Celestine Martin has already cast a spell on me with the previous book in this series, Kiss and Spell, so I was excited to get my hands on Deja Brew, another witchy romance set in Freya Grove New Jersey. It lived up to my every expectation, this is a charming read for any fans of magic, time travel and wishes.
Sirena Caraway is a kitchen witch, gifted with her grandmother’s culinary magic. Unfortunately, she hasn’t exactly been having a magical October. By Halloween, she’s lost a job opportunity, cracked her phone, and embarrassed herself in public. So, when she comes across some wish tea, she just wants a second chance. Sirena doesn’t expect to wake up on October 1st, with no one else the wiser that it’s take two. She’s determined to make the most of her second go, so Sirena sets out to do the month differently. Her new path brings her into step with Gus Dearworth, who just might have the key to unlocking Sirena’s magical block.
Gus loves his job with the Freya Grove Historical Society, though it’s a far cry from his former life. Gus used to be a stage magician, performing in his family’s act, and also on their reality show. When his marriage fell apart, Gus stopped being able to put on his stage persona, and needed to retreat from public life. Keeping a low profile doesn’t keep him from meaningful work, and Gus is a lot happier in brown tweed. This disappearing act has not pleased his mother, who nags him about attending his ex’s wedding in between pestering him about when he’ll return to the act. But Gus is tired, tired of being someone he isn’t, and tired of performance. So when he feels a spark with Sirena, Gus wonders if his next act could be a duet instead of a one man show.
I loved both characters, Gus and Sirena both stole my heart and I was rooting for them. They both suffer from burnout, but also a lack of inspiration. Gus hasn’t lost access to his magic, but he has lost the joy of performing it for crowds. He’s able to re-rout that love into working with Grove residents in the community, and toning down his own personal sparkle. Sirena has a different problem- she’s lost her spark entirely. When her family needed her, Sirena came back to the Grove with no regrets. But after the loss of her beloved grandmother and mentor, she’s at loose ends. Sirena feels she can do no right, so when her creative well runs dry, she knows Gus can help her remember how to have fun again.
Sirena’s feelings of inadequacy and lack of belief in her abilities are super relatable, especially for anyone who has ever been tapped out like that. She’s so hard on herself, and Gus reminds her to be kind to herself in a way others cannot. Sirena also shows Gus that he can contain multitudes, he can be a fun guy who wears tweed, not just a guy who used to be fun and grew a beard. They both attain a level of self confidence and grow together, drawing strength from their connection. This book is an excellent reminder to pursue balance, and that all of us are made of the people who love us. I love the magical world of this series and can’t wait to read more!
“If I wanted to scare myself I’d look at my student loans.”
“Don’t wish away your time carefully time your wishes.”
“How did he make the simplistic things like an adventure?.”
Thank you Net Galley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for an E-ARC! This was an extremely fall, cozy, feel good, warm hug type of vibe! I really enjoyed the way the author vividly set the tone / surroundings / setting of the story, it really helped visualize all of the fantasy elements! Each type of fall reference in terms of the weather, harvests, drinks, the outings, etc all added to the story and further solidified that this is definitely a fall read!
I liked reading about Sirena being a witch and reading her journey of getting her self confidence back in the kitchen was beautiful to see and also very relatable as well! Her ups and downs / self doubt further showed how she leveled up at the end of the story and learned to trust again! & The same goes for Gus as well , both characters going through hesitancy before going for what they wanted!
However for some reason, something was missing from this story… I enjoyed it, but I thought some parts of it were too slow in the story telling / the characters started to become a bit flat in the same breathe.

If you're looking for a cozy romance or feel like maybe life didn't go exactly as planned, give this book a chance. Celestine's writing makes me care so deeply about each of her characters. I've enjoyed each book in this series so much, but they can all be read as standalones!
🧡🧡
Ex-celebrity chef (and kitchen witch) Sirena returned Freya Grove to take care of family and has been there since. After everything went wrong in October, she wishes for a second chance. And that's exactly what she gets.
Gus, a former reality star magician, left the spotlight and is running the town's historical society. They strike a deal where Sirena will help decipher magical cookbooks and Gus will help Sirena have fun again.
