into abc.

Thanks to the author and publisher for providing a review copy through NetGalley.

This book was adorable! Who knew it would turn out to be a bit of a coming-of-age story?
I think that there are also a couple of different and interesting ideas that come together in this story. Gard effortlessly ties together compassion with growing up. Little i's letter friends help him find a replacement dot (compassion) and then Little i's dad says that he might not need his dot anymore and can become a Capital I (growing up).
The only thing I would add is on the last page, when Little i says "I can start a sentence now!" I think that since this is an educational book about capitalization (as it says on the front cover) there should also be a piece about how it can also be used as a personal pronoun (but put that into kid-friendly wording).

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book and I think kids will, too!

The Little i Who Lost His Dot is the first book in the Language is Fun! series. The book follows little i who lost his dot, and all the other little letters try and help him. The book makes learning the alphabet fun and introduces words that start with each letter. The illustrations are also bright and colorful, and the book is great for kids.

Such a cute story about the letter "i" - I love this for young early readers who are still struggling with some concepts of our language. Perfect edition to any bedtime story collection along with the others in this series.

The illustrations are wonderful and the story is cute. I would highly recommend to any child aged 4-5 but can also be read to younger kids in their 2-3yr old days.

This adorable book is great for little ones that are learning to write. Don't forget to dot your i! I love how it goes through the alphabet with all his friends trying to help him, and how—in the end—he realizes he's grown up into a capital I so he doesn't need it anymore! Love this. 🙂

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced digital reader's copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review!

This book is so unbelievably adorable and an excellent teaching tool for young children! As a Year 1/Kindergarten teacher I found this book to be both entertaining and educational. It is easy to read with cute illustrations that will keep young readers engaged. A great way to teach the alphabet and reinforce vocabulary. Highly recommend.

The Little i Who Lost His Dot is a cute illustrated story for the youngest readers (ages 4-8, Lexile AD460L), and part of the Language is fun series; this volume written by Kimberlee Gard. Released 1st Sept 2018 by Familius, it's 32 pages and is available in hardcover and ebook formats.

This is a fun book full of alliteration and cute letter shaped characters with stick figure arms, legs, and facial features. Little i has lost his dot and his friends try to help him find a good substitute (a coin, a balloon, a donut?).

Everything works out in the end. It's a nice, gently told story, without a lot of stress or any scary moments. The art, by Sandie Sonke, is very colorful and full of small details which invite readers to take a little extra time on each page.

Four stars. This would be an excellent choice for public or classroom library, homeschooling, and gift giving.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

The Little i Who Lost His Dot is a story about a little "i" who accidentally left his dot behind one day. All of the other letters try to find solutions for the "i" to use in place of a dot. I think the story and illustrations were super cute, but I felt like the solutions section of the book dragged on as every letter got the chance to try to fix the i. Overall though, the book was a fun and whimsical look at capital and lowercase letters.

Thanks to Kimberlee Gard, NetGalley, and Familius for the chance to read and review this advance copy!

“Dad, I look just like you! I can start a sentence now!”

Little i was excited for the last day of school, but when he arrived, his letter friends were shocked to see his dot was missing. Each letter presented him with an object that started with their letter in hopes of finding a replacement for his dot. Little i got a big and exciting surprise when his dad picked him up after school.
This is such a fun and unique play on a traditional alphabet book. You still go through the alphabet with each letter and the item they hope to replace Little i’s dot with, but with an actual story to go along with it. I loved the ending, it was such an unexpected and sweet way to end the book.

Learning new words, their correct spelling and pronunciation. With quirky illustrations that are vibrantly colored, it was another fun and educative little book.

An adorable book for early childhood students. I think especially preschoolers and kindergarteners but could be used for 1st and 2nd as well. The Little i Who Lost His Dot makes a wonderful read aloud. It is fun to have the students look for the words that start with their letter, “Z zoomed zero.” This is a fun feature throughout this short and effective teaching book, but what I really loved was the ending where little ‘i’ learned his lesson.

This short picture book is about a little “i” who lost his dot for the last day of school. All of his letter friends try to help him find it by offering things that start with their letter.

I loved this book! It had a cute story and it was informational for the kids. It taught letters and showed different words that started with each letter. It also had a nice ending.

I loved the illustrations throughout this one as well. They were full of color and very cute. I think kids will enjoy this book!

Thanks so much to netgalley and Familius for the arc of this one in exchange for an honest review!

Fun story about the last day of school, where the students are all alphabet letters, when little i shows up without his dot. The other letters of the alphabet come up with potential replacements, but nothing fits. Until Dad shows up and shows the way to the future and the way to growth. I don't want to spoit too much, but the story is delightful and the ending is fully realized and very clever. I liked it very much. Hint, hint.
