My son loves learning about all the letters, so he loved reading this book about what the vowels are. It is a great addition to what he is learning in school.

A lovely book about learning your vowels from consonants. By humanizing the letters in a game, kids will devour this book. It's visually inviting and the tone of the writing will have kids wanting to read this learning book repeatedly.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this advance readers copy in exchange for my honest feedback!!! Okay this one was cute and it came with an important message. That no matter who we are or what part we play we are all important!!! This book is about the struggle the vowels of the alphabet are feeling. They felt left out because they felt and looked a little different. Well as we all know that consonants of the alphabet need the vowels to help form words. They are impossible with out each other. Spoiler alert!!!! The letter Y brought the two groups together in the end! Beautiful illustrations through this picture book!!

I thought the personification of the little vowels. I love how the author encourages children to try and be brave. She also does a great job of showing what lower case vowels and do and the story will benefit readers.

This book is bright and entertaining, while educational! And if I'm not mistaken there's even a nice lesson about everyone being important in their own way, and fitting in somewhere!

Okay this book is BEAUTIFUL?? Like I rarely read a picture book that I think "damn this is amazing, I genuinely want to recommend it"?? but this one, just... hits? I firmly believe good picture books should be for all ages and this one, just feels right?

It's colourful and the illustrations are so stunning, I love how they've done the font and how each character/letter gets a special colour! The plot is super fun too but also informative, it's kept me, as an adult, engaged too!

The perfect book for teaching little ones how to spell and put words together!

This wasn't a phonics book, nor was it particularly helpful for learning about the vowels. Very short and lacking in direction. I don't see how a teacher would use this book in her classroom.

Red Rover, Red Rover, Send a Vowel Over
4/4.5 stars
Absolutely loved reading this children’s book to the kids. It is a great way to introduce vowels to younger children., as well as saying it's ok to be different. The pictures were colorful and matched the reading well. It was short enough where the kids would not lose interest, but long enough to get the point across. My only critique would be to maybe change the yellow letter, at times it was a bit hard to read the yellow (not sure if it was because of

A wonderful addition to the series, this title is a fun, quick read that is perfect for kids in grades K-2. Children will love to follow the vowels as they find their places among the other letters. Introducing the concepts of vowels and consonants in a playful way, the story will also resonate with themes of acceptance and belonging.

Cute! Children will relate to the characters, and it teaches how words can't be made without vowels.

I thought this was really cute. It would be perfect for prek/kinder classrooms. It teaches the vowels, they're different than consonants, and you need them to make words. It also teaches that being different isn't bad and to be brave.

The vowels feel left out when the consonants are playing, but the Y invites the vowels over because he is sometimes a vowel too. He also explains that it is impossible to make words without vowels which makes the vowels feel better about themselves. Together they make the words hi, come, run and play. It is a very cute story that could be used to introduce the importance of vowels while also teaching about inclusion and differences. There is one page where it is quite hard to read because each vowel is written in a different colour and the font is against a light sunset sky so it is hard to see each letter, but otherwise the book is fairly easy to read. I think this would be a fabulous addition to my classroom library and could definitely see myself reading this to my class. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this sweet book.

Cute book about vowels and consonants. The consonants are playing on the playground and are trying to create words but they can't without the vowels. This story was a nice way to introduce young children to the concept of vowels and consonants.

I like the title better than I like the book. All the letters go play and the vowels feel left out. But through this game of red rover the consonants realize that they can’t make words without the vowels, so they invite the vowels to play. Everybody plays and it’s happily ever after. The idea of story is cute, but the execution is long. This could have been shortened and it would’ve been 100 times better.

I felt more positive about the appeal of this book after noting that it was part of a Language is Fun series. It did have a nice message about including everyone, even if they’re different. As an early elementary storybook I see it working with an adult reader emphasizing the group of vowels and their importance (necessity!) in making words.

Great learning children’s book. My oldest is in first grade and he enjoyed this book. Vowels are important to learn. These books are not only teaching my son something but giving him something enjoyable to read at the same time.

Everyone remembers the game Red Rover, Red Rover. Kimberlee Gard has turned a children's game into a fun way to learn vowels in Red Rover, Red Rover, Send a Vowel Over. This book teaches children their vowels without them even knowing.

A game of Red Rover is decided upon by the consonants. The five vowels, a, e, i, o, and u, know how they stand out from the other letters. They are always intimidated by playground games. If little "i" runs too fast, he loses his dot. Little "o" rolls around quite a bit. If little "u" turns upside down, everyone thinks he is an n. Little "e" seldom says a word because he keeps quiet. Little "a" was always asked to lead the way.

In no time, the consonants realize that forming words is impossible without vowels. It is then that Y asks the vowels if they want to join. There are so many words you can make with the whole alphabet together!

There is a fun message at the end of Red Rover, Red Rover, Send a Vowel Over that children will love. Check out all of Kimberlee Gard's books.

This was so cute and will be perfect in K-2 classrooms! As a teacher of reading, we do teach that vowels are the key, and this book emphasizes that. I think students will enjoy this book, I want all fo these books from this author/series in my classroom!