Will Sirena's redo month full of autumnal fun be enough to fix her problems?

Thank you Forever and Netgalley for this free e-arc of Deja Brew, the third book in the Elemental Love series by Celestine Martin, in exchange for a review!
This was a steamy little slow burn romance with a famous magician love interest, delicious fall food descriptions, fall festivals, and the magic of a small town. Perfect read for fall if you're looking for a cozy romance to heat things up a bit. Not to worry if you haven't read the first two books, this worked find as a standalone for me.
Overall rating is a 3.5 rounded to 4.
Synopsis:
"Ex-celebrity chef Sirena Caraway has had the wackiest October ever. Her cooking powers are on the fritz, she failed to land a career-saving job, and she embarrassed herself at the town’s Halloween party. Just before midnight, she makes a desperate wish for a second chance to fix her life. The next morning Sirena wakes up and realizes that she’s repeating the entire pumpkin spice-flavored month. Even sweeter, she runs into Gus Dearworth, whose magic leaves her spellbound.
A former reality star, Gus moved to Freya Grove to rebuild his reputation and heal his broken heart, but his restless magic is tempting him to return to the spotlight. And his secret crush on Sirena is making him want to try something dangerous like fall in love again. When Sirena realizes he can help her fix her powers, Gus makes her a deal. If she’ll help decipher a mysterious cookbook in his collection, he'll help get her magical groove back.
Every encounter offers a new adventure—from tasting menus, harvest mazes, and a growing attraction that’s taking on an irresistible enchantment of its own. But as the month winds down and the wish grows stronger, Sirena and Gus have a decision to make. Will their second chance be their happy-ever-after ending or a bittersweet memory?"
Deja Brew is the sweetest rom com to read for the fall. The inclusion of magic and the romance genre in this format was engaging and the main characters were layered and meant to be together.
I really really enjoy Celestine Martin's books.
And I always love a halloween cozy romance.
Sirena and Gus strike a deal, he will help get her magic back if she helps him with his magical cookbook. They start to fall for one another and the race is on since they only have until the end of October when it all can be shattered. Or will it? You will have to read to find out.
Martin is a fantastic writer and is really making a name for herself in the cozy romance world.
The story of Sirena and Gus, a fun read with magic, witches and a time loop. A great setting and I liked how it was told from both points of view.
Two down on their luck magical beings in a cozy small-town, find their spark together after many disappointments.
Read the first two books from this series and enjoyed them but didn’t have that same experience here. Unfortunately did not finish.
Déjà Brew by Celestine Martin is a spellbinding blend of romance, magic, and second chances. Set in a charming coastal town, this story enchants with its lovable characters, whimsical world-building, and heartfelt exploration of love and destiny. Perfect for fans of cozy witchy romances, this book brews up the perfect cup of feel-good magic.
Deja Brew is super cute, emotional and sexy. I love the town of Freya Grove and its residents. Sirena and Gus’s journey as a witch and a magician trying to get their mojo and magic back while falling in love was very enjoyable. I definitely recommend this book.
This is such a fun read! Sirena is a witch and ex celebrity chef, and in October she felt like everything was gone; she couldn’t cook, her new job fell through, and she embarrassed herself at a party. On Halloween she desperately wishes for a do over month. When she wakes up, her wish is granted but now she needs to get it right.
She meets Gus, who was a famous magician but walked away from fame. Now, he has a magical cookbook he wants analyzed, which he and Sirena make a deal, if she’ll translate the cookbook, he’ll help her get her magic back. They start falling for each other, but what happens when October ends? I recommend this book, 4 stars.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley, I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This one was really good and super cute. I love a good witchy book. Although I did not know it was book three. I now have to go read book one and two and I’m excited to read them.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I'll be honest. If I didn't have as large an ARC list as I do to get through, I would probably push myself to finish this book. As is, though, I'm very put off by a few things. One is the writing style. It's very telly/info dumpy. There will be large paragraphs just telling about character backstories. And this was presented as something that could be a standalone, but I feel very lost in the world, so I don't recommend picking it up without reading the other books. This is also an unproofed ARC, so I wouldn't have been shocked by a couple mistakes, but at only 17%, I've caught far too many extra words being thrown into a sentence, as if the author was shifting their mind on the sentence as they wrote (which I also have done, so I'm not super judging, but those should have been cleaned up much better before this point in the process, I'd think).
