Little e has a big role to play, but when it’s time to make words at school he’s missing! Try as they might the little letters can’t make their words without him. When he does show he saves the day and all the words come together.
Side note:
This book is a part of the Language is Fun series.
My only criticism is there is no mention whatsoever of the phonics rule for the silent e. The words don’t work without e, well most of them don’t, but no explanation of why. It’s a fun story, but falls short of being an educational tool for early readers on language.
This is a good book to help little ones understand phonics. It was very simple to understand and read. I would love to buy this once it's published for my kids.
📚✏️📌📚As a preschool teacher, and a mom of four, I am always looking for stories that teach concepts quietly and are fun at the same time! I have these added to my Amazon cart, because these stories are just so cute! I wish I had these when teaching, and for my two oldest kids. They are colorful, the stories are fun and keeps the child wanting to find out what happens, and the importance of each concept is so important. I loved how each one was thorough in explaining the why, how, and when. Yet it was all apart of a story. My kids loved these books! I’m excited to add these to our set of learning books. Thank you @netgalley @kimberlee.gard @sandiesonke for the advance copies of this book. #learningbooks #educationbooks
If only this kind of book had been available when I was learning. It not only teaches about letters but about being a friend and including others. Adding this to the list for my niece when she’s a little older
This was so cute! My kindergartner loved the illustrations and was able to connect the story to the "magic e" lessons he had learned at school. Would be a great book for homeschoolers or for teachers to use to supplement their curriculum.
A cute little story made to not only entertain young children but also teach them about the letter "e" and the purpose it serves at the end of a word. Illustrations are well done and the story flowed nicely.
Thanks to the publisher for an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This book was so cute!!!!
First of all, the lesson is clearly taught and easy for kids to understand.
Second, the illustrations were so so cute!! I loved the pastels and the variety of all of the different letters.
Lastly, my favorite, the idea is truly creative. I mean, letters going to school and class where they make words together? Brilliant! And the fact that these letter characters are in stories to teach kids about aspects of language...it's just perfect!
Well done!
The Mighty Silent e! is the third book in the Language is Fun! series. The book follows Little e and how the other little letters tried to make words with Little e, but they could not. The book highlights the importance of the letter e at the end of words and how a silent e changes the words. The illustrations are also colorful, and the book is great for kids.
What a cute little story about the silent "e" at the end of words! I love that this story is perfect for a kid learning to read as it helps them remember all the "rules" in our language. I also love the illustrations. I would highly recommend this book for any pre-K, kindergarten, or first grade students. I also read it to my 3 year old and he loved it so it doesn't hurt to introduce this early in their lives.
Adorable story - well done!
This book teaches silent e is such a fun way. In a way that is easy for beginning readers to comprehend. The artwork was very appealing as well and fit with the story.
This is great for teaching word study in classrooms. I would recommend for grades K-3. I can already see projects where my students make more stories about the jobs of e. Love it. Cute way to share some phonics rules. Kids will enjoy. Will be purchasing for my classroom.
Sometimes it’s hard to teach certain concepts to young readers and one of the hardest is the one this book explains rather well. I found silent e’s story to be well written. It gave clear examples and explained the rules about it in a way that children can grasp them. A definite must add to any classroom library.
The Mighty Silent e! is a cute illustrated story for the youngest readers (ages 5-8), and part of the Language is fun series; this volume written by Kimberlee Gard. Released 18th Aug 2020 by Familius, it's 32 pages and is available in hardcover and ebook formats.
This is a fun book full of alliteration and cute letter shaped characters with stick figure arms, legs, and facial features. Little e doesn't say much, and he's easy to overlook, until his friends try to make words. What's wrong? Nobody can make the word game work without their friend little e.
Everything works out in the end. It's a nice, gently told story, without a lot of stress or any scary moments. The art, by Sandie Sonke, is very colorful and full of small details which invite readers to take a little extra time on each page. The denouement, where the little letter groups appearing in the early pages are drawn at the end with their finished words including the silent e at the end (cake, rose, kite and more) give students and facilitators a good lesson on terminal e and how the e at the end of the word changes the sounds of the letters.
Four stars. This would be an excellent choice for public or classroom library, homeschooling, and gift giving.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
I love this cute book showing new readers the power of the silent e! This is a concept some of my students have a hard time with. Adorable and educational! I highly recommend this for homes and classrooms for new readers!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced audio copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review!

This is such an adorable book. I loved every page. The pictures are very cute as well!
This book is the perfect combination of an educational story (as it is about letters and how to form and pronunce words) and at the same time provides a lesson about how we are all important no matter our differences.
What a creative way to mix these elements!
It's also very short and fun to read.
I think this book should be in every classroom and library as it could be really helpful.

The Mighty Silent e! is a fantastic picture book about the letter e, who is missing from school one day. All of his letter friends realize that they can't make many words without him. This is a great way to introduce the concept of the silent e, and I loved that the had the quiet personality to match his "silent" functions. This is definitely a great book to help kiddos understand spelling!
Thanks to NetGalley, Familius, and Kimberlee Gard for the chance to read and review this advance copy!
This is a very sweet book about silent e. He knows that he was important. He hoped that some day he would come to the rescue. Little e didn’t have much to say at school and the other letters didn’t pay much attention to him. Until one day, letter e wasn’t at school. Miss Capital T asked the letters to join groups to make words. The letters realized they were lost without silent e. Turns out silent e was running late. The letters were so excited to have silent e back.
This is a really cute story. I can’t wait to get it and read it to my first graders, when we are studying silent e!
“But as usual, Little e was silent. He just smiled.”
Little e was the quietest letter at school, and the other letters usually didn't notice him. One day, when he was late for school, the other letters struggled to form words, but they didn't know why, until they realized Little e wasn't there. When that mighty silent e arrived, they found out how important he was to their words. With Little e at the end of each word, things made so much more sense.
Sometimes it takes a children's book to get you really thinking about how many words end with that very important silent e. This is a more complex lesson to teach children because it can get a bit confusing, but I think this story does a great job at explaining why the silent e is important. Again, the story and the illustrations make this a great classroom resource for literacy.
I love how E is represented, it made me smile at the whimsicalness of it all. The illustrations were fun with vibrant colors. This was a fun way of teaching new words and their correct spelling. This was a quirky educational read.
