A very good, unpredictable, romance. Delightful in every way with a good dose of laughter too. Very good characters that everyone will relate to.
I do enjoy a good Cowboy story and this is definitely a great read!
I thought that this book had a great storyline and some well developed characters too who I loved getting to know as the book progressed.
The story is about two feuding families, two people growing closer together and it is a journey of forgiveness to find love and happiness.
It is a romantic and sexy story - it is 4 stars from me for this one, highly recommended!
Enemies to lovers is one of my favourite tropes ever, and I love small town romance so much, but this book sadly didn't hit for me. The chemistry between the main characters felt a bit off, sadly.
I really enjoyed this romance story of two people from feuding families that start off with some un-trust to something quite lovely. Amanda shows up as Tanners dad's therapist after a stroke and he wants her gone but he's stuck with her because she is the only one that is able to come out to the rural ranch. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.
This is the first book by this author I've read. I got 38% through this book; unfortunately, I had to DNF (did not finish) the book. I could see the potential the book had with the storyline. The book starts with 2 characters who don't like each other due to their families having beef with each other. This is a plot point I thought would make me enjoy it more. However, the storyline was taking too slow and I couldn't see much progress with the 2 main characters. They did kiss but I thought the timeframe of them kissing was kinda lost. It wasn't explained as much and it was like it just happened and they have no memory of it happening. It was also getting to the point where I was reading it because I was forcing myself to read the book which I never like doing. After all, it means I'm not enjoying it. This book wasn't for me.
I love me a good cowboy romance. I like them a bit spicier. This book was pretty good. I feel like the characters were lovable, but maybe not quite for each other though (in my opinion). I did however like the small-town vibes, the family fueding, the grumpy cowboy and sunshine therapist. Also, and adorable cow to add to the mixture! I caught a bit of Hatfields/McCoys Vibe with the story line. Growing up and going to my hometowns small rodeo on the weekends and reading how this novel was set on a ranch did my heart a little happy dance. I am invested in these families now, so I will give the next book in the series a chance!
A cute small town romance with an enemies to lovers twist. The story was fine but I have to admit I didn’t really vibe with the characters as much as I had hoped to. They felt a little flat. Still a quick enjoyable read.
I was hoping to love this book, but I only liked it. It was a short read, so maybe if it was longer, the author could have provided more depth in both the plot and the characters. Things happened quickly and were resolved quickly as well. For a family feud to last for decades and then be over in seconds without any dialogue was disappointing to me. I know it was not centred around the two main characters, but it was affecting their lives.
Between a Rock and A Cowboy by Lexi Post is a cute but reliably predictable cowboy romance. Tanner Dunn’s father, Jeremiah, has had a stroke at only 52. He can’t walk and he can’t talk, or won’t. Tanner has hired the best therapist he can find, one who is qualified as both a physical therapist and in speech pathology, Amanda Davis. When she arrives at the ranch, he and his brother both recognize her: Amanda Hayden, their next ranch over neighbor and one they have been feuding with for years. How dare she? She lays it out for them: she is the best, she is available, and she takes the place of two therapists. They decide to give her a try. Jeremiah is not very cooperative but he comes around and starts making progress. She says he’s depressed and needs a therapist. Tanner balks but she’s been right so far so her lets her hire one. Her father had no idea for whom she’d been working until someone saw her. Then, the s**t hit the fan. Everyone was made at everyone else.
It was too late. They were in love. This was a fast-to-read entertaining novel which ends exactly as one assumes it will past the first chapter. Both are good characters: intelligent, excellent on a ranch, and hard-working. They both deserved something good and they found it in one another. It was a fun ride of watching Jeremiah’s recovery, Amanda helping with ranch work, and Tanner softening up. The reader even gets a glimpse of Amanda’s father and how this feud started. A very entertaining and clever book. Thanks, Lexi Post!
I was invited to read Between a Rock and a Cowboy by Oliver Heber Books. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #OliverHeberBooks #LexiPost #BetweenARockAndACowboy
"Between a Rock and a Cowboy" is a fairly middle of the road cowboy romance. The main couple are slow to get off the ground, with little hint of even attraction until just before their first kiss. The third-act separation - due to miscommunication, ugh - happens super quickly after the couple gets together, and the resolution comes even more quickly after that. I love a HEA as much as the next romance reader but this one wrapped things up almost too neatly. I do like Post's writing style and would be willing to give her another read. This one just didn't work for me.
2 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a complimentary copy of this book. These opinions are my own.