I could see people enjoying this series. It's a cozy witchy set of stories, and also woot woot for Black voices and large girl rep. So there's definitely elements of this I could see people loving. So if this series sounds like your thing, please don't let my words dissuade you. I can't say how much starting from book 1 will help, but I encourage trying if you're looking for a cozy fall romance series!
This was fine. I admit that I didn't read the ebook but instead listened. I highly enjoyed the female narrator but the male narrator a bit less. I really liked the fall vibes of this book to get me in the fall/Halloween spirit. A nice little ditty that entertained. Would consider reading again with my eyes.
Thank you to Forever for the ARC of this book. Unfortunately, this one just was not for me. I tried over an over to again to read this book and I just could never connect with the story. I just never really wanted to read it. There are some cute elements for sure and a little bit of magic is always fun but it was 3 stars for me overall.
Really cute and cozy fall read and a good conclusion to the series. And the spice served. I really truly did enjoy<3
This was overall a fun book. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline but often felt the style of writing was lacking enough feeling. I would recommend as a light cozy read
Such a cute and cozy novel! It was the perfect start to my October! It was atmospheric, romantic, magical, and witchy. I loved both Gus and Sirena and loved that they got a second chance to make things right.
### A charming, magical do-over romance perfect for fall
In "Deja Brew," the third enchanting installment in Celestine Martin's Elemental Love series, down-on-her-luck kitchen witch Sirena Caraway gets a second chance at love and rekindling her powers when a wish gone awry has her reliving the same disastrous October over again. With a dash of magic, a heaping spoonful of heart, and a sprinkling of spice, this delightful autumn rom-com is sure to bewitch fans of Payback's a Witch and The Ex Hex.
The story transports readers back to the quirky town of Freya Grove, New Jersey, a haven for witches, magicians and magical creatures galore. After fumbling a career-saving job opportunity and embarrassing herself at a Halloween soiree, Sirena impulsively gulps a cup of "wishing tea" and yearns for a fresh start. To her shock, she awakens to find the clock has turned back and she has a month to set things right, both with her culinary conjuring skills and her love life.
Early on in her supernatural do-over, Sirena crosses paths with Gus Dearworth, the hunky but heartbroken steward of the Freya Grove Historical Society who has stepped back from his famous family's reality TV empire to nurse his wounds post-divorce. The two kindle a flirtatious friendship as they strike a deal - Sirena will help Gus decipher a mysterious cookbook if he assists her in regaining her magical mojo. Cue a month of bewitching encounters, from tasting menu triumphs to harvest maze meanderings, as their undeniable chemistry bubbles over.
Martin concocts a couple to root for in Sirena and Gus. Sirena's confidence in her curves is refreshing, as is Gus's unabashed adoration for them. The author sprinkles in luscious descriptions of Sirena's kitchen creations that will set stomachs rumbling, while scenes depicting the Caraway sisters' steadfast support of one another add a comforting warmth to the tale.
Though the book easily stands alone, established fans will delight in this return to Freya Grove and cameos from beloved characters. From the quaint small town setting to the upbeat magical tone to the heartfelt (and often hot) central romance, Deja Brew is a toothsome treat tailor-made for crisp fall days.
While the book keeps things relatively sweet, do be warned there are several sumptuous, spicy scenes best savored after the little ones are in bed. But for readers in the mood for a magical, uplifting romance with a generous glug of pumpkin spice, Deja Brew is sure to enchant and satisfy.

I thought that this would be a cute read for the fall. It did take me longer than I had wanted to read it, I think because I mostly did it on audiobook and haven’t had too much time for listening.
It was a sweet read about a kitchen witch who made a wish and a famous magician who’s trying to get over his ex. There were some spicy moments for sure. I just couldn’t connect with these characters for whatever reason.
I did like that the audiobook had both characters voiced by different narrators. I’d still recommend this to other readers.
Thank you to Netgalley, Hachette Audio and Forever Publishing for the copies to read and review.
