Cute book to help kids practice the concept of the silent e.
Little 'e' is quiet and dreams of being a hero, He gets his chance when the other letters realize they need him to make lots of words.
I think this is best for children who have already learned about concept of the silent e, as the book doesn't go over that the 'e' at the end of the word changes the vowels to long vowel sounds. I read this book with my 5 year old, who is a very beginner reader. He was able to read the words once the 'e' came to the rescue, but he seemed a bit confused when the letters were first trying to form words without 'e'. It took a bit more explanation on my part, which is fine, but this might be better for readers who are a bit further along.
The Mighty Silent e!
This picture book is perfect for grade 1 and 2 students that are learning about the silent e and how it affects the vowels in words. The bright, colourful and engaging drawings are definitely appreciated by young readers and add to the enjoyment to the book. The imaginative way the author demonstrates the power of the silent e definitely sustains the reader’s attention and enhances the story. The language is very accessible to the target audience. This is a must buy for personal, classroom, school and public libraries!

Thank you Net Galley, Kimberlee Gard and Familius for the opportunity to preview this book and the opinions shared are my own.
This book was an adorable way to teach the concept of the silent e to grade school students. The images were cute and colorful. I do think it would be helpful to somehow mention that the silent e often changes the previous vowel to a long vowel sound. That wasn't explained so this story would need to be read by a teacher to a student to explain exactly how the silent e is used. I will be using this story myself.
This book follows the letters at school again and this time specifically it follows little e. While he is silent, he is still important and is able to save the day.
This book was cute! I really like this series. It shows some grammar rules that are important for kids to learn and understand. It shows grammar in a fun way that is easy to understand.
The illustrations are also great! I think kids will continue to enjoy this one.
Thanks so much to netgalley and Familius for the arc of this one in exchange for an honest review!
Cute book about the silent e and how important are he silent e is when he returns and saves the day. As a 2nd grade student teacher I will definitely read this to my students.
Wonderfully written and illustrated book about the power of the letter e at the end of a word, such as cak (put in the e and it makes a tasty treat!). Very sprly written and drawn, with the e being a quiet superhero (with cape and all), I enjoyed the quick grammar lesson and it clicked with me (but I am almost 72). So, three cheers (lots of e's eh?) for the silent e! Nice to hear from you! Whee!
