Another great addition to the phonics series. I love how this explains the purpose of different types of punctuation. As always, the illustrations are fun and cute!

This was a super fun and creative picture book about the day the punctuation family moved to town. Exclamation Point is excited to start school! Question Mark asks all the tough questions. Period ends all sentences. Comma feels out of place at times. Will Comma be able to find its place?

This ebook was made available for me to read and review by Kimberlee Gard, Familius, and NetGalley.

This educational picture book was chosen by my granddaughter. I was scrolling through the availability in Read Now and the cover drew her right in. The illustrations in this ebook are bold and brightly colored. This serves as a fun introduction to or reminder of punctuation options. Each punctuation option demonstrated how and why it was used.
My grandkids loved this and giggled through the entire book. The importance of punctuation in understanding sentences is very adorably demonstrated in this ebook. This is perfect with preschool and up kids learning their letters and sentence structure.

Thank you to Kimberlee Gard, Familius, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this ebook. All opinions and viewpoints expressed in this review are my own.

An adorable and colorful way to teach early readers what punctuation is for and how to use it wrapped up in a fun story.

Pros: After enjoying The Little I Who Lost His Dot, I was thrilled to discover there was another book in the Language is Fun series. This book is a fun exploration of punctuation marks. Just like in The Little I, the illustrations in this book are bright and friendly, and the letters and punctuation marks as characters was clever.

Cons: None that I can think of--I hope there are more books in this series!

Thank you to NetGalley and Familius for the opportunity to read this book.

There are some new kids in town—what should the alphabet make of them‽ "The Day Punctuation Came to Town" sets out to answer just that...

Now, I don't know how little kids feel about books about punctuation, but I'm all for them. This book keeps it simple: period, comma, exclamation mark, question mark (silent apostrophe hovering about on occasion). You won't see dashes or interrobangs or ellipses; you won't see colons or semicolons (or parentheses). I'd love to have those addressed in a book for slightly more advanced readers. But the playful way these stories play out reminds me of the Schoolhouse Rock videos I sometimes watched in class when I was little, and that can only ever be a good thing. This won't give an early reader a perfect understanding of punctuation, but the characters are distinct/memorable enough to be helpful to kids who are just shaky on the idea of puctuation in general.

Thanks to the author and publisher for providing a review copy through NetGalley.

📚✏️📌📚As a preschool teacher, and a mom of four, I am always looking for stories that teach concepts quietly and are fun at the same time! I have these added to my Amazon cart, because these stories are just so cute! I wish I had these when teaching, and for my two oldest kids. They are colorful, the stories are fun and keeps the child wanting to find out what happens, and the importance of each concept is so important. I loved how each one was thorough in explaining the why, how, and when. Yet it was all apart of a story. My kids loved these books! I’m excited to add these to our set of learning books. Thank you @netgalley @kimberlee.gard @sandiesonke for the advance copies of this book. #learningbooks #educationbooks

This one in the series seems a little more advanced than the others but just as good. What a fun way to learn punctuation and including everyone.

This series is so cute, my son loves them and wants me to buy them! As a former educator I really enjoy them too and could see them being so great to supplement phonics, reading or writing curriculum. My son just finished kindergarten and this book prompted some great discussions with punctuation, some which he has learned in school and some he hasn't.

The books in the "Language is Fun" series are great, and this one did not disappoint. I love how the author decided to add punctuation into the mix, rather than just having the series focus on letters. The way Gard did this was flawless, making the punctuation marks a family that moves into the city.
The plot was clearly defined, with a small yet essential conflict in the middle, with perfect timing. Incorporating the value of belonging into the story added more depth than one would think to the entire story, and I was engaged the entire time. The last thing I enjoyed was how the author (and the characters within the book) emphasize that all punctuation is important. Just as important as all the letters.

Bravo!

The Day Punctuation Came to Town is the second book in the Language is Fun! series. The book follows a new family, the Punctuations, who move to Alphabet City. The book makes learning about exclamation points, question marks, commas, and periods fun and shares examples of how to use each punctuation mark. The illustrations are also bright, and the book would be great for kids learning to read and write.

What a great idea for young children who are learning how to read. I love the concept of this book and the others in the series. It really teaches basic learning to read knowledge that is not easy to grasp initially for some kids. This is a great way to supplement their learning while also having a fun story to go along with it. I love the illustrations and the little story that goes with this punctuation book.

Highly recommend for any 3,4, or 5 yr old. I also read it to my 3 yr old and he loved it - so it's not bad to start them early.

This colorful book for new readers is adorable. It shows how important punctuation can be! As something that many younger writers forget about, this is a wonderful way to remind them. So much fun! This should be in all home and classroom libraries for new readers!

The Day Punctuation Came to Town is a great picture book with personified punctuation and letters in school. The letters and punctuation play together creating words and sentences. I loved the illustrations and how each punctuation mark's purpose matched its personality. This book is a great way to teach kiddos the basics of punctuation.

Thanks to Kimberlee Gard, NetGalley, and Familius for the chance to read and review this advance copy!

“We all work together. Words need punctuation, and punctuation needs words.”

A new family joins Alphabet City and adds all sorts of fun to the letters. When the letters meet this new family, at first they don't understand, but soon they have lots of fun. Comma doesn't know where she fits in, but when things get messy, she learns that she's just as important as everyone else. Each punctuation is important in its own way and has its own special job.
This is a great way to teach the purpose and importance of punctuation. Something as small as a comma can make a very big difference when writing. Just like with the letters, each punctuation has its own place. I love how this book shows that in the story and the illustrations. This will be a fun and meaningful resource when teaching children.