This is a modern Romeo and Juliet story. Tanner is not satisfied when he sees that his father's therapist is the daughter of the enemy Amanda. But Amanda doesn't see the enemy just a patient that she wants to help. So the days go by and the attraction escalates into something more. But will the family feud be stronger than newborn love? I really liked Amanda and that she stood for herself and her beliefs, I liked that there was a clean story and that Tanner was quick in finding that he was wrong and owning up to his mistakes.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgalley
It is always a treat to find a new author and that is the case, for me, with this new series. As the oldest son, Tanner Dunn has supervised the Rocky Road Ranch since his father’s stroke. His father, Jeremiah, is set to begin home health care recovery, but Tanner never expected that Amanda “Mandy” Hayden Davis, would be his therapist. There has been hostility between the two families, although Mandy has just returned home and was never involved. Mandy’s only concern is to help Jeremiah recover. As Tanner works to pursue his father’s plans for a dude ranch, oversee the current day-to-day operations, and his father’s recovery, the attraction between he and Mandy can no longer be denied. When Tanner believes that Mandy may have been aware of her father’s plans to halt the town’s permission for the dude ranch, can they resolve the differences between their families before it ends their all too brief chance at happiness? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
I'm in my cowboy romance era and was so happy to receive this ARC.
This is Book 1 in the Rocky Road Ranch series and takes place on the Rocky Road Ranch with the Dunn Family. A decades long feud is still just as hot as ever between the Dunn's and the Hayden's, which makes Amanda Hayden's job really difficult when she's assigned to the patriarch of the Dunn family's case, Mr. Jeremiah Dunn. Not to mention his right hand man, his son Tanner, absolutely does not want her anywhere near his father or their ranch. Read along to learn how she navigates this, how hot cowboy Tanner is, and why this feud has been going on for years.
I had no clue this book was set in Arizona which really made it that much more interesting for me. Living in the valley and knowing a lot of the landmarks mentioned is always fun. I personally grew up in a rodeo family and reading this novel set on a ranch made my heart happy. The romance was not my favorite and the feud was just overly mentioned and overly done in my opinion, knocking this to a 3.5 star (rounded up). I will definitely tune into what happens next though as I'm invested in these families now!
If there’s one thing that Lexi Post excels in, it’s writing Cowboy romance and Between a Rock and a Cowboy is no exception. The first book in the brand-new Rocky Road Ranch series is sure to be a favourite with readers of this genre and fans of Ms Post’s Last Chance and Poker Flats series too!
This story has an easy ebb and flow to the writing and there is plenty of angst, drama and sexual tension between hero and heroine to ensure your full attention from start to finish. Great characters, a strong storyline with troubled pasts and family feuds, and an unwanted attraction are all designed to keep you intrigued till the very end.
Make sure to grab a copy of Between a Rock and a Cowboy, you won’t be disappointed.
Between a Rock and a Cowboy: Tanner and Brody are running the family ranch with out their father because he had a stroke. They had to get him physical and speech therapists plus run the ranch and try to make their fathers dream come true so they can make money because the ranch means so much to the Dunn family. When Tanner realized who the therapist was he said no way. Amanda said that she is the only one available for what his father needs. She was do a great job with Mr. Dunn and as the weeks when on Tanner can't resist her. The attraction is strong for both of them. It was a wonderful story with strong stubborn characters. Fantastic writing by Lexi Post! I love all the characters. I could not put my kindle down it was so good.
this was a good one from the start. must read and really enjoyed this from page one. I am loving this author more and more. Every book does it for me.
Author Lexi Post combines her background in classical literature with her fondness for cowboy romance in this tension-fraught and sometimes steamy tale of family feuds and forbidden love on a struggling small ranch. The bitter feud between the Haydens and the Dunns pits money and influence against traditional old ranching values and independence. Tanner Dunn faces managing a failing ranch, carrying out plans for its future he doesn't agree with, and managing his father's stroke recovery. Amanda Hayden Davis is the therapist who comes to his aid. But she's a hated Hayden, and he won't have it. Practicality and filial duty overrule his opposition, aided by Amanda's professionalism and skill. Reluctant acquiescence morphs into desire, and more. But old hatred's exist on both sides; Hayden interference and Tanner's hair trigger temper nearly ruin everything. Both Tanner and Amanda are strong and sympathetically portrayed, and the author employs dramatic tension to create a perfect blend of desperation and hope. It makes a timeless tale fresh, contemporary,, engaging, and thoroughly enjoyable.
Between a Rock and a Cowboy is a short and spicy read about old misunderstanding and overcoming it. It was written well and the main characters personalities made it the perfect enemies to lovers trope.
Thank you netgalley for an arc of Between a Rock and a Cowboy by Lexi Post
This was a pretty good and spicy cowboy romance ! Was a nice short and easy read . I enjoyed it ! Thanks for the arc

Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy this book very much. From the start it jumped into the plot too quickly and as a reader I felt as though I had skipped the first few chapters.
I really enjoyed Tanner and Amanda’s characters individually but as a couple they didn’t work. Their feelings came out of nowhere and the chemistry was very lacking. In the spice scene I didn’t enjoy how Amanda almost treated Tanner as one of her patients even though he’s meant to be this rough and ready cowboy.
Jeremiah’s stroke and rehabilitation story was the highlight of the book for me, these serious topics were handled really well and pulled on the heartstrings. Overall this book just wasn’t for me!
